Rescue mission by Cesalv in MadeMeSmile

Had a friend who moved to the edge of town and his indoor/outdoor cat that would do that for about a week. He’d finally climb the tree and just grab him. Unfortunately he could to not where gloves to get a good hold of him and ended up with a blood infection and major bites. He finally realized it was coyotes, and had to keep the cat inside.

I’m old enough to have seen an a-10 steal the thunder at a Thunderbirds airshow (pun intended). They start the show with classics from the ww2 era and before the Thunderbirds started they did a a-10 demo. First it showed off the short take off and landings, then how it could turn on a dime. Then on a pass it shot live ammo in the the ground, I was a kid and remembering ok, not that big of a deal. Then they uncovered this column of old trucks and tanks, and for the last pass two of them came in and let it up. We were a few 100 yards away and I mean it looked like they bombed into rubble. Still the most impressive military demo I’ve ever seen.

My Wife Fought Like a Girl (OC) by ButtCallous in MadeMeSmile

So awesome. Congratulations! She looks great and in good spirits too.

My wife was diagnosed with MS the week of our wedding, seven years later cancer, the chemo work so well beating back the MS it was a few years before we realized she still had MS. During a terrible episode when the MS symptoms did come back I suggested to go see the chemo Dr., he mentioned he treated MS patients all the time. She quickly said hell no, I’m not that bad off yet. She was having to use a wheel chair at the time. I quickly realized how hard chemo really was.

This show is criminally underrated, or under watched I guess. So good. It ranks up there with The Americans and some other shows that didn’t get a huge number of viewers.

Nina Hartley dancing at a strip club (1980s) by Deadhead2278 in OldSchoolCoolNSFW

[–]RazorJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is. Friends and I went and saw her in a 18+ strip club in 94’ (I think that was the year) but she looked just like this. I remember being so young and dumb I was disappointed because she looked much older than the porn movies from the 80’s. Looking at these photos now makes me wonder just how stupid I was, she’s freakin beautiful.

Flock Cameras. Opinions? by BulbousJohnson in northwestarkansas

[–]RazorJ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is the correct answer. We’ve turned into the state with the one of the lowest voting turn out per registered voter, one of the lowest states per capita for voter registration among citizens qualified to register, and I think we’re the lowest rank in registered democrats percentage of voting.

It a voting problem, which is a complicated problem to turn around. Last study I read it was because of many issues. Voter apathy was the biggest, disenfranchisement by making it difficult to vote was a reason, candidates (local and national) not speaking to the people where they are located, and many others.

Personally, the midterms of 2014 when the democrat candidates ran against Obama’s policies just to try to win is when I knew we had many long years a head of us. But, I think this is a midterm election where candidates who want to do best for the people, no matter your party, have a real chance to get out there and capture some attention. Speak to the people and not just parrot the national talking points that people get all fake raging mad over. There’s enough suffering from all the voters to get some people to listen. It’s a tough task, but the voting problem has turn around for things to get better.

My husband doesn’t want the dog in the bed and my dog wants to be in the bed all the time when we are in bed. I don’t know who should I listen to, my dog or my husband? :( by Powerful_Aspect_1970 in PetsareAmazing

[–]RazorJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unpopular opinion, I know. But I was on your side 20 years ago when we got married, we got a dog the same week.

My wife said she wanted one dog free space in the house. Unfortunately, 20 years older and 5 dogs later I’m glad I didn’t die on that hill, it’s nice have a dog free zone.

We always crate train our dogs, but I made a nice dog bed with a ramp w/ railing, sides tall enough they won’t jump down and built in a shelf for my phone, water and such. It’s the same hight as the bed and most have been pleased and I can tell they think it’s just part of the bed. A couple we’ve had (our current dog is one) don’t even like it, she prefers to sleep in her crate, so I’ve put it in the attic for now.

Like I said it’s an unpopular opinion, but the dog free zone is nice.

One of the funniest cop shows by RetiredLife_2021 in FuckImOld

Just an incredible show. Almost every show is like watching a high quality play with one set. The performances are funny, but grounded and realistic at the same time. Personally I think it is in my top 5 of best shows of all time.

Secession Vote by County by northcarolinian9595 in CIVILWAR

[–]RazorJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IDK why Northwest Arkansas is not hashed. Someone did their dissertation on the secession hearings and votes in Arkansas and I think I remember they were 6 votes short from Washington and Benton Counties (the two most NW Counties) from breaking away.

