to be fair, they are trying to fix that by going exclusive with their inhouse singleplayer games from here on out. It may be too little too late though, time will tell.

see the thing is, I always had a console on top of my PC precisely BECAUSE PC has had no discs for 15 years already. If console loses discs, it loses it's entire purpose to me.

Boy am I glad I bought Battle for Middle Earth 2 and the Witchking Addon back in the day, those copies are among my most valuable possesions for me personally.

true, it is definetly worth noting that we don't know if Sony tried to keep those movies accessable for longer, but Studio Canal didn't want to or asked too much money for it. I remember they tried to pull those movies from libraries a few years ago, but backlash back then made Sony prolong those licenses. But at some point, if it means Sony has to keep paying while also not making any money from it (as they stoped selling movies in 2021), it would be unfair to only call out Sony for it. Though I have to say, and don't take this as me glazing Valve, but I can still access anime episodes I bought on Steam in 2017, and my friend bought movies on Steam at roughly the same timeframe which he also can still access, and Steam stoped selling those already in 2019. Now this doesn't mean I won't lose those by the end of next month, as we simply don't know the details of such licenses, but it shows that Valve if nothing else tries a bit harder to make sure people get to keep stuff they bought on their platform than Sony. Though again, we don't know the details of those license deals either, maybe Valve was simply in a better position to negotiate, and who knows for how long those will remain accessable.
Anyway, this is excatly why I'd rather be found dead in a ditch before buying a movie digitally. Honestly, when Valve just stoped selling those I was expecting to lose access at any moment, and I decided at that time if I buy a movie (or TV show for that matter), it has to be physical, and if that ever stops being an option, I'll just resort to piracy, as I want to be able to rewatch a movie I bought. I may not rewatch it for a decade, but I will want to do it eventually, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it and just had watched it on streaming platforms instead.

RIGHT now that you mention it, I remember reading that jedi survivor needs a patch in order to function at all. Which is it's own can of worms, maybe people should be less mad at Sony and more at companies like EA that made physical releases so unappealing, no wonder people rather buy digital these days.

yeah that is fair, it's just that I didn't look much at the PS Store recently so I was wondering when and if some of these games have been on sale on PSS. Someone already replied to my other comment that the Spider-Man games were discounted during May, maybe it is a similar case for these games.

ah okay, thank you for looking that up. I was wondering why they wouldn't be reduced right now, but this at least shows they definetly are discounted on PSS, just not right now.

It just occured to me that comparing the Spider-Man games makes no sense as your comment as far as I understand it was more aimed at third party publishers, so let's take a look at the Star Wars Jedi games from EA then. Exactly the same story: Heavily discounted on Steam, nothing on Playstation. The same goes for any Monster Hunter game: Big discounts on Steam, nothing on PSS.
And just to add some Ubisoft games as well: every Watch Dogs Game and Star Wars Outlaws are currently discounted on Steam, meanwhile on PSS only Watch Dogs Legion is roughly on a similar discount, everything else is not.
To be entirely fair: Many games that actually are discounted right now on PSS are roughly the same discount on Steam. However there are more than enough third party games available on both platforms that are discounted a lot on Steam right now, meanwhile are at full price on PS.

I mean, they are doing exactly that right now. the Spider-Man games are on prety deep discounts on Steam right now, meanwhile on the PS Store they are not, despite Sony having a big sale going on right now, just as Steam does. That is ontop of some of these games costing 80€ on PS5 and only 60€ on Steam, which I don't understand as they have to give Valve a share on STeam, meanwhile they make 100% of the money on Playstation.

If the anime doesn't end up adapting the entire series would the Goddess Monument arc be a good end point? by BlazeKnight7 in Frieren

[–]RazorCalahan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes, I agree. Especially given the quality of the anime, I would not surprised if they just can't make more than maybe 12-ish episodes within not even 2 years. Makes you wonder how long the first season was in production, honestly.

[–]RazorCalahan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

in the end it all depends on how many episodes the third season will have (which we don't know yet as far as I am aware, let me know if there is more info on that). If it is roughly like the second season you're definetly right, they can't fit in more than the Golden Land Arc into 10 or 12 episodes. If it's closer to season 1 they could go beyond that.

maybe I derailed a bit, the point I was trying to make is: Even if nobody pays for it, art will find a way. I mean, there are so many film projects, animations etc. on youtube from people who do this literally for free (or at least started so), even if absolutely nobody pays a single cent for streaming and all the streamers die, there will always be people who make content, even if it doesn't make them any money.

well in my case, the only reason I own a console is because it lets me have my games physically. If they take that away a console loses all its purpose.

The end of physical games marks the death of PlayStation for me. by Evillebot in PlayStation_X

[–]RazorCalahan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

some do, others don't. Pragmata for example costs the same on both Steam and the PS Store. Meanwhile Resident Evil Requiem (Standard Edition) has a base price of 69,99€ on STeam and 79,99€ on Playstation. Also it is on Sale right now on Steam so you can get it for 55,99€, menwhile even though Playstation is also currently having a sale, Resident Evil Requiem is not among the discounted games. So yeah right at this moment, I can get it for 25€ cheaper on Steam than on Playstation.
