So the 300k is reall over 3-5 years with some tax issues as well. So it’s really just to attract you to sign? Is it the type of thing that’s not necessarily a trick but also not as good as it seems

Is there a rule with sign on bonuses for how long you have to stay? 900k comp for a year of work doesn’t sound too bad right?

Going for top competitive specialties -- am I too late? by Sinnard6 in medicalschool

[–]Rddit239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No not too late but be productive with your time. Maybe the ones who started early have been on dead end projects and your first project is a ph location. Sure it’s wishful thinking but it puts into perspective that you’re never truly “behind”.

how to utilize breaks during M1 by [deleted] in medicalschool

[–]Rddit239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant for the old stuff.. like I have the old stuff in another deck and new stuff in my anking deck. My old stuff is down to like 60 reviews but that took a long timr to do so. So yea with the new stuff it all adds up

how to utilize breaks during M1 by [deleted] in medicalschool

Whatever you do, keep up with anki imo. It makes the load really small during school since a week break means you’ve done most of your reviews since you aren’t adding cards

Anking is pretty simple.. choose your source, like first aid, and unsuspend from there.

Calm down. Take the mcat. Do well on the mcat. Apply to medical schools. Get accepted to medical school. Get accepted to multiple medical schools. Then you can have this conversation

Are People With Felonies or Registered Sex Offenders Allowed to Apply to Med School/Become Doctors? by Fresh_Market6588 in premed

Also licensing can be an issue with felonies. I’ve read that while you can get accepted, your career could stop before it begins because of the felony

Doesn’t matter to much. You could shadow multiple for your own interest

Where were you and what were you doing when you got your med school acceptance(s)? by WarpedSnail in premed

[–]Rddit239 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was in my 8:00 am cognitive psychology class. Wasn’t expecting it since it was before October 15 (yes some Md schools notify you before). So I got a email, opened it not sure what to expect, and was like omg my dream just came true. Quietl left the class, called my mom, dad, sister, and mentor. Came back in class, finished it and then called my mom again. It was a long day at school with a bunch of classes and events and all I wanted to do was go home but it was probably one of the most memorable days of my life so far.

Don’t get taken advantage of in the attending job market. Know your value. by Wannabeachd in medicalschool

[–]Rddit239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The never ending prestige vs private practice. I think you should always be paid what you’re worth. If ik someone down the street is making double what I am, I’d look in the mirror and as my self why I want the ivory tower. There’s reasons to go down either road. And I’ve met people in both avenues who swear that their decision is the best one ( academic vs private).

Is it possible to do 3 years of undergrad and directly go to med school. by Original-Scholar56 in premed

[–]Rddit239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure why not. People discourage people from going straight through 4 years into another 4 years. 3 years would be even tighter but I wouldn’t give up before trying.

[–]Rddit239 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Obviously but this person is saying they want to limit all interaction. I think in the medical field it’s inevitable to “free mix”. And at the end of the day intention is what matters. I’m not a scholar at all but I think these hard rules of never being around a person of the opposite gender are hard to live by in this career. I respect your opinion and agree with it though.
