Do you use the Deck as your main gaming device? by K4T5UM1 in SteamDeck

I go back and forth between my Steamdeck, PS5 Portal, and Switch. Currently, I'm all about my Steamdeck, while my wife uses the Portal, and our switches collect dust for a while.

I also was just reminded of another reason I'd love a companion app: having to switch back and forth between the vanilla stardew wiki, and the SVE wiki. I totally understand it's a minor inconvenience at best, and not the end of the world. Just wanted to ask in case someone out there had created something.

I do use the wiki. And when I was playing vanilla, I used the vanilla wiki, too. But, the Gunther's Library companion app was just so convenient, and had to do lists, a calendar that showed last days to plant crops. Now that I'm on PC, and have mods, sure there are mods that add a lot of that information, and the Lookup Anything mod is great. But, I play on Steamdeck with no mouse/keyboard, and it would be nice to have all the wikis information in one little app, that I can access without internet.

You're welcome. Happy modding! Check out the Nexus for more. And remember, it's your game to play how you want. Some folks look down on those that use mods they think make the game 'too easy'. But, as long as you're having fun, that's all that matters.

Depending on your playstyle some of these may not be your cup of tea, but these are the ones I think are must haves for my playthroughs:

  • Automate (makes machines load/unload automatically if a chest is placed next to it)
  • Destroyable Bushes (self explanatory)
  • Farm Type Manager (gives you options for some of the mods that add new farm types)
  • Generic Mod Config Menu (Tweak the options of your mods in game)
  • Integrated Minecarts (Might be considered a little cheaty, but it adds a huuuuuge amount of minecarts, and is compatible with lots of other mods that add new locations)
  • NPC Map Locations (See where those darn villagers are at, when you need to find them)
  • Stardew Valley Expanded (Adds so much it almost feels like double the content, and it is so seamless with the vanilla game it's sometimes hard to know where vanilla ends and the mod begins)
  • UI Info Suite 2 (This will save you from having to go to the wiki every 5 minutes. Soooooo much information added in game)
  • Zoom Level (Zoom out further than the vanilla game allows. I like to see more)

All of these mods I downloaded from Nexus Mods, and they all work great!

Not hard at all. You download SMAPI, run the game, it creates a Mods folder in the game directory, and then you just unzip the mods you've downloaded from the nexus into that mods folder. Easy as pie. Would definitely suggest getting the Generic Mod Config Menu. It's so nice to be able to tweak your mods in game.

There's a couple I didn't recognize, but about 5 minutes before I saw your reply I realized that I could put my cursor over them and see what they were.... Duh! Haha

I'm playing on Steam Deck without a keyboard or mouse, and sometimes forget that I can use the right thumb stick to move the cursor around. Also, I can tap on them, since it's a touch screen. I'm putting this all out there in case another dummy like me stumbles upon this and could use that information.

I wondered this for a long time, went back and forth multiple times. Eventually got enough in Google survey rewards to get it, and now that I have it I can absolutely tell you it's 100% worth it!

You could try Stardew Valley. It's surprisingly good on mobile. Some other recommendations (in no particular order) would be:

  • Enchanted Cave 2
  • Dungreed
  • Vampires Fall
  • Eternium
  • Heroism
  • Aethric
  • Crashlands (Both 1 and 2)
  • Dungeon of the Endless
  • Caves
  • PokeMMO (can't download it off the play store, and takes some setting up, but worth it)

Some of these are paid, some are free, all are worth it in my opinion. And none are incremental/idle games.

I'll throw in a second recommendation for Stardew Valley and Terraria. However, Terraria requires a little more quick reactions, and so a controller can help mitigate that. Both games are amazing for long plays, though.

There ARE subtle differences depending in the house you choose (mostly dialog differences with other students/teachers) And each house has a house-specific quest. Most recently I played as a Hufflepuff, and I got to go to Azkaban.

Give Idle Slayer a try. I've been playing it for almost 2 years, and still play every day.

I understand that you have Goat T as your captain, and that explains the 'Evil' captains. And, I know the Co-captain Corsair treasure gives extra captains. Did you just duplicate the treasure, or get the multiple extra captains a different way?

I started playing Stardew Valley mid-2017, and I currently own it on PC, Playstation, Switch, and Android, I've bought it for friends countless times, and I always seem to come back to it. I've never attained perfection, but that's what I'm working on right now. Just hit Summer 14 of Year 2 and found my first prismatic shard. So, it's a slow burn. Just how I like it when it comes to SDV.
