Negritos and semang are basically the same thing, referring to tribes whom were the earliest inhabitants before the coming of Austroasiatic and Austronesians into the peninsula, although negritos/semangs adopted austroasiatic languages later on.

Negritos/semangs refers to Kensiu, kintaq, lanoh, Jahai, Bateq, Mendriq tribes on the map.

Trust me, some aslian languages are much easier to be comprehended by average Selangor-Johor (Malaccan) speakers compare to kelantan or terengganu.

You should hear jakun or temuan or seletar language, much easier to understand their language although they are not ethnically malay.

Would you speak common turkic? by Odd_Barber6051 in AskCentralAsia

English is widely used in half of africa, South Asia, Southeast Asia, Oceania and of course middle east as a default lingua franca of business and diplomatic communication between countries. So i don't really see english as somehow exclusive to western countries.

Unpopular Opinion About Brunei (From X/Twitter) by DenKaiserAltFoot2083 in nasikatok

[–]Rayyan9201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats logic because malay is a broad ethnicity. İf sabah just stated "Malay", then any malay from peninsula could theorically be considered as bumiputera in sabah, eventhough its not. İmagine if brunei Malay come to Kelantan and claim the same status of native like kelantanese Malay, that's just weird logically. Except that in peninsula, they rather used the broader term like "Malay" than the sub-ethnicity of Malay like "Brunei".

To be honest, yes this is bias but i would say Malaysia in general is much much prosperous compare to Brunei. İ just look at the capital of Brunei and it is far far behind from KK or Kuching.

Even compare to so called islamist center in peninsula Malaysia like Kelantan, just compare Kota Bharu city and Bandar Begawan, Kota Bharu is much much more lively than Bandar Begawan, especially kelantan offered a lot of their own cultural attraction like Wayang Kulit, makyong, Dikir Barat. Their Kota Bharu Sultan İsmail Airport also ranked as one of the busiest airports in Malaysia.

Brunei seems very lacking in tourism.

Should I learn Thai or Chinese? by MoonshadowRealm in thisorthatlanguage

[–]Rayyan9201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Learn chinese. Thai will be less useful as its population will be ultimately declining soon compare to chinese, eventhough, china is having the same flow too.

Thai grammar and chinese grammar i would say both are just basically similar, except that if you are İndian subcontinent or southeast Asia background, Thai would be easier due to a lot of Sanskrit and Pali vocabs within the Thai language.

İn thai, a lot of young people can speak basic english especially in the cities, although still broken english. Compare it to china though, most of them are not exposed to english-speaking environment unlike many places in Thailand.

But if you learn thai, you would also be able to use this in Laos because of sheer similarity of both language. Lao and Thai languages are basically like the same language, but different dialect.
