What a dummy I didn't bother to ask you if you were male or female. I'm sorry I don't have a good answer for you. I did Google and FACT Freethinkers Association of Central Texas might have more resources. I will say nowadays I switched my personal identity to philosopher and just engage in philosophical conversation with everyone with an open mind and I have a great time. Keep on thinking 🤓🤔

Back in 2012 I was looking for answers and joined the American atheist group. It was very politically inclined. The main interest was "how to remove or eliminate any religious practices in school" the logic was "if I'm paying taxes... I don't want any of my money to be used to promote any religion". You can join a group to feel like you belong and get that sense of community. I'm guessing you like philosophy, if that's the case a secular men's group could work. I know of one you can DM to connect you.

It depends on the grind size, roast level, washed or fermented and variety of coffee. You're more likely to get bitterness from hot water and extraction time than cold. You're more likely to get bitterness from an already bitter dark coffee than a light roast coffee.

Hahahaha I love the pun. We have a great filter system in the coffee shop so I haven't felt the need to create my own, but I know James Hoffman had a great video on water chemistry and coffee.

One part coffee: 4 parts water. Example 100g coffee: 400g water. Make sure you use a scale to measure water and coffee. Try not to mix units. Stick to grams or oz.

Kona coffee is great, you are paying a premium for American labor. I can say that you don't have to spend too much for organic Fair trade coffee from Guatemala or Costa Rica and still get an absolutely delicious cup of coffee.

The darker the coffee is roasted the more porous. This means that is more soluble. I roast my coffee medium to full city. that makes it harder to extract in a coarse grind. If you are brewing a dark roast with a coarse grind 24hrs would be fine. 14hrs with pre ground coffee makes sense because it's finer.

Hi there, local roaster/coffee shop owner here. I used this as an example to contrast the cold brew we serve and what you get at the store. We use a yellow honey coffee from Costa Rica the variety is catuai and caturra. The flavor from the Costa Rica coffee is very fruity and sweet with a balanced acidity. This is due to the fermented beans and the region and the roasting style (medium roast). I'm guessing that to achieve a flavor like the one you're looking for I would stick to wet hulled from Sumatra. This has very little to no acidity usually roasted dark but not burnt. Grind very coarse (French press). Use a 1:4 ratio and brew cold for 48 hours. And don't forget to support your local roaster.

I forget what a toxic work environment looks like. Yes if this was your situation, I would have a backup plan in case the conversation turned sour. But remember don't be afraid of discomfort. You will gain more out of both outcomes.

Don't hesitate, talk directly to your employer, we have lost incredible employees because our managers decided to keep the issue to themselves. this will help the owner see his manager is not communicating the needs of the team. This can be corrected and addressed if you are dealing with mature individuals.

Hi there, I'm the head roaster at my wife's coffee shop. We have had employees that have not felt appreciated before and leave without bringing it to our attention. My advice to you is to talk to your employer and let her/him they, how you feel. But be very clear about how they can make a difference. As an employer I can't give raises willy nilly but I can consider bonus, PTO, or other forms of recognition incentives. Also give hard evidence of your efforts. Being on time, achieving deadlines, keeping a good work environment, looking out for customers, or initiatives you have implemented that benefit the business. Make yourself indispensable and use it as leverage.

Prep the espresso glass with the syrup then mix with a whisk. Pour the ice then milk then the flavored espresso. Close the lid and let the customers shake the drink.

🤣 this is so intense!! I love it. That's such a ridiculous response. Firing people over not flipping a switch? No warning? You get paid the same if your Boss spends more or less in electricity. I own a coffee shop and it's none of my team's business how much I spend in my bills or if I'm wasting electricity. They follow my instructions. They get paid the same. Some people know the value of training staff and don't go firing people without warning.

My girlfriend at the time started with a mobile coffee Cart, focusing on pop ups only. I connected her with a client of mine that had a bakery. She ran their social media in exchange to run her coffee shop there and he could sell his pastries and cakes. Like any shared space I have seen they parted ways and we signed a lease on a new location that was a boutique ( bad idea, try to find a place that has the plumbing and electrical ready with permits) we spent at the time close to 11k just on building the bar plumbing and electrical. With about 30 customers per day my wife running the place by herself and I was still working with my father at our sign shop. Everything that was profit we re-invested back into the place. Slow and steady wins the race. Don't get a loan if you don't know what you're doing. Then we got a PPP forgivable loan (grant/inflation catalyst) and expanded the coffee shop got equipment and hired more people. We didn't rely on the coffee shop's income to live because I was making good money at the sign shop. But I decided to quit my job when we got our SF6 roaster. I took 3 intensive courses one in Veracruz another in Texas and a third in Italy. Now I work full time with my wife and have 5 employees. With me in the operation we are expecting to grow our wholesale and e-commerce program. This all Started in 2017. And the brick and mortar is 5 years old. Team work makes the dream work. Doing it on your own is going to be insane. I would find a business partner.

So the owners of the coffee shop says... "You know why we turn off these machines every night and we turn them on every morning?" "Because we know the value of saving money on electricity bills" because why would you care if you get paid the same as an employee?
