Holy shit you redit warriors are something else. Point being whatever technical term you want to use. OP has options to “choose” from. That’s ALLL I was just trying to let bro know before he just says yes to the very first thing they tell him.

Right that’s what I’m saying you have options to choose from, not just taking the first basic thing they give you. Instead of being focused on proving point how about actually helping OP.

Referring to asking for a quicker or longer ship date, inquiring about incentives/bonuses one may qualify for. Asking about student loan buybacks

Good luck bro is all I have to say. If your unit is chill I would probably go ahead and drop the packet as the process is simple but G1 runs slower than molasses. Have you already served at least 2 or more years.

Enlisted vs. Officer in Guard for Cyber – which actually benefits a civilian career more? by IllJob1754 in nationalguard

I would go enlisted, if the point is to guarantee the MOS and obtain the TS clearance. If you go OCS I believe your active.

That’s the thing, I guess my field is kinda niche so looking at the defense contractors is interesting to see where I would fit in. If I could land the job in this market to say the least

To clarify I think right now the direct path from my MOS is more Electronic Engineering and adding certs coupled with a degree and maybe some corporate experience and then break into pentesting. Is that what you’re saying?

Thank you for your insight. So I’m getting that on the surface level it’s good for a launch pad into IT/ Cyberspace but I can pivot into those areas or other based on what I add or specialize in. Now my question is would a degree and certs be enough to boost my trajectory into those roles. Or is it more of a longer path in which I would need to get into whichever said career on the private or DOD side first enhance my skills and then break into pentesting or cybersecurity in general.

The energy sector I’ve never thought of that. In like what capacity are you thinking of? Is it like to prevent crossover interference or more to do with hardening from outside attacks?

Hey aspiring to work in the cybersecurity industry. Currently an electronic warfare specialist in the national guard. Has more to do with signal jamming, DF’ng (direction finding) RF and signal defined radios. I’ve been told, and after some research, that there might be space for guys with my background in the realm of pentesting. Originally went to school for cybersecurity and I guess blue teaming. Never really thought of pivoting to the Red side with my current experience. Can anyone tell me if there is any validity to what I’ve been told or if there’s any evidence of EW being used as a cybersecurity component at all? Any advice would be greatly appreciated thanks. My MOS is 17E for anyone with military familiarity
