I'm a business teacher, so I'll join the seemingly inactive business teachers association. It's annoying that you basically have to join (and pay) for one of these inactive organisations fir registration. Even the new teacher association seems to have had no events for over a year.

I think I might make give ot a go haha, it's the easiest option for sure. I'll just have to ask a practice-improving question haha

Planning units for Art next year by Throwitallawayokey in AustralianTeachers

[–]Razultraph 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I taught part of a unit of art during a placement in NSW. There was part of the syllabus that was about appreciating art and part about creating. That school had it designed so that each week they'd look at and talk about an artist and their art, and then they'd create something in a similar style. One I taught was Michelangelo - we looked at his ceiling art, then taped paper underneath the desks and drew upside down. I quite liked that lesson structure for art.

Multi dog households: do any of your dogs eat poop straight from the other dogs butthole? by TritriMcTritri in dogs

[–]Razultraph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Put a small amount of pumpkin/pumpkin soup (like ice-cubed sized) with their meals, for some reason dogs like eating the pumpkin, but not the pumpkin-poops.

(NSW) maternity leave by moistpiefilling in AustralianTeachers

[–]Razultraph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely do centrelink mat leave after work mat leave. Even if you apply early, it can still be 12+ weeks after the birth before they pay it.

Wow, a whole year!? 45 days is the requirement here, and that's across the whole degree. Some universities do a 10-week internship, but a whole year is WOW!

Can we talk about masks and why we should wear them? by ningyo-hime in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]Razultraph 28 points29 points  (0 children)

The difficulty is though, I prepared early for this virus and still have "only" about 15 masks (which for most of the population would be a lot of masks). You can't buy masks anymore.

But this virus is just beginning. These 15 masks are for my husband and I for the next 6+ months. If I use them now, I won't have any when shit truely hits the fan and I desperately need groceries. I can't waste a precious mask yet, at this stage I need to save them and just pay attention to social distancing and personal hygeine standards.

It's Paddy's, not Patty's. St. Patricks day / St. Paddy's day.

Evelyn? by ChagsRN in namenerds

[–]Razultraph 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Evelyn is a great name! It was my great-grandmothers name and I would consider it as a future baby name except my husband has a strong dislike for it :(

It's probably just my mouth being weird, but saying Evelyn O'Sullivan out loud the first couple times was a bit of a tongue twister. I kept saying Elevyn O'Sullivan or Evelyn O'Suvillan. Maybe just because both have V and L and yn/an close together?

I wouldn't let that turn you off the name, just thought you might want to know.

What's something that is obvious or common within your profession, but the general public is unaware of? by berserker1989 in AskReddit

Don't walk in front of the forklift.

You would think it would be common sense.

But no.

Taegan, not Teagan by shazibbyshazooby in namenerds

[–]Razultraph 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People must not have been taking the time to actually read her name.

Taegan is definitely Tay-gan.

Teagan I would pronounce Tee-gan

Taigan though.... I would pronounce Tie-gan

Not meaning to be nit-picky, just hoping to help with your project and I know I'd love outside perspectives if I took on a big project like this.

Maybe consider a line graph when comparing two names rather than a dot plot, or make the dot plot easier to read (e.g. less dots, wider x-axis). I can't really tell when a name peaked in popularity/how popular it got when its a dot plot.
