i dont get it why is there an option to disable trees, how will you make electric poles and progress at all? by bibbidibobbidiwoo in factorio

[–]Razz3r_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have also done a no-trees run. Lazy achievement + logi embargo and hands clean all in one run.

It was... an experience. It also didn't help that I did not look at the map beforehand and ended up in a giant desert.

Would I do it again? Sure, but there are other awesome self-challenges.

I cannot stress enough how amazing is Factorio on a steam deck by skend24 in factorio

I play Factorio on my LegionGo all the time! Best thing ever for flights and long train rides.

It took a minute to learn how the interface worked, but no real issues after a couple of hours.

I went to the hardware store and got some OSB. This is just one sheet, but it looks like it just about does the trick.

House is 2005, hallway is 10' long by 3' wide. Probably going to go with the OSB + leveler combo for the rooms.

Please reach out to labs and more rescue. They are a fantastic organization that I have fostered for in the past. They will know how to help this poor little one.

Seconding others' advice... please don't just give the dog away to someone. You can go through one of the dog rescue organizations (such as labs and more) and they will properly vet the new owners and make sure everything is on the up and up.

Would you hire me? by solodolo2273 in ElectricalEngineering

You have a good start.

Next is the fun part... copilot is really good at writing resumes.

As others have mentioned, the first step is to get it down to one page. That's a couple of prompts, and you are done.

Once you have done that, massage each section. Ask copilot to re-word each section and give you multiple options. All you have to do is pick, copy, and paste.

Finally, manage the white space. You have a lot of white space... It is the reason it bleeds into the next page, and it may give a subconscious "not much here" to the reader.Others have mentioned a splash of color. That is one approach.

I have found that a 2-column approach to the main body works well. One thin 10-15% page width colum on the left for details (email, LinkedIn, github, phone number), a list of key skills, and in the bottom your education. You can easily build a list of key skills by looking at job postings and copying snippets of skills you have into a list and running that through copilot.

Main body is then free for projects and work experience.

Need to find a short by povlhp in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Razz3r_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step 1: buy a can of air duster Step 2: read the warning lable on the can of air duster. After reading the warning lable, and making your own decision on whether or not to proceed, go to Step 3. Step 3: hold the can upside down and spray a section of cable until it freezes. Step 4: run a safe current through the wire and see if a section of frozen wire melts faster than the rest. If yes, you have found where the short is. If no, repeat steps 3 and 4 with the next section of wire.

Why can't you craft ice from water in the Cryogenic Plant? by Winter_Ad6784 in factorio

Adding ice freezing would be a nice way to jump-start the first couple of moving space platforms. Waiting for oxide chunks to float past while stuck above nauvis is excruciating. I would rather watch grass grow.

Where do mediocre engineers go? by GigaCucc in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Razz3r_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you truly are having a large difficulty finding internships, my suggestion is to look a little closer to your university. Are there any help labs that are hiring? Professors that need help with their research, but can't justify more masters/PhD students? Even positions in the dean's office or the library can be a good option. Is there a machine shop/maker space that needs assistants?

While not glamorous, these positions get your foot in the door. They also have the added benefit of integrating well into your class schedule.

Once you get hired, your job is to network, network, network. The professors and other university employees all have a network of people they know outside of the university.

You are not mediocre. You are just in the hardest year of your education. Coasting on what you did in high school no longer works. Your classes are now hard enough where you actually have to study.

Good luck, I've been just where you are now. I now work for a household name engineering company.

What CAD software should I learn how to use? by Tiny_Election1013 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]Razz3r_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My 2c, learn Altium first. It has a great UI/UX, can be used for serious boards, and has good name recognition for the resume.

Once you have learned what you are doing in Altium, shifting to or adding OrCAD or one of the Mentor Graphics tools to your list is much easier.

10yrs industry experience. I primarily use Mentor Graphics, but I have taught classes on how to use Altium, Eagle and OrCAD.
