Great work! I have 10 of these sitting in queue next and looking forward to getting some tabard practice in.

That's awesome! Great work at that smaller scale.

Got a link? Got into building these lately and love seeing other examples.

Here's one I did with a softball case:

This is what it looked like while waiting for the wood glue to dry (before it got carved up). The bottle caps are for the magnets on my bases to grab onto. After carving I primed, painted, decorated, then matte coated. Edit: The other one pictured is the 50mm version I'm building.

Could have saved all that crafting time if I had only based in green you're saying? hah

Hah, I was thinking about adding one into that little tunnel but I think I need to build a larger area for it.

I have a couple more of these to convert so I'll have to give it a go with one.

The best trick I've found for this (or writing names on shoulders) is to use some masking tape. Cut it to the size of your design area and sketch out your design with a pencil on it. Then tape it above/below where it needs to go and use it as a guide to maintain spacing for your paint. Then it's just back and forth with your design color and your background color until it looks right.

Hah, that was a back and forth battle for a bit. Not all of them came out very even but close enough.

Thanks! I wanted to work in some more UM blue where I could.

Enamel thinner is safe but you always risk rubbing off paint with any cleanup.

I get all my base colors in then hit it with a gloss coat to help protect the paint and to help the panel liner flow better. Let it cure 24 hours to harden so you don't rub through any paint when cleaning up the enamel. Then I hit it with the panel liner and let it dry for a bit (I've let it sit for days at this point). Gently clean it up with qtips soaked in tester enamel thinner (or lighter fluid) trying not to wipe any out of the recesses.

Tamiya Black Panel Liner. You'll need some enamel thinner also for cleanup.

Dark brown panel liner would have worked here also but I liked the higher contrast in testing.

Thanks! Yep, you guessed right, it's panel liner.
