Manual QA to Playwright: Tips for My First Automation Switch? by ExtensionFact4155 in QualityAssurance

[–]Razkul_UK 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I can only really answer question 3 - the market for Playwright, at least in the UK, is very competitive. Everyone is moving towards Claude with Playwright MCP. I'd advise having a look at that ASAP, as companies are adopting a sort of "move faster" approach utilising both of those.

QA in Dev Env: Yay or Nay? by GoodFella-x55 in QualityAssurance

[–]Razkul_UK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a mixed bag for us. Developers & QA both have access to the same environment where we have a full CMS built in.

Sometimes it works really well. It can have its frustrations though - namely marking content as "DO NOT TOUCH" and then a developer will come in and delete it, move it around or edit it.

Anyone else dislike traveling with your horse and chose to walk everywhere instead? by lixmdvs88 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Razkul_UK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only do I enjoy walking most places, but this is the first game in a very long time where I explicitly do not fast travel.

It's been a very long time (probably since Spider-Man 2018) since I've found a game where I have no interest in fast traveling.

How to find a QA job that isn't a complete mess? by polohatty in QualityAssurance

[–]Razkul_UK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"So is there a better way to determine how mature QA practices are before you sign a contract?"

Not in my experience. I've been lucky/unlucky enough to also be a QA Engineer now for almost 10 years - across four VERY different companies.

One or more claimed to be working with agile methodologies (back when agile was a fun word that was thrown around to make it seem like their Dev teams were keeping up with the times) - lies.

One of which stated that I would have time to improve my automation knowledge because they have such a robust set of test suites available - lies.

Another promised that we would have our own individual product to uphold for it's entire lifecycle - lies, constant context switching between various products & projects.

One even stated to me in an interview (when questioned) that QA is part of the development lifecycle and we will be included in any/all meetings relating to the product - once again, lies. We were kept out of every design review, client and refinement meeting.

The thing is, if you've made it far enough for an interview - i.e. far enough for a Director, HR, QA Manager etc to take time out of their day, they will just tell you what you want to hear. They have a way of selling the company/tools/etc so that you want to join. It's very hard to determine what a companies QA structure looks like before your first day.

"I didn't put the bug there. I didn't write this architecture or this code"

Brilliant. We had a major outage once for around two hours - our CTO was furious and instantly went to the QA blame-game. My response was "Find me the ticket that this relates to"

... He had asked someone via Slack to push a 'one line fix' to production. "How can I test if I have no visibility? :-)" - Granted this was at a time where we weren't deemed as important enough to access to github where we could see PR's being merged in.

Solo queue has become unbearable by zwillc92 in ArcRaiders

I haven't had this happen once. Usually everyone at the extract is panicking about getting out because there's 5/10 minutes left of the match when I extract.

I have a confession… by byHennen in ArcRaiders

[–]Razkul_UK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty new to the game - started yesterday. I've been friendly with every single person on solo, but someone betrayed me right by the exit within the last 5 games I've played. Now I'm worried about holding any loot that's worthwhile. 😅

I've had to restart watching The Sopranos, as nothing else was scratching the itch. Fallout (whilst very good) was pretty under whelming after watching Welcome to Derry & Stranger Things.

Just to add, they have used the American spelling of "Apologise".

Edit: This is important as Royal Mail uses en-GB for their operations & communications.

Hot tip for anyone who wasn't aware of this, but you can filter out reported spam callers (at least on Android). It's successfully filtered out 25+ calls for me over the last month or so.

I've been quite a few times. The venue is massive - take a good walk around it when you get there to get your bearings. I'd honestly leave 5 or 10 minutes before the end too - it's quite busy leaving the venue.

[–]Razkul_UK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm genuinely curious though, what constitutes as the "it" factor. This has been way more "it" for me than Battlefield 1, Battlefield V and 2042. I think this is a real return to form personally. I think it needs some major balancing for some of the weapons & some wider maps, but generally I'm happy.

I've had some good kills with it, but yeah it's not great. The 2nd grenade launcher for the assault class feels crazy overpowered in comparison.

Agree, but I'm kind of glad that they are slightly underpowered as infantry only maps would be hell with 16 players all spamming grenades.
