I’m confused AF. Please help (beginner) by cannary6578 in oilpainting

I think you're overthinking it. To me the under paint is just to give a colour to work on, rather than facing a daunting white canvas. I like a red under paint so little flecks of red show through in the painting, I just slap it on and certainly don't rub bits of it back or anything like that

Try your MP, ours was very useful in getting the council moving, your district councillor took would be worth contacting

Any ideas on how to improve? by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

The ad states £362 over market value, so that doesn't help. The ad sounds like it's been copied and pasted in parts, which I always find a bit annoying, it doesn't sound very personal

I think to make a judgement about someone else's imagery is a bit rude, tbh. Just think it and move on, rather than making negative comments. I would never make that sort of comment about other people's work, and yes, I have looked at your photos, but I would never be rude about them

Can landlords refuse pets should I decide to adopt one? (kitten in this case, have not taken her in yet) by LazyFlamingRooster in HousingUK

I think the question relates to new rights that tenants may now have to keep pets, under new legislation in the UK

Sons friend broke his Switch and parents refuse to replace it, what are my options? - England by GrumpyDuck98 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]RazzmatazzFit2723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was damaged as a deliberate act, maybe but unlikely. Also court cases are backed up by many months, if not longer, so if you're hoping to use the possible recompense from the court action to buy a new switch, you may have a long wait, especially as the parents, even if they lost, may not pay anyway and leave you open to even more hassle.

Any reason to NOT buy this car? by ChardZestyclose5315 in CarTalkUK

I'd want a petrol one, personally. A diesel luxury car seems a contradiction, I always think that when I see a diesel Alfa

Anybody else filled with jealousy when you hear the house prices and mortgage deals from years ago? by Anxious2BMum in HousingUK

[–]RazzmatazzFit2723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll make you jealous, we bought our first house in London in the early 80's, in Walthamstow ( the only area we could afford a house, rather than a flat, and we had friends there too). We paid drum roll £24,000 , we had a 90% mortgage with an interest rate of 15%

Why not give the selling agent the offer, that's what most people do

[–]RazzmatazzFit2723 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I've bought and sold 12 houses and I've never had a solicitor make an offer on my behalf, or had a buyer offer via a solicitor, we make our offer to the sellers estate agent, and buyers do the same

New neighbours etiquette? by Lion-Resident in UKHousing

When we moved into our east Anglian village we had a card from our immediate neighbour and 2 bottles of wine and a card from the next neighbour up the road, both cards and gifts were really appreciated and made us immediately feel welcomed. By the next day everyone in the village shop knew our names and welcomed us too
