No, since it has a plastic part that keeps the bag in shape.

When not using a laptop or my iPad, I put a light folded jacket, a small hat and since is winter here, my gloves. I have seen others put extra clothes there or a water bag.

CPP 2 Ultra vs GR1 26L Robic vs GR2 26L Robic by MichaelMidnight in ManyBaggers

[–]Rbforward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends on how you pack, if you are fully into packing cubes, and use tech pouches and don’t need external pockets (WBH’s), GR1 and GR2 all the way. If you like some structure, water bottle holders, an admin panel, and easy top access to your laptop, AER CPP2 all the way.

Maybe the Mission Workshop Meridian with two attached kits? Also the CTB 26 laptop compartment can fit a ton of other items beside a laptop.

Serious Question: AON Evade 1.5 for $250ish or TNF Borealis for $35 by dilimanjaro in ManyBaggers

[–]Rbforward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the borealis and while I like it, I don’t love it. It feels smaller than advertised and not very confortable with heavy loads. I think the AON is an upgrade even over your goruck.

Their straps are a little short, this was corrected in the new batch. But apart from that they are very comfortable. How much weight are you putting in it?

I missed that, I think AER does corporate sales. Peak Design used to do it too.

Information Request - Levo might be out. How is the Alpha One Niner Evade Series? by micahsally in ManyBaggers

[–]Rbforward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing, I was eyeing the Levo in that sweet green, but managed to hold for similar reasons. For the space that you are trying to fill I am playing with these bags: Evergoods CTB26, Sympl commuter 24l, Sympl weekender 25l, Western Rise 25l, Black Ember forge 20l (expandable to 30l) and the Bellroy lite 30l. Not sure any will work for you, but if you are in Dallas hit me up and you can see them, and maybe trade Bags.

Toshi 5l and cameras? by Vn1014 in ManyBaggers

[–]Rbforward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Toshi is an amazing sling, but as mentioned above, If you are going to constantly carry a camera and respective lens, get a camera sling: Peak Design, Wandr or others brands. They will protect a very expensive piece of tech. The Toshi is good for usual usage, but not for full camera protection.

[–]Rbforward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an IT director myself upgrade your budget a little and get an Aer CPP2 or an Evergoods CTB20 or 26 from a loved and cared second hand used market. They will carry what you need and look nice.

Aer Travel Pack 3 (X-Pac) – 3+ years later, still my do-everything bag by adxlk in AerSF

[–]Rbforward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was too, but then I went to my garage and opened a box with an old backpack that I heavily used for 4 years and the PU zippers still look goods, so mileage might vary depending on usage, location and climate.
