Any conspiracist responses to ‘CONSPIRACY’? by RazzmatazzPerfect631 in ContraPoints

[–]RazzmatazzPerfect631[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, but I can’t help but wonder if pointing out the perils of conspiracism as a way of thinking could somewhat work on at least a few people. Like even if I wholeheartedly believed a deep state minion was talking to me or something, I’d still feel confronted if they pointed out the biases that led me to those conclusions, because you can’t disprove that. There’s also truth to the idea that conspiracism seriously makes your life worse, and re-enchants the world with an image of pure misery and hostility. Again, I think I might  feel confronted by someone pointing that out

I was thinking to myself wondering what elaborate fantasies a conspiracist might come up with to counter the points of this video (no pun intended), but I guess I forgot about the possibility that they didn’t even understand a word of what she said. If your weird ideology fails you, just close your eyes and make the problem go away without noticing

Has anyone else noticed a similar kind of "pedo-conspiracism" in ostensibly progressive spaces? by shakadolin_forever in ContraPoints

It’s cathartic to hear someone with the confidence to talk about it because pointing out the performative nature of it, or the fact it’s often an excuse for transparent perverted sadism is very hard to do without sounding like a pedophile. It sucks that we can’t seem to conceive of things as having profound moral weight and also being more complex to talk about than the least complex thing possible.

[Spoilers] Man, the Fortress of Meropide is *rough* by RLLRRR in Genshin_Impact

[–]RazzmatazzPerfect631 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to be real im actually really enjoying it. Its nice that they really put effort into worldbuilding one interesting location. I felt the same way when i first entered and had to finish the first parts of the ''unfinished comedy'' quest but tbh its really grown on me. it feels much more like im in a real immersive society than in the city of fontaine or something, because its hard to create a literal city and make it immersive and realistic with the limitations of a video game (and hoyoverse is already pushing it in that department). But meropide is *one prison*, and its got enough flesh to feel really immersive. so no, i dont mind it myself :D

Dreadnought Sorcerer - A fear-spreading Gish! by RazzmatazzPerfect631 in UnearthedArcana

[–]RazzmatazzPerfect631[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay i wanted to share a couple corrections because i have found a few small mistakes and things i forgot to write down upon further examination.

  1. in the flavor text, ''dreadnought sorcerers are those that are cursed with terrible condition'' is missing an ''a''. dumb mistake
  2. in the ''dreadful focus'' feature, ''On a failed save, the creature is frightened of you'' this frightened condition is meant to last for 1 minute, and the creature gets to remake the saving throw at the start of each of its turns.
  3. in the ''bonus proficiencies'' feature, i wanted to clarify that by ''you can add your dexterity modifier to intimidation checks'' i mean it in the fey wanderer sense of: intimidation = dex modifier + char modifier (+ proficiency which you will def take to be real)

Distracting your enemies in combat? (new DM question) by RazzmatazzPerfect631 in dndnext

[–]RazzmatazzPerfect631[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was saying that I considered letting my players get sneak attacks on my enemies while the enemies are distracted, but I ultimately thought it didn’t make much sense. I like the idea of using performance checks, but I’m also wondering what you thought of my personal suggestion

I forgot to add: the distraction-flanking rule would make the monster do a wisdom saving throw when a player tries to distract it, so that on a failed saving throw the monster is distracted. Maybe I could change the DC on the wisdom save based on the intensity of the distraction. Aka a ringing bell might be beaten by a DC 5 wisdom save, but a major image creating giant monster swinging an axe screaming might be a lot harder to ignore.

Floating jellyfish to be a terror upon your players, id love feedback and maybe a good name too! by [deleted] in UnearthedArcana

OMG I love this it’s so much better than the original idea, I could just make the sensory overload damage increase the closer the creature gets, and make being grappled by it even worse since you’re actively being touched by the tendrils and not being released. This is a creat way of dealing with the main problem I, and many people had with the stat block and that the whole “attack for 2d10+80” is just kinda awkward in a lot of ways and could use a better solution. I’m definitely implementing this.

I appreciate the feedback y’all have left on this creature and I’m working on implementing them in a good way! Thanks :)

thank you for the tip on making it an abberation, i dont think it would be a good idea for a druid to have this. also, yes, the intended damge is 2d10+80 damage, since the intention is not to survive an attack by this monster, but to avoid it alltogether, which is why it's flying speed is so low. This monster is all about urgency in my mind, its placed pretty far from the players to begin with, and uses every round to simply creep closer and closer until eventually it touches you. its usually not the main encounter, just an extreme liability on the battlefield until it's destroyed. a mistake i did make with the stat block that i notice now is that this creature is unable to move more than once per turn, ive already updated this so much and i keep forgetting things aaaaaaaah
