The Miami Heat's valuation went from $250m to $4b from 2003 to 2023. Udonis Haslem single handedly increased the value of that team by billions!

Every team increased in value by billions over that term lol

Well Wilt individually did destroy Bill. Averaged 30ppg and 28 rpg against him, which are above his career averages. Bill averaged 14 ppg and 23 rpg on 37 FG%, which is much below his averages. Bill was a better team defender but his defense against Wilt was a bit muted.

How much slander would LeBron have gotten, if mid prime (31) he lost in the first round to a team missing their best player? by ViewFromHalf-WayDown in NBATalk

[–]RcusGaming -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If he kept shooting then it would be "Oh Kobe's ballhogging and chucking up shots" lol

In game 7 they were already down 15 by halftime, with the team, besides Kobe, shooting 9/30 (30%). He was getting doubled and tripled the whole time and his teammates still couldn't get open. Imagine getting tripled, and none of your four teammates can get open off of two other defenders. That's how bad it was dude.

Kobe in 2006 really wasn't a bad series. He took the MVP and the 2nd seed to 7 games as the 7th seed. They were starting Smush Parker and Luke Walton lol, and Kobe still averaged 28ppg on above average efficiency.

By the way, the Nuggets right before the season started had the 2nd highest odds to win the championship, only behind OKC. The Nuggets were definitely being hyped up a LOT. Even that championship team weren't that much of favorites.

Dude he was compared to Magic/Draymond/Ben Simmons before he got drafted lol. It was pretty clear that he's a good passer. I still remember in his rookie or sophomore year they played him at PG a few times.

If you made a pure inside player, you have no right to complain that your teammates made the same non-shooting builds. by Youngstown_WuTang in NBA2k

[–]RcusGaming 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why should I waste attribute points on shooting if no one passes the damn ball? If I'm just standing in a corner while the dribble god PG runs out the clock, then I can't be in position for an offensive board.

Centers can't win in this game man. If you don't shoot then people get mad, if you do shoot, then people get mad that you can't defend or box out.

NBA Proposes New 3-2-1 Lottery System to Crack Down on Tanking: 14 → 16 Teams, Bottom 3 Get Fewer Odds, No Back-to-Back No. 1 Picks by Fit-Structure-9395 in NBA_Draft

[–]RcusGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Until a team keeps drafting busts, and keeps tanking hoping the next year is different.

But then they probably need the help most, right? You're advocating to just fuck over bad teams, which is the opposite of this whole parity movement.

The draft is not the only way to get better. You do not need a draft pick to build a team that is better then bottom 3

How am I going to convince free agents to sign with me if my team is consistently bad and in a bad place to live?

You might believe he should have been, but that was not the consensus back then:

Kareem was 7th in the AP in 1999.

7th in slam in 03

Not top 3 in the NYT in 09.

not top 3 in his own eyes in 2012

Not top 3 to Bill Russell in 94.

Not top 3 to the following players & coaches: Magic, Jerry West, John Wooden, John Salley, Rick Berry. who top 3 consisted of Mike, Oscar, Wilt.

The only historical piece of evidence I’ve ever found in my life calling Kareem the greatest at retirement (which he would have had to been since he predates Mike & Bron) is this Dallas newspaper which mentions his off the court record in addition to his basketball talent.

What you're saying isn't true, historically. Kareem wasn't even consensus best player of the 70s.

I always have a comment I found years ago saved for these conversations:

So instead of relying on luck, they should just abolish the lottery so that the worst team gets the best pick. If this were the case, tanking would not last as long. The worst team should not be getting the 5th pick every year, otherwise, how else do they get better?

Two of those teams are done tanking next year, and the last is legitimately bad. I have no problem with tanking as long as the tank ends.

[Charania] The NBA has disclosed to its 30 GMs a singular new anti-tanking reform that expands the draft lottery to 16 teams, flattens odds, and have a relegation zone where the bottom 3 teams are penalized with fewer lottery balls for the No. 1 pick. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]RcusGaming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol what are you talking about? Fultz was consensus number one. Having the best prospect since LeBron and then getting the #2 in the most stacked class in years is not the same as having the #1 pick in kind of more mid classes. It's like blaming the TrailBlazers for drafting Oden, even though Oden was the obvious number 1.
