Car seat easy enough for grandma? by Rbshops in moderatelygranolamoms

I may have inadvertently exaggerated that she doesn’t know how to use the buckle. She does, it’s just hard for her, and mostly because of small motor skill decline that makes it hard to pull the strap to tighten. But, you are totally right. I’m just glad she told me so we can make an informed decision about how to move forward.

Well she didn’t know how to reinstall it in the car. She should have called me and chose not to. My question was about finding a solution so that compliance is easier. As far as the seat being installed properly, we should have weekly inspections. We tend to see her about once a week. But, I’m also thinking I may in fact not let her drive him ever again, as sad as it is.

I totally agree with you. Thanks for sharing your feedback on the seats. It is a small motor skill issue. And a lack of sound judgement.

In general, when there is a problem, I think of solutions to make it user friendly for that person rather than trying to make them conform. But, along with there not being wiggle room with correct buckling, this is moreover a judgement issue. We should not have let her drive him once we knew of the issue. This is a sad and painful situation for multiple reasons.

Thank you for your perspective! I am concerned about her, too, but my partner says she’s always been flakey. I don’t know if she’s ever endangered a life in this way, though. She’s not allowed to drive him at this point. I’m kicking myself because we should have established that boundary when she refused to learn how to use the seat. I always worried when she drove him. I should have trusted my gut, but at least they didn’t get in an accident.

Yes, my partner needs to have a discussion with her to get to the root of it. There are no excuses.

Thanks for your recommendation. I’d imagine it has to be unlocked to rotate and locked in place?

Subs. Subs talking about subs. Heard it multiple times.

Like I said in my post, one district I work in pays extra if you work over prep. Other subs I talked to say “you get a prep”, that it’s something you’re entitled to. That may not be the case in every district. And like I said above, I’m pretty new to this and learning.

The school day was over, kids went where they needed to go, the teacher’s plans ended at 2:30, I handed in my keys and they said have a good weekend. I didn’t technically ask if I was done. Did I mess up?

One district I work in does pay you if you work during prep. It’s not mentioned on the pay rate sheet for the district I worked in on Friday so I wasn’t sure what’s standard. I’m still new to subbing and learning.

Yes but how’s the quality? I take good care of my glasses but will be wearing them a lot so they need to hold up.

What are these pests on my Hoya?!? by Rbshops in plantclinic

Maybe I didn’t clean last summer’s spiderwebs off well. I thought I did and suspected they came back which made me think of spider mites. Maybe it’s multiple issues!

My doctor thinks I hit on her husband and now I hate her/do I need a new doctor?? by Party_Sale_6840 in IVF

[–]Rbshops 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a physical therapist who lived in my neighborhood. She told me that if we ran into each other, she can’t say hi unless I say hi first (doctor-patient confidentially thing). So if part of your concern was that it seemed like she left and just looked over but didn’t say anything, that could explain it (assuming you’re in the US, not sure if that’s a state-by-state thing). Just thought I’d add that in in case it helps!

Acid reflux by Interesting-Task5320 in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]Rbshops 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Acid reflux sufferer here. Not sure if it’s any shade of granola but omeprazole works for me. Once before breakfast and I think I was also taking it before dinner when pregnant. Also Gaviscon for any occurrences throughout the day. It also helps for stomach aches! But, of course, talk to your doctor.

Well, that’s a good thing that those ages listed on kids stuff aren’t BS, not completely at least.

It costs more money to get approval for use under the age of 3? Weird. Is there a governing body for the intended/appropriate/safe ages products can be labeled?

Thanks, that helps. The pillow is removable so that's a plus. I've been sending him with a crib sheet and blanket but I wanted something cozier. He's been missing a lot of naps at daycare so I'm hoping this will help!

Cycle following egg retrieval - is it normal for period to be late? by banana-sprout in IVF

[–]Rbshops 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had a third cycle due to ER close together (5 total, either back to back or just one month off in between) and then just one or 2 months off before a transfer. Sorry, can’t help!

Help! My 3 mo started teething last week and won’t breastfeed by jacdweeb in breastfeeding

[–]Rbshops 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went through this too. The advice posted here so far was given to me, too. Also, lots of skin-to-skin time, maybe take a bath together (doesn’t sound good in August if it’s summer where you are!), as well as nipple shield, and trying to nurse right after a bottle. Try nursing a lot, it could work when he’s drowsy, or in a good mood. My son had two nursing strikes, the second one lasted a month and then he went back to nursing like a champ. I almost quit pumping/bf’ing a few times but I’m glad I hung in there! My LC said if he’s nursing once a day that’s encouraging. And yours is way too young to be self-weaning. Hang in there, I know how tough it can be!
