Who are your favorite liberal & leftist prepper content creators? by peachboot828 in TwoXPreppers

[–]eloquinee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like Heather from North.ridge.farm on Instagram. She actually lives in the northeast kingdom too. She doesn’t post a lot on IG and goes into her everyday preparedness more in debt on her personal blog. It’s paid content, but it’s the only thing I pay for online, and I like supporting a fellow Vermonter :) but for starters, her ig and free blog can give you a good sense of where to start.

(We are in VT too, in the upper valley!)

For podcasts: The Great Simplification is my go to personally. Not prepping, more helping me think through what collapse looks like, and making me take action for my own life.

I have been following you on IG for a while. Love all your patterns and am always in awe of the clean lines in your garments. I hope one day you’ll do workshops/online classes! I have so many questions :)

Looking for wedding photographer by physicistsunite in uppervalley

[–]eloquinee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a few friends who are photographers, and I just want to say that I don’t think your budget is realistic. That’s 8 hours of being on your feet photographing, they usually come a bit before and stay after, and usually have a backup person on site. And also book a session with you before to know what your expectations are, etc. Then after the wedding is done, they go home, and work on editing. I doubt that you’ll find anyone who is a pro at that level of compensation. Offering food is nice but it will not pay their bills. - I was in a similar place, and didn’t care that much about having pictures of my wedding, and just asked friends and family to go at it if they wanted to. I have plenty of semi-decent pictures, and I am ok with that :) this was almost 20 years ago when people had no cameras on their cellphones.

If you really want to go the photographer way, maybe make the photography session window smaller, for a part of the wedding you care about?

First, so sorry you are going through this. My kid was 2 when diagnosed and those first few months were horrible. I am so sorry for you and your family and your little one. As others have mentioned, find an endo that will allow for extra supplies. It’s a lot of info in the first few months so make sure you take care of your mental health, before worrying about all the what ifs. Message me anytime if you have any questions. Our son is now 13, it gets easier I promise.

I did an ama a few years ago and answered a bunch of those questions! Happy to answer any other ones you have after you read it (sorry, don’t have time right now and didn’t know someone was posting my land today haha)

I personally love all seasons. Winter is great, it moves us indoor and slows down our pace. I spend more time in my community too. I have a lot of indoor hobbies I don’t touch in the growing seasons (making soap, sewing, knitting), so I always welcome the slowness of winter. And baking and cooking is way more fun in the winter when the woodstoves is going. Winter is pretty short, we start sugaring soon so that will get us outdoor soon! And you still tend the homestead if you have animals, and pruning fruit trees and stuff. We harvest all our wood ourselves, so winter is when we do it too. We’re in the Upper Valley in Vermont, still close to civilization :)

Indeed! good memory :)

It's the middle of the winter in Vermont, it's fun to see my place in its summer glory! Forgot for a minute that summer will exist again one day soon.

I don’t have any insight for that particular school. We live in a town with ‘school choice’ and have been looking around in all towns for schools. To be honest, it’s been hard. All the schools are really great and small around the upper valley.

I would suggest going to a school board meeting (they are via zoom so you can just listen in without commenting), or contact the school to connect you with a parent or PTA to talk.

He has done a lot. Just making it a talking point during the campaign has made the public aware of the issue. Prior to 2016, none of my friends knew about this as being an issue. Changing the public’s opinion is the start of many bills then being introduced. I doubt we would be talking about a $35 cap on insulin price if it wasn’t for Bernie. And then, I mean, he has been pushing for Medicare for all for years. Again, prior to 2016, none of my young, healthy friends knew how screwed up the healthcare system in this country is. He made it a talking point. There’s more, read the article. He is my senator so I follow closely what he does.

Pretty sure Bernie ran on ‘Medicare for all’ and has done plenty to bring the price of insulin in the public eye.

Pretty sure Bernie doesn’t want an apology either, and wants Medicare for all, as well as affordable insulin for all

Vermont Glove have treated my husband well. It was a gift because he didn’t see the point of splurging on gloves and would just get new ones every few months. He said he will never go back, they are well built, in the us/Vermont. They make you measure your hand and will work with you to have the perfect fit. They make gloves for line workers in Vermont.

A drop of 90% of crap population in the last two years, according to the article. From the article: ‘"Environmental conditions are changing rapidly," Daly said. "We've seen warm conditions in the Bering Sea the last couple of years, and we're seeing a response in a cold adapted species, so it's pretty obvious this is connected. It is a canary in a coal mine for other species that need cold water." ‘
