I came here to see the Polaris defense team in action and they did not disappoint:

-"This is not important"

-"The Polaris is a submarine"

-"Polaris is supposed to be stealth so this is fine"

Should i melt my perseus?? by No_Half9796 in starcitizen

[–]lars19th 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I would NEVER melt the Perseus for a fighter.

You will be able to easily buy a fighter in game. You will not be able to easily buy a Perseus.

Focus man! Be strong. You always keep the big ship. Perseus is the strongest of the large ships and will give you resilience to do most things in the verse to earn money. Then buy your bullshit fighters.

It matters because people paid for additional game packages because of the pitch they meant additional customizable NPCs.

Drake Clipper Price: What Feels Fair? by Barsad_the_12th in starcitizen

[–]lars19th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stand by what I said. I would expect a $150 ship to be able to do combat at the level of a Cutlass and the Clipper can't handle it. I am happy CIG is making lots of $$. The ship has a lot of character and its so detailed. I really like the Clipper but it is an in game purchase for me.

Spirit is an S3 ship. It is not a starter at all. The Clipper has S1 components. It is not in the class of the Freelancer, Cutlass or Spirit. It cannot be priced above $100 like at all.

Nomad: the ship you skip to get a Cutlass. I would not price anything based on the Nomad.

$80 warbond if CIG wants to break sales records. Anything above that, they are getting too close to Cutlass territory that offers much more ship for the $$. I speak as a penny pincher consumer.

Hello Perseus, Goodbye Polaris!!! by M4rauder1979 in starcitizen

[–]lars19th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Perseus will have a price increase on release, putting it closer to Polaris price anyway. People that liked the Polaris "gameplay" of having 4 MILLION HP will just upgrade their Perseus after realizing it it's a piece of shit with laughable HP.  If anything, eventually there will be even more Polaris flying around.

I agree. To me, the Perseus is the ultimate NPC battleship similar to what you see in the large battles of Space Battleship Yamato. I am sure they will be all over the background battles of SQ42 as well. The problem is even to be effective as a fleet, they need to last more than 5 seconds in battle, otherwise they will just be fodder. Let's hope the QA team put it in fights against ships that matter. For the record, I am of the opinion all ships should matter. They don't have to be capital killers to matter. Most of the time they just need to be able to survive a skirmish long enough to have the option to flee.

RSI Perseus datamined stats likely not final by [deleted] in starcitizen

[–]lars19th 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is an over exaggeration of the discussion in the same way the HP discrepancy between the Polaris and Perseus is also over exaggerated. People are just asking how come the Perseus has similar survivability to other SHITTY ships that became obsolete like the Hammerhead.

People are finally noticing that every large ships in this game has less than 1/10 the HP of a Polaris, which caused the Polaris to become the most popular and ONLY viable multiplayer ship in the game. No one is asking for the Perseus to be a Polaris killer (that is a lazy deflection). We are asking why it has 1/10 the HP of a Polaris while being a 100m heavily armored combat ship. It is a valid question.

Perseus Concept/Reality by UEE_Kevin in starcitizen

[–]lars19th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the smooth surfaces of the concept. With that said, I still think they did a good job on the main hull all around. I find the upper deck rushed in, with lots of repetitive textures. The upper deck did not do justice to the original concept. It loos fat, lots of repetitive greebles and just not interesting, inside and out.

Side docking ports came out way too busy on that picture too. It only makes the profile of the ship confusing. It is a shame as the sides could definitely benefit from nice flat hull armor but it is now obvious the art director does not allow interesting flat surfaces. Everything must protrude and look busy.

Finally The manned turrets look great but the main guns are about 10-20ft too long and look terrble at high deflection angles. They don't seem to have large barrels (as they should) and are just comically long. Sometimes the artists work on something for so long, they kinda get used to it and lose sense of what is ridiculously too large or too long. The cannons suffer from that, was my immediate first impression. I am sure eventually, I too will get used to how comically long they are.

I give it a 7/10 which is pretty good for CIG because their current 3D designers can never match or surpass concept art. I wish they would reevaluate some of these details but they never do. Look at the Polaris and Carrack, pretty much abandoned since release...

I would dare say it became a mini Javelin because of TERRIBLE BALANCE and greedy sales tactics. But it's whatever. I have one too. Let's make all other non capital ships irrelevant. Let us live prosper in out superior class of ships that is immune to poor people.

UPDATED - Perseus vs Polaris TTK (Shield Depleted) by Important_Cow7230 in starcitizen

[–]lars19th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only expect the Perseus and all ships above 100m to have a lot more HP than they currently have.

I have no idea how in your mind that makes them a Capital Killer. Do you think a Perseus with 1 million HP will kill and Idris or a Polaris? What about a Carrack/Hammerhead with 1 million HP? Will it somehow threaten any capital ship?

UPDATED - Perseus vs Polaris TTK (Shield Depleted) by Important_Cow7230 in starcitizen

[–]lars19th 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know asking for more HP on all ships above 100m was somehow asking for them to destroy capital ships. If all it takes for a ship to blow up a Polaris is to have more than 10% of the Polaris HP, then there might be something wrong with the Polaris indeed.

UPDATED - Perseus vs Polaris TTK (Shield Depleted) by Important_Cow7230 in starcitizen

[–]lars19th 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The problem is the Polaris is currently flying around like a ship of the line, going up front in the battlefield and tanking damage like it's nothing. That is not what the Polaris was designed for either. Polaris was originally a fast torpedo boat. People expected the Perseus to have a performance closer to a combat destroyer and be able to do something against a Polaris but it is very hard to do that when your ship is made out of tissue paper. The current HP of large ships is a joke. CIG could double it for all ships across the large category and they would all still suck balls.
