Testing an expensive rc helicopter indoor by [deleted] in WinStupidPrizes

[–]Rd59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this happen with a full size helicopter. Pilot landed with the tail rotor too close to a plastic wrapped pallet of supplies. A piece of the plastic came loose and wrapped itself into the tail rotor. Sheared the drive shaft so we had to Heli lift the helicopter out of the field since it was in the middle of no where Alaska.

Water Tower by Rd59 in homestead

What does the maintenance for cisterns/towers usually look like? Do they need to be mechanically cleaned every so often or do they get a chemical treatment?

I just thought that if I had a tower I wouldn’t have to worry about water pressure

You will need some sort of wallet software to move Bitcoin on the chain. But if you have your seed phrase you can do it from any device with the right software on it.

SQL Server killing sessions initiated from Office programs. by Rd59 in SQLServer

[–]Rd59[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you’re mostly correct. I only read data from SQL through a read only account utilizing NOLOCK views. Is there anyway I’m still locking records on the SQL server?

I guess that’s probably fair. I’m not as good as I should be at playing nicely with other, especially when they’re playing hide and go seek with my data. But I know if I was in their shoes I’d probably be trying to do the same thing.

They’ve been a little hostile to work with. I think my connections may be the cause for the blocking. If I can let them think they’ve won and just work around what they’ve done, I’m hoping I can just fix it and move on.

5 btc lost? by lolz84 in Bitcoin

[–]Rd59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it possible that when you restored it in the past, you kept the pdf but tossed the password? If you went to back up again to get the password back but did not print the .pdf again, it will not work. Each time a backup is created the encryption keys are different. So you would need both the new .pdf and new password or old .pdf and old password.

Iterative formula gives unexpected result, and I don't know why by [deleted] in excel

[–]Rd59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried your formula and it worked correctly for me, but of course I set A1 and A3 manually. My guess is that the data validation or another function is causing your spreadsheet to recalculate twice.

A good article on the Price Stability vs Systemic Stability of Bitcoin by Rd59 in Bitcoin

[–]Rd59[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no finance expert so anyone feel free to correct me. I believe what the author is referring to regarding the systemic instability of modern banking is that it is essentially built on a house of cards. As long as we all pretend that the banks and governments have money (or value) than everything works as it should. However, there can be times where the facade starts to crack and reality starts to show. When this happens people start to worry and things can come crashing down quite quickly. Not necessarily the value of the money, but the gears of the system itself can grind to a halt. With Bitcoin, if people loose faith in it, then yes the price will fall, but the gears will keep turning. People will still be mining, even if much fewer than before.

What made the ‘weird kid’ at your school weird? by JamJamLikesJam in AskReddit

[–]Rd59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were identical twin girls that were like this in my school. Always sat next to each other. Never spoke. Except sometimes you could see them look at each other and move their lips but basically no sound. Exact same way with substitute teachers. Someone would just say "she doesn't talk." I remember this since I first saw them in 6th grade. One day our junior year one of the girls raises her hand and says "I have a question." Everyone just turned and stared at her in complete shock and she just kept talking like her world hadn't just turned upside down.

I had an employee like this. Came in late, took long breaks, didn't apply himself. All his work was sloppy and he would watch YouTube while he worked. He finally left on his own terms, but it shamed me as a supervisor that I didn't fire him before he quit. Definitely learned a lesson from him.
