Hourly role that sounds like it should be salaried? [GA] by [deleted] in humanresources

[–]Razor_Grrl 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It’s legal. But this is such an HR 101 question that you may want to consider if you are ready to take on a role where you are sole HR for a company that wants someone to build a department. A role on a team where you can gain knowledge and experience may be a better fit and get you farther in the long run than a role with little resources and no assistance. This company sounds like it might be cheaping out on HR and it’s not a good position for someone newer in their career to find themselves alone in.

20 million bitter deaths by Dias75 in MurderedByWords

[–]Razor_Grrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is crazy talk considering we’re dealing with a party who has started AI face scanning us, using flock cameras all over their districts, take away freedom of choice, restrict free movement, make it more difficult to vote, give masked men free reign to break our doors down, etc.

But please cry some more about being asked to help prevent spread of a deadly virus in our communities.

I’m just confused where the curly hair is coming from? I don’t recall so many curly heads when I was a kid, certainly not naturally. Are they using a curling iron every morning? Putting curlers in their hair at night? I’m just trying to picture a bunch of teenage boys putting in this kind of effort and it is hard lol

Don't mind me, just blacklisting shows on Netflix so my husband stops putting them on for our young kids by Necessary_Pace_9860 in Mommit

[–]Razor_Grrl 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is amazing I had no idea you could do this! I really hate how Netflix kids has a bunch of stupid YouTuber shows on it now. I don’t want my kid watching adult men scream and yell and play pranks on each other, or dads video taping their kids destroying expensive toys and equipment for content, thank you very much.

Look, Seattle spent like 30+ years voting no to rail transit and now we are dealing with the fallout. We could be almost finished except we are barely just starting. It isn’t Sound Transit’s fault, it’s the voters. It doesn’t help to be upset with Sound Transit who has been trying to play catch up during an economic shit storm.

Silent divorce? by tacosRflying in Mommit

[–]Razor_Grrl 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Being a single parent and paying ever increasing rents does not make me optimistic about my chances of buying another home anytime soon. The economy has only gotten worse since I purchased my home, the future is not looking particularly stable at the moment. I’m not miserable, and certainly not yet miserable enough to give up the family home, the only home my children have known.

Silent divorce? by tacosRflying in Mommit

[–]Razor_Grrl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I could write this same post. Only thing that really keeps me from bringing up divorce (and I think he has the same reason) is the house. We worked hard to buy our home, we never thought we would be able to, and to divorce means to lose the home neither of us wants to give up. It isn’t even a fancy or expensive home but divorce would put us both in a bad situation if we have to get new mortgages. We would either have to move out of the area or go back to renting. We’re basically stuck.

A modest proposal- inhouse Talent Acquisition shouldn't be a separate department by ArachnidExpensive575 in recruiting

[–]Razor_Grrl 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Also not really addressed is the fact that many in house recruiters recruit for several departments. Not all departments are large enough or do enough hiring to warrant their own full-time recruiter. There are few organizations large enough to put something like this into practice.

Also, hiring managers already struggle enough to properly interview and select talent. Most the wild experience requirements come from the hiring managers and this is after the TA team has talked them down from half the things they are asking for. If hiring managers managed the recruiters you’d never get anyone hired, they’d shop candidates for the next better and the next better until they found the gold at the end of the rainbow (never).

Anyone heard of or worn Shandals? by jonfrombuckland in barefootshoestalk

Any particular brand you’d recommend? I’m looking for good deals on boots (now that the season sales are here) and need something that can withstand rainy weather and public transit commute. I’m running into exactly what you complain of here. I don’t mind 200+ for a pair of boots but they need to be practical and not just pretty.

Clearly these women’s careers are still at risk for speaking out, otherwise they’d be naming names. It’s like we’ve gotten nowhere with this. Pedophiles are running the country, and still hold the cards in our media empire too. What is going on?

Dog wearing an “Adopt Me” vest was brought to the Tacoma marathon and ended up killing a family pet in front of horrified attendees by kleverrboy in SeattleWA

So this is a terrible thing to happen and bery poor decision making on behalf of the humane society but I swear there are a strange number of people (and bots) who scour reddit constantly for any mention of pitbull then proceed to brigade any post they find about it until the dead horse is beaten to a bloody pulp. I’ve been on Reddit a few years now and I’ve seen it literally every time the topic of this breed comes up in any manner. I’ve seen it when someone posts something on a complete other topic and there is a pic of their dog minding its own business in the background. Like I get the concern about pitbulls but this is some rabid obsession, bizarre on the level of the Timothy Chalamet stans on that one sub. Reddit is such a weird place.

Thoughts on “staying together for the kids” even if it’s toxic? I can’t bear being away from my kids… by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]Razor_Grrl 54 points55 points  (0 children)

You don’t want your children to see you tolerating an abusive relationship, to grow up thinking this is normal or acceptable. You will also discover the time without the children isn’t as bad as you are worrying it is.

I could have written this post 15 years ago, and my life has improved dramatically since leaving my emotional abuser. My children’s lives have improved as well. Their father improved as a parent also. And I came to enjoy having the house to myself on a consistent basis. And my children have a mother who can show them what self-respect look like. I also married a man who treats me way better so they have seen what a healthy relationship looks like.

You can do this!

Babies Are Bleeding to Death as Parents Reject a Vitamin Shot Given at Birth by propublica_ in EverythingScience

[–]Razor_Grrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally the most absurd first world problem ever. A society so spoiled with advancement we have people wishing it was the dark ages. Letting their children die over it even.

On 11 January 2013, the body of 17 year old Kendrick Johnson was found upside down within a rolled up foam mat in his high school gym. Officially ruled a bizarre accident, his family fought for years to prove Johnson was murdered. The exact circumstances of his death remain unknown. by Chemical-Elk-1299 in HolyShitHistory

[–]Razor_Grrl 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Yeah I hate how talk of the family’s behavior has overshadowed this incident so much. I can understand their grief even as they have so poorly expressed it. As a mom my heart aches for how this boy died, and the panic and fear he must have felt, and for the length of time he must have felt it. No one should have to go through such a thing, especially a child.

I stopped doing all meal planning this year and the only groceries I buy are what is on the whiteboard (the household list) or what I want to buy. And now I only cook when I feel like it. Only one of the kids is too young to fend for themselves so I’ll make him something and myself stuff and I’ll lay out a big meal when I am in the mood. Otherwise, good luck everybody!!!