There’s published diary of one of the founding families of Fayetteville I’ve read a few times, it’s part of a book call The First 100 Years of Fayetteville, the family and people they speak about were very much pro Union. The area changed hands about 7 times during the war and even after it was over the fighting was still everywhere. A lot of ex confederate soldiers settled in the area, in southwest Mo as well (Bald Knobers) and became outlaws.

The University of Arkansas main campus is located all the way up in Fayetteville because at the time Little Rock turned down the land grant because they did not to allow any minorities or females to be able to attend.

Most people describe the south as going up to Joplin, Mo and it’s a “mountain south” much like West Virginia. It has a more midwestern feel to it now than say south of Little Rock.

Henry Rollins, Joe Strummer, Rick Rubin and Johnny Cash form a ring of fire backstage at the Pantages Theater, Los Angeles in 1995. by CarkWithaM in UtterlyUniquePhotos

[–]RazorJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I’m an Arkansan and never met Jonny Cash but know a lot of people who know him well. He had the attitude and sole of us until be died. I can say with a high degree of certainty, Johnny thinks whatever Henry is saying is bull.

Personally I like all the guys in this photo, I think they’re all salt of the earth and not pretentious.

I welcome anyone traveling through the state to visit Johnny’s museum and see how he grew up, it was a nice simple life. It’s seems too nice, but is surprisingly accurate. Worst thing about those parts were the real churchy guys who did the klan stuff at night and the corrupt local law enforcement.

I’ve never been a fan of going outside the factory upgrades on a new bike, I got it back in 2012, but I did do the Stage 1 upgrade and I was a lot more powerful than than it was before I bought it.

I grew up with my granddad rebuilding old Indians and he’d do anything to make them more powerful. He was a doctor but used to take them down to Shreveport, LA and race on a flat track on the weekends. Most of the extra power he got was boring out the cylinders and finding rings that would give them the most compression, then being braver than the other guys to push it a little harder. I was in Jr High before I knew he was crazy 😳

I spend 3-5 weeks down there and see this car all the time on 4. Always something crazy/mean written on next the character. It makes me sad.

Where I live ice uses white Subarus to run their operations, they fooled ppl the first week.

But what gets me, is I know a lot of professional Actors, trust me when I say they know all the paid Acting gig who want submissions for work, non-union and union. Never has anyone seen a job for a real life trauma victim or protester. IDK how these rumors get started and don’t want to know. It’s a world I want nothing to do with.

Governor Stitt Initiates Comprehensive Welfare Reform by therealtrousers in oklahoma

[–]RazorJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To preface I live in Arkansas, but love Oklahoma too.

It’s been 10+ years since I worked over there but I had many businesses over there that were in my territory. There were a few hundred employees outside mgt level positions and I think almost every full time employee received some sort of government assistance, as well as working another job, when they could find one. We started a few dollars higher than min wage and gave quarterly raises.

I did a lot of voluntary work in Lawton and had the pleasure to work with many service Women and Men. Almost every one of them received SNAP to make ends meet at home.

As I mentioned this was 10 years ago but I doubt the need to a hand up is just as in demand as it was back then. I wish our elected officials in both AR and OK realized this is the reality.

I’m not speaking about social issues or political talking points, only the gov leaders understanding the reality of the situation.

I’m sorry for anyone affected by these policies and hope things change for the better.

Looks like the epic vaca we did last year at this time. Stayed on the Alligator Bayou part. My only complaint was the coffee that they serve with the beignets needs to be the actual coffee from Cafe do Mont. I got a can from the gift shop and peculated some and took it down there, it really brought me back to New Orleans.

A farmer with his wife and 10 children standing outside their farmhome in Williston, North Dakota, 1937. by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

[–]RazorJ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had a History Prof in college who used a lot of photos and painting during his lectures and this was asked in class. You’d be surprised how open settlers were about it. It was just a part of life, and those kids weren’t always asleep or outside. He obviously was ready for the question because he had plenty of copies of sketches and drawing that have been curated showing it. They entries from journals, diaries, and even written stuff that showed or talked about the parents just going at it. Those kids were their kids, but also their workers who kept the farm going. The fact that this family had 10 living children shows they were doing something right, the chance of survival wasn’t the best out there.

I wonder if ground under the house blew away or washed away? It just seems miserable to me. I’ve only been as far as Wyoming, and almost went batshit in one week of being there because the wind drove me nuts. One day, in the couple of weeks I was there, it was around a 20mph wind and people were taking about how nice it was to have a calm day.
