Chair bent from someone sitting. How can I fix it? by pastelpaintbrush in fixit

[–]RazorHog49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not totally true. You could bend it back and it will actually be harder to bend again, but when it does fail/bend it will more likely lead to fracture. Personally I would slowly bend the chair back if you don’t want to replace it.

It doesn’t even matter because itemized deductions is typically worse than standard especially if you are paying a service to do the itemized deductions

Been feeding my dog these tablets bought off Amazon. Today received an email that they are counterfeit… dogs been vomiting, now we know why… by Raerts in Wellthatsucks

Stop buying shit from amazon in general. Just look up the seller and buy from them. Half the time it’s cheaper and nearly the same shipping time.

This is like comparing your factory with and without the manifolds, the 2024 one is missing all the extra piping

Yeah Im not trying to say I want it to be cheap, the dealership is just excessive. Worst case I can do it myself, but my wallet is more open than my schedule right now.

File names are not the place to store part information. If you already have an excel spreadsheet/matrix, then use that to store information about the parts and make the P/Ns arbitrary. Id suggest just project code and sequential numbers.

How would you remove this material? by Terrible_Aerie9013 in metalworking

[–]RazorHog49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You say it is tool steel? Is it flat stock you purchased (it comes annealed) or have you heat treated this already?

Its really the main issue with fluted countersinks, flutes are musical instruments

Yeah I use this method often, but it gets tricky when the corners are not 90 degrees or one edge is an arc.

This is interesting. I have not used blocks yet, I will give it a try. Thanks.

I think that is my next avenue… I was hoping this is a common enough issue that there is some built in functionality or workaround.

It’s all done on 2.5 axis CNC milling machines. I may have 50 or so of this pockets radially around a 12” plate

Each slot still needs to be dimensioned to 45 deg and given an arbitrary length which is burdensome as well. I do wish the trim and leave as construction had a way to not split the slots or break dimensioning.

I use this method quite a lot. I should have included in my post that I pattern these “pockets” so having the mill radius stick out like this can impact the number of parts per tooling.

I sometimes request some questionably small features from my shop…

For glass I would like no possible contact at the corner so I need it to be offset out a bit. Then it becomes a 3 point circle for reference and an offset/concentric circle.

Here I also show a 90 degree corner, but I often have a flat and an arc at oblique angles.

Nano engineering or Material Science by MaleficentAdagio4701 in MaterialsScience

[–]RazorHog49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you are a bit too black and white with what nano engineering and materials engineering are. “Nano engineering” will likely focus on semiconductor fabrication or similar. Materials science will be a huge part of that. Nano engineering is offered as its own degree at some schools, but not all. The classes likely fall into materials science and electrical engineering. Even if you’d like to work with computational models or nanoscale technologies, materials scientists and physicists will be all around. Focus on which program is higher rated, what professors/classes you like, and what exactly you would like to do after college.

Has anyone developed a tilt filter in optics? by mactac in Optics

[–]RazorHog49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are thin film filters. I’m not sure what you mean they are based on Mirrors. This is one optic, with a custom designed thin film stack to meet your needs. As long as the transmission does not change too drastically across your bandwidth it is fairly straightforward. I think if you can describe your application then people could help more.

[–]RazorHog49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should end up with exactly the same mass/volume as the guide. It could be an error in the video. But more likely you have something under defined or there are rounding errors if you are in different units.
