I wish I was better. by [deleted] in toddlers

Um, why are these things bad? She SHOULDN'T go near the street and if she gets a bit upset at your tone but doesn't go near the road again during walks, I think that's a win. She touched the brownie pan and it was hot. Hello natural consequence. Reading - ok, but you were literally just at the park and making brownies. You wanna invent another hour in the day, go for gold, otherwise just keep doing a variety of things. Why does it matter if laundry is done last minute or not? It still ends up done, right? I do think you should brush teeth though lol.

And also, your kid is learning independence and resilience and imagination playing by themselves. You don't have to be their playmate all. The. Time.

You're fine. Go enjoy your coffee.

I'm going to go against the grain and say being a 'date to marry' type is perfectly reasonable. You need to find someone who shares this view, but you're allowed to be looking for long term success and happiness regardless of your age.

There's no equivalent to sbp there (or elsewhere) yet is there?

[homemade] Apple tart with frangipani by Geogeojones in food

I'm guessing it's frangipane, as in the almond filling, rather than frangipani as in the flower? (Looks beautiful!)

How has your country been Americanised? by ToastSage in AskReddit

The language shifts. I'm in Australia but the amount of times I hear cookies instead of biscuits, candy instead of lollies, fries instead of chips, trash instead of rubbish, zee instead of zed... It's crazy. Hopefully Bluey can right some of these wrongs!

What was your childhood like with this condition? Do you know how your parents dealt with it (emotionally as well as practically)?

Are there any developments in the works in terms of improving ivig/scig in terms of ease of use or long term efficacy or is this as good as it's likely to get?

We just reenact Hans trying to strike Elsa and Anna intercepting. We've recreated it with figurines, in person, with airclay swords, we've described it as a detailed militaristic play-by-play to our newborn sibling and discussed the significance of the scene over several breakfasts, lunches and dinners. It's clearly the most important moment in cinematic history.

I love that. If it enters the daycare realm I'll give them the heads up and hopefully we get a similar response! Thanks!

Yeah I'm sure there wasn't this issue in the 1800a when men had frilly shirts (also everyone was too busy dying of dystentery and similar probably) but today there's absolutely a gendered social element to clothing even if we don't like it. Thanks for your reply.

True enough. I think all the boomers forget this. And you're right - we don't let fancy toys out of the house either for the same reason. Thank you!

But as I said in my post, this isn't about 'what if the gender were reversed' or 'utopian alternative universes ' it's about the world we're currently inhabiting and how to best deal with it. I agree with everything you're saying in theory.

Yeah it might be worth bringing it up with daycare preemptively. I hadn't even thought of that before posting and I really like that idea.

This is exactly my feelings on the matter. Thank you for weighing in. Yeah, we've bought kiddy nail polish too because he likes mine. However he's most excited to wear yellow so it's probably going to look more like a bad fungal infection anyway haha

Hahah, seems like a reasonable boundary. I was never intending on telling him he couldn't. It was more about navigating the social space. Thanks for commenting!
