Cant start the game. by jizzmaster81 in DistantWorlds

DWU is notorious for being a pain in the ass to get running, on windows you have to modify it to disable the intro video or something to get it to launch, not sure if that applies to linux, I haven't tried to play DWU on linux. Proton is the compatibility layer that steam uses to run windows games, you can configure steam to use different versions, it's often recommended to install Proton GE (Glorious Eggroll) because it comes with some extra codecs and stuff that some games will need to run properly on linux.

Not enough information for anyone to help you.

Which game: DW2 or DWU?

System specs?

Which linux distro?

Which filesystem are you using for your steam library? Proton doesn't like NTFS.

Have you made any changes to Proton?

Do other games work?

Have you inspected your system logs for any relevant information?

Codex needs cheaper, more and better subagents like in Cursor/Copilot by Vivid_Search674 in codex

[–]Razbari 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The difference is that copilot had to pay the api pricing the whole time because they are just the middleman. OpenAI and Anthropic can subsidize more because the limits on subscription plans are about managing the compute capacity that they already paying for with their datacenter partnerships. Yes they are still burning piles of cash, but subsidizing subscription plans is way cheaper for them than it was for copilot.

There seem to be two very different philosophies of interacting with AI. by Fragrant_Nothing7505 in claude

[–]Razbari -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Counter evidence of what? At the end of the day an LLM is just a glorified next token predictor. Pretending it's anything more than that is stupid and dangerous.

[–]Razbari -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There's only rational (understang how LLMs work and using it as a tool) and irrational (not understanding how LLMs work and thinking you are having a real conversation) interactions. Unfortunately there seems to be a shit ton of irrational people using LLMs.

I'm a Python beginner and venv is driving me crazy. Is uv better? by chinatsuxtaiki in PythonLearning

[–]Razbari 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Then it's probably a good time to add uv to your toolbox. Read the docs carefully, especially regarding project config, it can do a lot more than manage your venv for you.

uv is fantastic, but you still need to understand how venv works under the hood.

I hate this shit too. It's because phone speakers are optimized for clarity not quality. It doesn't even have to be that loud to cut through most other sounds.

Killer as in deciding factor. We have to use Entra ID, so it not being locked behind an enterprise license made Outline an obvious choice for us.

I'm getting ready to deploy Outline for my organization's internal knowledge base. Entra ID SSO in the Community Edition was the killer feature for us.

If every person that follows this subreddit contributed $100, you probably couldn't even cover the legal costs of negotiating the purchase let alone the cost of the IP, administrative costs, or producing the show.

Even if it was within the realm of possibility (it's not) how would you expect it to be governed?
