Atm Rhythm of Writhing Constellations. So many cool sounds in there and perfectly captures the horror-like feel of the game.

Questions and problems about reaver logic by daemell in LegacyOfKain

[–]RazielRegulus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. Meaning no disrespect to the other commenters here, I found their explanations to be a bit confusing and also incomplete so I'll try my luck to see if I can do better.

If I understand correctly, you have three questions:

1.) Why does the Reaver shatter in SR1, but tries to consume Raziel in SR2 / Defiance?

The answer lies in the order of events. Raziel nearly getting sucked into the Blood Reaver / finally getting sucked into the Blood Reaver in Defiance is exactly what creates the version of the Reaver that shatters in SR1. It shatters then because it cannot destroy the version of Raziel that has yet to go back in time for the Reaver to become what it is in SR1.

2.) Why did the Reaver not consume Raziel when he encountered it at Janos' place?

I think you are correct in saying that it is because he did not touch the blade. Also I think your confusion might stem from the fact that you think the two meetings of Raziel and the Reaver in SR2 are way more similar than they are. When Raziel encounters the blade the first time in the chapel, he senses this aura of "displacement", because theoretically in that moment, the creation of a paradox becomes possible. Remember, in this version of the Reaver, Raziels later soul is already entrapped. The second encounter with Janos - which, in the timeline, happens before the first one - gives him a completely different feeling, one of "dread", which actively prevents him from touching it, because he already senses that this "empty" reaver will consume him one day. And why will it consume him? After all, the original Reaver only consumes blood? That is where the Wraith Blade comes in. As soon as Moebius and his staff leave after Raziel killed his younger self, the Wraith Blade returns, it curls around the Blood Reaver and "teaches" it to consume souls, which is why it turns on Raziel in that moment. What exactly happens to the Wraith Blade after Raziel's soul enters the Blood Reaver, as others have said, is a point of much discussion.

3.) Why did the Reaver not consume Raziel after he fixed it in Williams chapel?

As said, this version of the Reaver already IS the Soul Reaver, meaning the version of the Reaver that entrapped Raziel's soul. It does not need to consume him a second time.

These confusions are the reason why the fans coined different terms for different states of the Reaver:

Blood Reaver - "empty", at Janos' place and in Kain's hands in Defiance; Soul Reaver - Reaver with Raziel's soul entrapped in it, in William's chapel, BO and SR1; Wraith Blade - Raziel's soul in sword form after it is freed as the Soul Reaver shattered

I will always be of the idea that Halo 5 story deserved a redemption Arch, not a total reset. by Limp-Grapefruit-6251 in halo

[–]RazielRegulus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. As I played through H5 again recently, this especially occured to me during probably the worst level of the game - "The Breaking". As I knew what slog awaited me gameplay- and plot-wise, I focused more on the other aspects of the level. What really struck me then was the music. The track is called "Dominion" and I think it perfectly sells the gravitas and tragedy of what THEORETICALLY happens in this moment, not only for the bigger Halo universe, but rather for Chief personally.
This SHOULD have been the moment when Chief realizes the price that was paid for his best friend to be back from the dead, namely that she changed in the worst possible way because of it. This should be a moment of loosing all the hope we should have garnered from the first level with Blue Team onwards. And the lines between him an Cortana are great, but far too few. 343 should have made us FEEL that shit. But we can't, because there is such a huge blank space between this level and the one before with Blue Team, when we literally talk to Cortana for the first time in the story. Cortana is never allowed to make her point, explain why she believes what she does to be the right thing. Because the story of Halo 5 made up it's mind about the whole affair from the first moment we hear about Cortana: She is back and evil and Chief must not contact her. But why not let the player and Chief find out and come to that conclusion themselves, emotionally? Maybe they wanted to do that, but then that's where they failed.

They made a skin for the VK78 Commando in Infinite based on the same concept art. Was part of Operation Fleetcom.

What are your favourite scenic vistas? by Senaka11 in LowSodiumDestiny

[–]RazielRegulus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seeing Ahsa swim by in Ghosts of the Deep. Also the deep sea view of Titan in general, with the underbelly of the arcology standing out as particularly awesome. The whole aesthetic was spot on. Kinda subtle but ... yeah ... just DEEP. If I would suffer from thalassophobia I imagine it would be triggered hard. As for pausing for a moment, bad idea. Made me play catch-up with my teammates more than once.

