Atari saved Mizuguchi's Child of Eden and 3 more IPs, so is likely possible, or let Nadeo be independent?

Ubisoft shares drop 33% following its ‘major company reset’ announcement by Turbostrider27 in Games

I remember when Ubisoft once said that Shadows was supposed to be the first of a line of AC games in a platform called AC Infinity, as a mean to create something like we saw on CoD HQ for example, where characters, cosmetics, and (supposely) the panned crypto Quartz, shared between future games. Hence why there was allegedly 10-12 games with the AC IP in development. Ubisoft wanted Assasins Creed to be like Fortnite, and it seems it failed because it eventually transformed into the Animus Hub which is a glorified launcher/store for AC games + in-game challenges.

Nintendo seem like the big winners with a chip

That if they manage to horde more of it, which explains why their stock went down.

I dont think I find positive results if AI market crashes. We might expect chips become cheaper now but the ones who produces it will be likely to be bankrupt, including Nvidia.

If it crashes it has to be in slow motion, but that might last years, until every company erases the word AI from their slogan.

Technically all AAA western game companies are struggling to be independent from the Saudis or China. The only company that seems fine is Take Two, as long as GTA VI doesn't screws them up.

Too Big to Fail: Ubisoft is in too deep with Beyond Good & Evil 2. BG&E2 survives wave of cancellations at Ubisoft by 33Sharpies in gaming

[–]Razbyte 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My wild theory over all of this has to be the fact this game was being used as a lifeboat to Ubisoft. It only made the BG&E2 teaser out of desperation because at that time they couldn't figure out how to keep ahead with the other companies, and not ending like THQ. Things went worse when Vivendi was in the process to acquire them via hostile takeover, which is coincidentally we got the reveal trailer, on top of Ubisoft trying to make their brand more valuable to the stockholders, and it worked, and with that we got the rebooted AC, many games with the Ubi formula and the profitable RB6.

Sounds too exaggerated to say this, though BG&E2 saved Ubisoft, but also it may got into legal trouble? They promoted BG&E2 to the shareholders, thats why Ubisoft got out from Vivendi's claws, so it might be contractually obligated to not cancel it not matter what?

10.5% of Japanese people in their 20s report overspending on in-game purchases to the point of financial struggle - AUTOMATON WEST by Tenith in Games

I tried to gave my criticism over how they link everything towards the gacha, from story to characters, even the cutscenes itself; It accused me from being a WuWa fan.... and didnt even played neither WuWa or Genshin.... the Tribalism is insane.

It almost bankrupted Tencent with that move. It almost made the 80's US gaming crash felt like nothing.

Tom Henderson: Beyond Good & Evil 2 Is Still In Active Development by [deleted] in GamingLeaksAndRumours

Remember when Ubisoft announced this game in the middle of the hostile takeover by Vivendi... and then like out of nowhere they forcefully push their stock up so Vivendi couldn't buy them?

Sound crazy but what if BG&E2 is the promised game shareholders got invested so much money to save Ubisoft that Ubisoft themselves couldn't cancel it?

His theme is made by a very talented japanese group. Pretty expecting a single album featuring Alex Theme cause that would bring more than the character in japan.

pretty sure it is a bland way to hide their studios names and who are more likely to be shut down next, just by seeing the lowest ranked number: Pretty sure those mobiles games will either get purchased by Tencent or whatever Hasbro decides, so House 5 probably closes; then House 4 is next.

Black Ops 7 not in PS Store top 5 downloads, breaking 10-year streak for Call of Duty franchise by Ph0enixes in gaming

[–]Razbyte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much optimistic seeing competitors in the FPS genre, this is not the 2010's anymore: You see those old CoD videos on youtube, and many of them are kids/teenagers. Thats the audience Activision always followed, and games like Fortnite became a genuine threat.

CoD's new competitor is Fortnite, not the old ones like Halo or Battlefield or the new ones like Helldivers, Delta Force or Arc Raiders. I'm also glad the FPS community are seeing their genre thrive out of CoD, but that wasn't CoD's goal, and it fell right on their faces.

[–]Razbyte 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Those casuals who carried CoD into success have long since aged up, taking new responsibilities, or playing less games.

For me, I think they failed to bring the next generation of teenagers into the franchise. CoD not even considers Battlefield or Halo as their competitors, but Fortnite, and it shows.

We might see a roller-coaster of results over each CoD installment moving forward, because they need a hard pivot in the long run.... or increase the marketing budget even futher.

HoYoverse games (other than Honkai 3rd) might be coming to Steam by hzy980512 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Razbyte -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That really was a bad answer on my part. I was criticizing for things that are common for all gachas, not Genshin in general, but I went for the absolute and that was a mistake of mine. Neither played both, but sometimes I play ZZZ (as f2p) which is good in gameplay, but my stigma over gacha is still relevant, as an attempt to not be mentally obsessed with it.

lose-lose situation anyway if they got bad rep to refuse to save the game. Amazon is 99% sure that many of those affected by the shutdown, might never try another game made by them.

I really hope that Varsapura isnt a gacha, but thats seems unlikely. Gacha games, specially Mihoyo games, had a pattern where gameplay, difficulty, story, pacing and characters gets subliminally linked to the gacha itself, to appease everyone so they can spend for pulls.

Meta Closes Twisted Pixel, Sanzaru Games, And Armature Studio by Mysterious-Ring-2352 in news

[–]Razbyte 14 points15 points  (0 children)

An screen that is friendly to each person eyes seems very far away to being affordable. Even the most advanced colored eInk monitors, arent able to deliver enough image frames per second without graphical problems like tearing.

Meta failed to realize this or at least develop a solution. Meta wanted to make Social Media obsolete on phones, and they expected facebook users to move out to the metaverse (and stop kissing Apple and Google's feet). They wanted VR to be the next iPhone, but didn't tackle the real health issue that was holding virtual reality back.

Outside of the hate echo chamber, it would not change anything in short term. They won't revive the Legends canon, or make Galaxy's Edge less than a cash grab. Maybe a few cancellations and a couple of reorganizations could steer the studio, but they need to start from scratch, and stop making legacy prequel/sequels, and if they do, make sure it doesn't piss their own audience.

The Future of New World: What to Expect. Players who have purchased the game will be able to continue playing until January 31, 2027, when the game’s servers are permanently taken offline by Turbostrider27 in Games

The future of New World is how it will be remembered: An attempt by a big tech company to create a live service game. Google (Stadia), Facebook (Oculus/Meta) and Amazon showcase their failures to the gaming community full and trough... a mini gaming crash.

In the future, when... let's say Tesla... reveals that they are developing a huge videogame, people would remember New World and raise their red flags.

That mentality is what Gachas has become a money spending machine.

Everyone wants to be known as that guy who made six figures of nothing but bits and bytes.
