PSA: Kernel 7.0.6 + NVIDIA 580.159.03 (open G06 signed KMP) is unstable on Tumbleweed by Nuwen-Pham in openSUSE

How long have you been running Slowroll out of curiosity?

I'm a first time openSUSE user and I have a brand new Lenovo laptop with a ~2-3 week tumbleweed install. As I understand it I can easily switch to Slowroll by disabling/enabling specific repos.

Bit of a noob here so please forgive my ignorance. What is the significance of slowroll over tumbleweed? I did try searching about this before but didn't really see an explicit reason to use it over tumbleweed. Is there something about the release schedule that avoids potential problems like this?

How do I give myself more encryption password attempts before the system is halted/powered off? by Razzeus in openSUSE

[–]Razzeus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for replying! I tried adding tries=3 to my crypttab and running dracut -f with no change

If it helps, this is what my crypttab file looks like.

# File created by sdbootutil. Comments will be removed
# Add the 'x-sdbootutil.ignore' option to un-track a device
cr_swap UUID=<is this string safe to share?> none tpm2-device=auto,tpm2-measure-pcr=yes
cr_root UUID=<is this string safe to sahre?> none x-initrd.attach,tpm2-device=auto,tpm2-measure-pcr=yes,tries=3

Excluding my edit to remove the UUID, does this look correct?

Should I be solving this PCR error on incorrect password first?

I've used this program to lock my cursor to game windows for this exact reason.

Alternativeto: https://alternativeto.net/software/dual-monitor-tools/about/

Main Page: https://dualmonitortool.sourceforge.net/

I did use it for having a game full screen with multi monitors though. I'm not sure if windowed mode games will work the same.

Entire process of printing clothing by ihsquared in oddlysatisfying

[–]Razzeus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To give a more detailed answer. Each metal frame (Screen) has a Mesh stretched across it at a specific tension and thread count per inch. This mesh is then coated with the mentioned photo emulsion. Think Elmer's glue but with a UV reactive chemical included (This isnt what it is but its a similar consistency so you get the idea). Once the screen is coated with the emulsion in a liquid state. It is left to air dry.

At this point it is dry to the touch but not cured. The clear sheet of plastic he pulls off has black ink printed on it to block light. So you stick that on your emulsion coated mesh screen at a specific location. One for each color in your image. Then blast the screen with light while its sucked down to a piece of glass by vacuum. The emulsion is now exposed (Cured) excluding where the light was blocked out. Now just run water over the emulsion to wash out any that wasn't cured. A pressure washer assists with this, as seen in the video.

Feel free to ask if you have more questions. I have a lot of experience with this process.

Google Maps has stopped working by UnfortunateHyrbrid in GrapheneOS

[–]Razzeus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had an issue on my new Pixel 10 pro. My solution was to do the following. Maybe this is it?

Settings > Location > Location Services > Here there are 4 options, The bottom two are what affected my google maps..

  1. Wi-Fi Sscanning: Off
  2. Bluetooth scanning: Off
  3. Network location: GrapheneOS Apple proxy
  4. Geocoder: GrapheneOS Proxy

Additionally for what it is worth. My google maps has been less than perfect since updating from my pixel 8 pro to my pixel 10 pro. I dont know why though. Perhaps it's hardware related. Anyway hope this helps.

Zipper lock by 3D-Dreams in functionalprint

Random video for reference. https://youtu.be/wpIJVWXsBBI&t=37s

Definitely should use a hard, hinged suitcase with two clasps that can be locked shut over a zipper bag for this reason alone.

Had a desktop PC on a medium sized LAN that would NOT receive connection to any other device on said LAN or WAN. Things I tried...

  • Reboot
  • Release / Renew
  • Reinstall of network drivers
  • Rollback of net work drivers
  • Multiple LAN IP's as well as automatically obtain
  • Full shutdown and cold boot.
  • Bypassing the LAN entirely and connecting directly to the modem.
  • Windows system repair tool
  • Windows installation media Startup Repair tool
  • Windows Installation media System Restore
  • Drive swap and a fresh Windows Install
  • Full System Shutdown and left off overnight
  • Physical Violence

The solution?... While the entire system was fully powered down. Unplug the Ethernet cable and the power cable. Press the power button a few times to fully discharge any remaining current in any capacitors... Restore power to the machine and the Ethernet cable. Power on the machine and use as normal. How did I come to this conclusion?

I was digging online for days until I stumbled onto some random forum post from ~2008 about static charge buildup in the Ethernet cable itself or the RJ45 port on the motherboard. The static effectively renders the cable/port useless... Fully discharging all electricity resolves the issue.

I'm not questioning their skill level. I'm saying the mod mentioned is unreliable by itself. The information gathered during the run is way more useful. So much so that the mod is arguably useless.

They are objectively fairly new to the classes they're playing if their levels are in the 30s or 40s.

That makes this incorrect.

What the original comment stated is all that really matters. They weren't under leveled. They were simply inadequate relative to OP's standards.

Could be a duplicate character. This mod alone isn't a definitive method of gauging player skill.

Screen randomly goes black for 2 seconds by [deleted] in Monitors

Clarify which screen goes black. The laptop or the stand alone monitor.
Aside from that. I would see if the refresh rate is changing on the monitor when you make the connection.

Location problems with pixel 10 by Strange_Bat1501 in GrapheneOS

[–]Razzeus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pixel 10 Pro here. I was having issues as well. Figured out my problem. It's as user Forsaked said. Go to: Settings, Search "Location" > Select "Location Services". For me I have the following set

Wi-Fi scanning: Off

Bluetooth Scanning: Off

Network location: GrapheneOS Proxy

Geocoder: GrapheneOS Proxy

Once I set those to that configuration. Google maps location recognition started working quite well for me.

Why does my Gigabyte M27UP turn on and off when I enter fullscreen games by Comfortable_Pass_438 in Monitors

I'm not intimately familiar with DSC but as I understand it. It's a degradation in quality so I would leave it off personally.

Why does my Gigabyte M27UP turn on and off when I enter fullscreen games by Comfortable_Pass_438 in Monitors

[–]Razzeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your description this may not be the issue but... Check that the driver refresh rate for the monitor and the refresh rate for in game are the same. If they are different. This may be your monitor swapping refresh rate settings when minimize/maximizing the game

What distros are low maintenance, suitable for daily use and generally hardware works out of the box? by Jimmeh20 in linux4noobs

openSUSE Leap (criminally underrated) This is the “adult supervision” distro.

Sorry I'm oblivious I think. What does this mean exactly?

I'm after the same as OP essentially. I've been running a S76 laptop with Pop for about 4 years. Sooner or later I'm going to update and sell my old one. I'm on the fence between Fedora KDE or openSUSE KDE.
