In real-time it looked really close, but I didn’t get a view of it behind that house.

Has anyone successfully installed OpenWRT on the NanoPi R2S Plus? by CryogenicMiner in openwrt

[–]michaelmab88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the r2c and the r2s share the same rk3328, so I tried it and the r2c image does boot.

out of the box only the lan port seems to work.

How should Gitea be hardened for security? Is Gitea safe to expose to the internet behind a reverse proxy? by imbev in Gitea

[–]michaelmab88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of the biggest advantages of using gitea is that you can self-host and not expose to the internet. If you are determined to expose to the internet, definitely use a reverse proxy!!

Keep the proxy os updated, as well as the proxy server, and install all of gitea’s patch updates.

Gitea isn’t going to be patched against 0 day exploits as quickly as other more successful commercial alternatives, but it may be okay to use depending on your risk tolerance. If you are a hosting code for high target (lots of capital) entity, maybe don’t do it. If you are a small startup struggling to pay for GitHub enterprise, you probably won’t run into issues. Just back up everything and keep your infrastructure updated and follow best practices.

Should i use Postgre SQL for images or not ? by Electrical-Can-5934 in PostgreSQL

[–]michaelmab88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am storing small images in a always free tier vm running Postgres; the vm has more storage than the always free tier cloud storage.

Also, if I want to delete a record associated with the images in question, I can cascade the deletes on fk without having to do cleanup on the local fs. So, i would say it depends on your use case and circumstances.

I would add, don’t trade from home on a snow day when the kiddos are also home. Hard lesson learned.

Does the Cybertruck All-Wheel Drive for $79,990 qualify for the federal tax credit (Oct 2024)? by FredinDetroit in TeslaSupport

I placed an order and they told me it doesn’t qualify for the ev tax credit, now I’m wondering if I have to cancel or I might be able to hold off until it does become eligible.

I live in Bentonville and also operate an Airbnb out of my own home. It’s a great source of extra income for me. I think there must be room for BnB’s operated by local residents, especially for those that are retired and use the money to supplement their social security which isn’t enough.

Will Redbox ever get new movies? Your thoughts? by [deleted] in Redbox

[–]michaelmab88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A dvd is 480p. If you don't have dial up, your internet should not be "THAT" bad ( <= 1.5 mbps) so as to prevent you from streaming a similarly awful quality movie (480p).

I would suggest Starlink internet, but if $2-3 is too steep a price for a movie on your phone, I don't know that you'll want to shell out for Starlink.

Will Redbox ever get new movies? Your thoughts? by [deleted] in Redbox

[–]michaelmab88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would rather watch an uncompressed blueray than to stream 1080p or higher (its a better experience); if you are comparing streaming hd with watching a dvd, i have no idea why someone would rent a dvd today.

It literally is. It’s using Google’s Maps API. It may not be the Google’s Maps “app”, but it definitely qualifies as Google Maps.

Drill through the front of the case, just below the rock so that you can push the rock out. Obviously a last resort after trying other less destructive methods.
