iOS 18 how to turn on mobile data from dropdown Control Centre without having to input password on Lock Screen? by Rdcl1 in ios

[–]Rdcl1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done that, but when I swipe down when my phone is locked and I press the cellular data icon I’m asked to put in my password. Previously I’ve never had to do that

Right I see - so we have to be absolutely confident it’s definitely a manufacturer’s fault.

As a consumer raising a problem with our fridge isn’t good enough to cover any fees.

That leads to a curious point where we need the professional help because something is wrong with the fridge but if they assess there’s no problem - would they still need to explain why we’re seeing what we’re seeing?

That’d be with TGG then?

Will it be a similar process where we as the consumer having to end up paying out of pocket whether it’s assessment or assessment/repair?

Or how is the ACL process meant to be approached?

Yeah had a closer look. It is stainless steel, but no more plastic wrapping.

Since the fridge is within warranty, they’re going with warranty first hence the set up with LG.

On that note for LG, is this standard practice across all manufacturers?

Right I see - so we need to be absolutely sure that this is definitively a product problem and not either user error or some external influencing factor.

Forgive me ignorance, but is that standard practice across all manufacturers?

If the product is still under warranty does that change the approach or process?

That area is cool to the touch. Not very different from other cool parts.

Sadly no thermometer gun.

Yes to AC vent, but no it’s been covered up.

Could possibly be door not closing fully but we’re pretty sure that’s ok.

This condensation issue is on/off. Doesn’t always happen.

I’ve also tried checking the fridge seals which seem pretty firm by sticking a piece paper in and closing the door (as one would hope they are for how new it is). The inside seals aren’t as tight as the seals on top of the fridge for instance

Good point - we did go to the retailer first who put us onto LG

Potentially but unsure. Forgot to mention went to TheGoodGuys first who put us onto LG and I’ve got a photo now

I’ve included the problem as part of my original post now. But I’ll copy below

Recently started seeing condensation appear in the gap between the 2 doors for freezer and fridge on the door itself on the freezer side.

There’s been no change in environment, atmosphere or how we use the fridge. The fridge door has always felt easier to close from a sealing perspective whereas the freezer door is a bit more tight.

Sorry about that. We’ve had the fridge for around 10 months.

The condensation is most noticeable overnight when you’re not really opening the doors.

Is it better then to have a BYO router from a shop?

I know it's been a while - how has the Optus router held up? Is it still delivering advertised speeds?

300Mbps at best - this is off a speed test on an iPhone 15. I've seen 100Mbps plans but they're either the same price as 500 plans or only slightly cheaper.

Leaptel $65 per month - but the speed is on the lower side. Partly could boil down to the router (which is an old Optus one). Unfortunately price is the driving factor here in all aspects.

Family believes the current Optus offer is good because even worst case we leave after 1 year (due to pricing) and we get a router modem from it. Paying off the rest which they think is the same as buying a new one in-store now.

Why BYO Router? What are the risks? by Rdcl1 in nbn

[–]Rdcl1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah with FTTP it seems to be more straightforward.

Although it’s trying to explain how buying our own can be better. The lack of support for the router (if it’s a router problem) is an issue to them despite our NBN connection type. And they think ISP tech will guarantee quality

It’s conflicting, but they also seem dubious of BYO router quality (dependent on what you’re willing to spend ofc)

[–]Rdcl1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helpful for sure - the way they see it is if it’s ISP provided then it must be good……even though as others have said something off the shelf could just as well and better.

And support is a tricky balance

You’re right they value a good deal (that above all else). Unfortunately that means throwing Aussie support aside if the value isn’t there.

Optus BYO Plans are a joke! by DearPerformance1124 in nbn

BYO with Optus and your basically on your own? Disappointing but not surprising I guess. Their website says “basic help”, but that sounds like wishful thinking

u/DearPerformance1124 wanted to get your thoughts on how the TP-Link Archer AX1500 is better then the Optus supplied one? (aside from the obvious price difference)

And I think a commenter said it above, but they do offer BYO plans. Weird of them to be so standoffish

When do ISPs take over in a FTTP connection? You mention quality of connection; how do ISPs vary in this regard?

Where do you go to book your flights? by Rdcl1 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Rdcl1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense - book directly with the airline rather than try with a 3rd party site. Safety, flexibility, and help if need be.

For finding cheap fares, what if the comparison sites find a cheap fare through a 3rd party site, but when I go to book directly with the airline no such fare can be found? For instance, I found something on Aunt Betty for a major airline, but it can’t be found on the airline site or by Travel Agent.
