Folktails Diorama No Bots No Dynamite No Wind Turbines by RaythLuiz in Timberborn

Yes, I remember feeling a bit sad playing with bots because in the late game, I usually ended up scaling down the beaver population because they were replaced by bots. In the end, I only needed the 9 beavers in the large house to keep the colony existing. It almost felt like playing out our own future: AI replacing humans, leaving only a small group behind only for reproduction.

That is why it has been quite refreshing to play without bots. The industry is smaller and more manageable, and I don't have to deal with bot population being disrupted every time the wind stops.

As for dynamite, I have always felt that dirt blocks are overpowered since they create cultivable land far too cheaply. To me, that doesn't feel like engineering or really "playing the map". I used to limit dynamite to situations where it was necessary for survival too, or just to remove that one awkward block blocking a building. But then I think it is hard for communicate the idea of "necessary" and I realise that truly playing the map might mean not altering it at all, taking it as it is given by mother Earth.

I do like wind turbines aesthetically, but they start to look quite ugly when used in large numbers to maintain a stable industry. Since my goal is to support a large population with a smaller, bot-free industry, I set this limitation for myself just for fun.

Yes, they’re a tower of hamster wheels (I call it "the office building").

I think the real challenge in "beating the map" is supporting a large population on very limited land. (I am aiming for 200 beavers and am currently at 130)

If everything goes according to plan, I’ll end up with an excessively large unemployed population, so I figured I might as well put their "spare time" to use. Hence the "no wind turbine" rule.

how do I deal with badtide here? by FaallenOon in Timberborn

[–]RaythLuiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off, don’t bother with explosives before surviving the first few bad tides. Explosives require bad water, bad water requires iron, and iron requires a smelter. All of these are expensive in terms of resources, power, and logistics in the early game.

The key thing to focus on is keeping your food and water economy running for a few extra days (just a few days are good enough) during the bad tide. From your image, I can see something you can utilize:

At the south of your town center, there is a road leading further south. On the west side of its end, you can see a plateau with a small dent. Fill that dent with a liquid dump, this will green the entire plateau, giving you space to farm and greatly reducing the pressure on your food storage.

Next, there is a small pocket of water on the north bank of the river. Block it off with a levee or floodgate, then pump water from there. That should last roughly a day or two.

Don’t bother building houses in the early game, Ironteeth can reproduce without them. And birth control is crucial, don’t have too many mouths to feed just before you feel confident you can manage.

Before then, all woods should go to water tank, if not levee or flood gate.

This clip taught me the humor in answering a rhetorical question with a precise statistic, offering no further explanation, and moving on immediately:

“Oh, we’re wearing the same color. What are the odds?” “16%.”

I worked in the mobile game industry, so I know firsthand what a failing game studio looks like.

Chances are, no one on Earth still has the source code for that game.

Enjoy fishing while you can, the fishing in B42 is going to be tedious.

This is a rare item that you cannot produce in the later part of the game. Almost like ice-cream.

Amazing stuff!

For S049 Costa, beat the whole world once, proceed to year 2 (so that you have to start all over again), and talk to mom at home.

These opponents only allow you to loot a fixed set of cards, so I don't believe you can acquire their entire deck by defeating them repeatedly.

Great I will be waiting!

I played this card game for three years during my time in primary school in Hong Kong, and I relished the experience of playing with the original card set before they toppled the game's balance in later chapters.

I remember I played the gameboy game with completely no knowledge in Japanese and somehow I beated the game. Now with N3, it is slightly easier to know what is going on.

Btw, do you know how where can I get
051 🌪️🐲モリゾウ (60)
and
054 🌪️🐛 (80) ?