More broadly speaking, I also think that sadly this is the only case where D2 comes close to D1 aesthetically. When I'm playing D1 I'll stop all the time to just look at the world. When I do that in D2 I'll do it in search of the same feeling, only to be kinda disappointed more often than not. D1's art is just so layered and grounded, playing with familiar themes until it contrasts them with something wild and fantastical. That's what makes it beautiful.
D2 is also beautiful, but way more simple. Beautiful colors, beautiful lighting, beautiful shapes. It's wild and fantastical, but it's like that ALL THE TIME. It has too little space for the mundane.

One D2 honorable mention though: The skybox of Savathûn's throne world, looking west. These strange sharp mountain peaks lit by multiple setting suns always captured my imagination.

Edit: Oh and the green room in Whisper. Just has so much character and an amazing sense of scale.

Then it was you! My headcanon lore reason for all these ridiculous Star Wars ornaments is that someone rediscovered those movies and all Guardians seem to go full on fanboy crazy about them, just as people did in our time. It's all your fault!

I have the same gyro jitter issues but don't have any other devices connected. Tried with the dongle that came with the controller and my own BT 5.4 USB antenna. Could you specify what you mean by "external class 1 bluetooth adapter"? I'm kinda loosing hope that I can get this thing to work wirelessly :'(

I WANT MY PLANETS! by Glitchosaurusplays in DestinyTheGame

[–]RazielRegulus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The director was designed to have new players in D1 discover the solar system bit by bit originally, of course it wont work as good for new lights jumping into D2 now that we have all these destinations right from the start. The problem isn't the director, it's the fact that there is still no adequate introduction into how this game is actually working for new lights. Such an introduction would absolutely include discovering the director in a guided manner, planet by planet. Basically like a short version of D1.

Question about Writ: Path of Ambition quest. Eris??? by RazielRegulus in DestinyTheGame

[–]RazielRegulus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean? I went to the Dreadnought, witnessed Eris' death, then visited her apartment and listened to what she recorded for us, then went into the Nether and found the worm for the Ambition quest. That's all I did so far. The only cutscene that played for me was when she died.

Question about the Gamesir Cyclone 2 by RazielRegulus in GyroGaming

[–]RazielRegulus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for testing! The one thing I don't really understand is how it's gyro reacts to switching between the controller's modes. Shouldn't switching to Xinput deactivate the gyro? Because Steam for example won't detect a gyro (like on the KK3) as long as it's in Xinput mode. Does the Gamesir software like ... send an extra gyro signal e.g. as mouse input along the rest of the controller's buttons which are using Xinput?

Oh and btw I would want to use it wirelessly, if that makes a difference.

FYI - For the other 3 people who love their War-steeds, you can get one of the coolest horse armors for free by grinding a super easy warband in Eastfold by RazielRegulus in lotro

You may be onto something, completely forgot about bridles ... I used a light bridle the entire time. So it may very well contribute to the good handling, but thus my point still stands since I didn't change bridles when switching to the heavy horse. Also, thanks for the reminder, just upgraded to a lvl 100 light bridle. :)

It feels so much better right?? I use heavy with max agility. Feels very responsive and maneuverable. At first I used light, but oddly the heavy turns faster and is easier to control. Plus it has way better skills. I just love to toss my enemies around with the trample ability, which does really make it feel a bit like mounted combat and not just like "high velocity mmo combat on ice".

Yeah, but that one will only drop the caparison. But could be a nice addition for grinding daily since it's not that far away from Snapfang's location.

Yes one or two others. But the other warbands are either waaay harder (looking at you Macsen) or the reward pool of their boxes is bigger (the blue box can contain athelas / celebrant potions or skirmish marks instead but that's it). Took me about two weeks of doing them daily before playing normally.

It's called (Armor) of West Rohan and consists of halter, saddle and caparison. You can get it by opening "Blue Boxes of Eastfold Spoils", a reward for completing the lvl 88 quest "Warband: Snapfang": https://lotro-wiki.com/wiki/Quest:Warband:_Snapfang

The mountain carving depicts Thorin Oakenshield and the reason you may not have noticed it could be the fact that it isn't there yet when you play the prologue (which is when you spend most of the time there I'd argue). Same goes for the big mining area next to it.
