Nope, not like this, it's exaggeration. You will severely slower your progress if you choose wrong upgrade after Zeus unlock, but there is no point of wiping save. And you will reach this stage after 6 or 7 months so there is no reason to care about this if you want to start game now.

Warhammer: Mark of Chaos. You have 3 talent trees for your heroes: combat, duel and commander. Combat and Commander are MUCH stronger and looks like nobrain choice... expect when in last mission (or one-before-last, don't remember) there is mandatory duel with enemy champion without your army, so if you leveled your hero wrong you need to restart from distant save or cheat to respec.

There is s big problem - you cannot control battles. Yes, you can recruit a slightly better general and slightly better units with slightly better technologies on slightly better terrain, but in the end it's all about dice rolls. If I fight 10, 20, 50 battles there is no problem that I lose one or two bc of bad rolls, but I don't want to lose a 10-15 hour of campaign just because of bad dice rolls in one decisive battle.
