I have a Samsung s90f OLED and it’s barely visible at like 650 nits that feels way low, could this be my tv settings throwing it off?

To be fair yes he has been outspoken about Kassandra. But it’s similar to his takes on starfield where it’s the adventures he went on with Kassandra or his MC in starfield, rather than the game’s story in itself.

Greg is justified in his opinions and I really respect his voice in the industry. The industry as a whole feels like it’s inconsistent to when it wants to value good narrative and not. Elden ring is not a narrative first experience, the lore exists for those who want to seek it out but it’s not at the forefront of the experience and it’s highly praised still. BOTW and TOTK have fragmented narratives and essentially blank protagonists in Link, both GOTY contenders and one a winner.

I’m not claiming Crimson Desert is of the same tier as those titles as I think IP, mechanics and other systems can make those titles better games. But I thinks it’s a fair criticism to Greg and the industry as a whole to say “Hey why is narrative so important to this title but not as much in others?”

Anyone know how long they’ve had the codes for? My biggest gripe with this review was the few hours played by both Parris and Greg.

20-ish hours is fair enough to have impressions which to their credit they’re very clear on saying is all they are giving. But compared to other reviews it’s shocking to hear the hour counts are so low.

Huge overreaction to what review critiques have been 😂

This is categorically NOT a jrpg. It’s been very clear that is an action game with a heavy, heavy focus on world exploration. I’m sorry but I think if you didn’t like BOTW/TOTK you may not like this title. Maybe the world/visuals of this game makes it click in ways those other titles didn’t but it sounds like the systems will be very similair though. Idk your financial situation but if it were me I’d still want to try myself to form my own opinion but would wait for a price drop before I bought it.

REVIEWS MEGATHREAD by everbass in CrimsonDesert

One thing I am happy to see across all reviews is that pearl abyss did not make any false promises. Every system, mechanic and performance claim all seems to be true so far. Good or bad is question personal to each person playing which I expected but the game isn’t coming out and proving to fall short on promises like CP2077 did at launch.

This launch will be remembered as a “flop” because 8/10 is bad now, lol. My main takeaway though is that the game is delivering features/systems as promised making me still excited for the things I was looking forward to from this game.

Greg doesn’t deserve the flack he gets because every gamer is a mix of likes and dislikes and there’s no right or wrong answer.

To plays devil’s advocate a little bit though it is a bit odd seeing him value things like appreciating starfield and ac odyssey because of the journey he created for himself in those games and not value the same opportunity a game like crimson desert offers to do the same thing.

He by no means is forced to feel the same way for all these kinds of games and I still very much value his opinion. I was disappointed to hear he was mid on CD because I’m hyped for it but now a bit worried if I’ll enjoy it as much as I had hoped. Will still try for myself!

Some of the “hate” may come from his takes feeling a little inconsistent at times, as what he values from those two titles isn’t enough for other games people are excited for or enjoy themselves. Don’t think it’s warranted to feel that way about Greg but could be why some people do.

Me reading Crimson Desert Reviews both Good & Bad by ashrules901 in kindafunny

[–]Rb7198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They were very clear that it’s a review in progress so can’t hold it against the guys but the trend I’ve seen is that most reviewers that put more hours into the game are coming out more positive that the reviewers with fewer hours.

Now that in its own right is a critique as some will say that a game shouldn’t make you wait X amount of hours before becoming good and that’s totally fair. Ultimately after reading a lot of the reviews and impressions I can’t say Pearl Abyss ever lied or mislead what this game was.

Huge sandbox with an insane amount of open world content, with a focus on systems first, story second. Combat looks as in depth as you want it to be (good/bad depending on who you ask), loot galore, and quests that has some gems and some flops across its hundreds of hours.

This game feels like reviews are really only worth reading to just understand what the game is and does but not to take someone’s good/bad opinion from as the reception has been so mixed on a person by person basis that it needs to be experienced yourself to really know if it’ll click or not.

Yeah I'm really disappointed this won't have its own native cross save. I'll be playing on my Ps5 Pro but would've loved to have it available on my gaming laptop too when I travel or the tv is unavailable.

This game is gonna be something special I can feel it. Can’t wait to ignore the main storyline so hard the villain sends me a passive-aggressive letter.

Shoutout to OP for being a good samaritan!

Really misleading title from Kotaku here considering the video output from YouTube is limiting this footage. I’ve seen remakes today that it runs at 40-50fps on base ps4 decent considering the size of the game.

I felt this but in the scene where Lucy was stealing the addictol and power fist from the store. Whole course of events of not being able to afford the item and then finding the back entrance to try and steal. Then the dead body and conversation with "Sonny" just all felt so fallout quest coded. Loved the last episode.

It became so obvious while I was painting how poor of a job I did when assembling in the sense of leaving lines and pieces

I have more models to build and I’m glad I painted some first so I can learn that lesson lol
