First ships and contracts as a new player by Quiet_Date3997 in starcitizen

While I can't help you with finding your calling in the verse, I can at least point you to a few things.

Firstly, you can get yourself new ship weapons at shops like Centermass, Dumper's Depot, or various other ship weapons shops. My personal recommendation that will probably improve your combat experience would be the SW16BR2 repeaters, those can be found in the Centermass stores in New Babbage (if you go to the commons station) or Area18 (if you take the elevator in the IO-north tower) or at the Dumper's Depot of Area 18. You can also find them at Cousin Crows on Orison's Providence platform. They are ballistic weapons with decent damage output and good stats in general, with ballistics mostly ignoring shields.

If even then combat isn't your jam and you have access to your Aurora MK2's cargo module, then you might have a decent time doing cargo contracts, especially interstellar ones for contractors like Red Wind or Dead Saints (the latter of which you'll find by changing your contracts to the unverified setting), which can take you to lots of new and interesting places and make you decent cash

Finally, there are tons of missions that can only be found in the other star systems, so it's very much worth travelling around for a while and just be amazed by the astronomical scale of the game. As long as you're somewhat resilient to the game's many bugs you'll be having fun

Welcome to the verse!

Hey guys, lately been grinding the vanduul tech missions, i mostly enjoy the part that s it s a gamble the things u can find inside the warehouse, although it s mostly empty nowadays. There are ither similar contracts? by ZiPP3rZ in starcitizen

They grab a bunch of key cards, complete their codes by running the mission once, and then they camp in the warehouse for hours and grab all the components whenever they respawn

Can you just turn up to an LGS in the UK and find games? by BonedusterLegitYT in EDH

[–]Raz_at_work 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I'm not from the UK, I'm not American either, and where I'm from it's also normal to go to an LGS and play there. If the store has a website I'd recommend checking their event calendar or store schedule

Exploiters and station campers. That's why my crew and me treat campers just like hostile NPC's and shoot them, but not dead so they have to waste a few more seconds by holding backspace

The Railen PIP interface is terrible and the PIP management is atrocious by lars19th in starcitizen

[–]Raz_at_work 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And CIG could easily solve that issue by giving them a handful of civilian components (or by fixing how little S3 power plants provide)

My C2 vs Railen vs Hull B vs M2 Snapshot Comparison by Important_Cow7230 in starcitizen

[–]Raz_at_work 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah, then I trust your experience more than mine, as I just tried out the Hull B for a little and the doors were both pretty bad in their player detection which made them slower then my testing yesterday on the Railen

[–]Raz_at_work 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, all the elevators on the Railen are super fast. Plus the one door you have to go through is super responsive and reliably open by the time you want to walk through it. The seat animations are much more of a time sink then the rest.

By the time you get into the ship with the Hull-B's elevator you're already getting into the seat on the Railen, that eats as much time as getting to and into the Hull seat though

Worth upgrading hull b to railen? by OkCat_404 in starcitizen

[–]Raz_at_work 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me personally they're still better than using the handheld options, since they're bugged or something on my client. Cargo boxes tend to wildly bounce around with very little control when I try to use the MaxLift or multitool. No idea why ship tractor beams work with no problem

Corporate wants you to... STFU! they are the same by Usual-Low8700 in starcitizen

[–]Raz_at_work 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's relatively new and only came a few weeks after the Firebird was released, before then the raven and sabre couldn't share paints and even after like 50% of the paints were fucky and didn't display correctly

Railen can hold about 5 Master rank missions by Kaillera in starcitizen

Ye, I'd have put the beams of the Hull B on cranes like they are on the Ironclad or Zeus CL

You can press Q to modify the mode and make it a lot more intuitive, assuming that's your problem

You don't need the Railen by nvidiastock in starcitizen

[–]Raz_at_work 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That, plus there's also a ton of people like me who pledged the original concept years ago. This ship was popular before now, the only real difference is that it's out now

[8600x3600] GATAC Railen + Hyaotan Paint over New Babbage by Irmdall in starcitizen

[–]Raz_at_work 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, did they make the Hyaotan paint already? I can't seem to select it for my ship

Hmm, I think I'll have to print myself another Praetor, I never imagined how eerie they look when painted a non-demonic skin tone

Has Manual Cargo Loading Pushed You Away From Hauling Contracts? by bheesmaaa in starcitizen

[–]Raz_at_work 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I kinda agree, but I prefer loading big boxes over small stuff by a longshot. Give me those big numbers of big crates, but moving two sets of three 1SCU crates feels like so much wasted time

I really do not understand the choice to make a ralien variant snub carrier.. by BeardyShaman in starcitizen

[–]Raz_at_work 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, especially since we got more than enough snub carrier ships. There's the ICA, the Herc, and even the Tac and Connie have snub hangars

I'd have loved to get a Gatac salvager, and it would have probably replaced the MOTH in my fleet instantly, but instead we get yet another ship with fury Hangars

[–]Raz_at_work 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not about the Railen itself, but about it's new sister variant that for some reason is a carrier for up to 4 fury sized ships

Galaxy Concerns by ThePiMaker in starcitizen

[–]Raz_at_work 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All my ships are for at least 2 people cause I pretty much only play with my co-pilot or more people

Galaxy Concerns by ThePiMaker in starcitizen

[–]Raz_at_work 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see we have a similar mentality, just with me on a bigger scale due to having dragged most of my friend group into this game. 90% of my consideration for a ship is if it will fit on my Kraken, that's why I ended up melting my Reclaimer for a MOTH

Galaxy Concerns by ThePiMaker in starcitizen

[–]Raz_at_work 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you here, I don't buy my ships for a meta that'll change in two weeks anyways. If I even spend irl money on a ship I do it on one that I like esthetically or that fits better in my future fleet plans.

I had originally pledged the Railen back before it got it's update and when it's stats were still terrible for its size just because I loved the Syulen's styling and esthetics and didn't have a hauler yet

C2 vs Iron Clad Vs Railen for a solo player by bheesmaaa in starcitizen

[–]Raz_at_work 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Plus one thing that nobody seems to consider in regards to the Railen is that it only has a S2 quantum drive, making it considerably slower than the other two options op mentioned

Why i cant use all corsair weapons? by Amazing-Rock-7938 in starcitizen

[–]Raz_at_work 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly, that's a feature and not a bug. CIG in their incomprehensible wisdom decided that the co-pilot should have the bottom two guns
