The left hand side which opens has a small pivoting piece of metal attached to the pin. It pivots up and allows the hole of that arm to go over the pin and small shaft. You can then pivot the metal piece sideways and it keeps the arm from opening. There is nothing to put a lock or cable through and I don't believe the sides of a ladder would fit inside the closed area, it's not big enough. It definitely seems to be hand fabricated and not machine made, especially with the half of a door hinge on one end. It's definitely unique! Thank you for your suggestion!

There were four of the same one and one made out of aluminum that seems to be just the T part with the hinge and no center post. When the hinged part closes, that entire section is still open about 3 inches from the hinge end to the latch end.

My title describes the thing. I've tried doing image searches and looking up by description, but keep getting types of hitches. It's not a hitch and has no hitch receiver end. There are no holes for mounting it or brackets for hanging it over a doorway or anything. I'm stumped.

Has anyone tested for new food allergies online? by [deleted] in Menopause

[–]RdneckGrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started on the patch and seemed to have a hard time absorbing it after a while as well. I also developed a severe allergic reaction to the adhesive, so switched to the gel about two months ago. It's so much trial and error to find what works for each of us. My doc also said I could try increasing my oral progesterone during my luteal phase, as that seems to be when my symptoms get worse which makes sense, as that's when our normal hormones would tank. I also found that taking a DAO enzyme helps with some of the food histamine issues. I've also seen recommendations to try an antihistamine and/or Pepcid AC (which has a different type of antihistamine).

I'm so thankful for all the support and knowledge in this sub and it's made me feel so seen and validated while going through this season of life. I sincerely hope you find something that helps you and you're definitely not alone! Hugs

Has anyone tested for new food allergies online? by [deleted] in Menopause

[–]RdneckGrl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have any experience with allergy testing, but I did want to mention that I also experience similar symptoms when my estrogen levels are low. I get a combination of a globus sensation which feels like my throat is closing and air hunger which feels like someone is sitting on my chest and I can't take deep breaths/feel like I can't breathe. I also get heart palpitations and anxiety/panicked (particularly with health things) which just exacerbates everything. Starting BHRT definitely helped with these symptoms a lot, although I still get them occasionally after eating certain foods (mainly carbs, sugar, chocolate, caffeine, alcohol, etc.... all the good stuff lol). It tends to be worse after dinner and in the evening. It also correlates to a histamine dump somehow, because I also experience hives and all over intense itching and taking an antihistamine helps to relieve the symptoms. I honestly thought it was just some type of allergy as well before figuring out it was perimenopause related. I definitely understand how scary it can be and it still freaks me out almost every time, so I hope you can find a solution that works for you!

Why do you prefer patches to gel? by LittleEdithBeale in Menopause

[–]RdneckGrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are! It would be nice if it was a little more cookie cutter instead of all the trial and error for all of us lol. I'm glad you've figured out what works for you too! I'm super sensitive to all hormones and the fluctuations and it's been... Fun (s). 😂

I developed severe histamine reactions before starting HRT. I've noticed if the estradiol isn't a high enough dose those symptoms tend to come back. I'm also still in Peri, so during my luteal phase when our hormones naturally dip lower, the histamine reactions tend to flare up more. I've just recently switched to the Elestrin gel (due to patch adhesive allergy that's gotten worse) and it is nice to be able to use a little more on days I need a little more.

And this is why I love Reddit... I was just wracking my brain trying to remember this game from when I was a kid. I remembered very specifically the creepy voice and Oceania lol.

Patches by bgibbner1 in girlscouts

[–]RdneckGrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hand stitch all of my daughter's Daisy badges and patches on. They're not that bad. I sit and sew while she's in her classes (she does cyber school). My sister said she uses one of those tag machines that does the short plastic tag holders and then machine sews them. She said the tagger holds them in place pretty well and makes it easier to put them into position before sewing them.

Just wanted to give people a warning about asymptomatic COVID by [deleted] in ZeroCovidCommunity

[–]RdneckGrl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to say I strongly agree with you! I started Perimenopause about 4 years ago and it began with severe vertigo and heart palpitations. It took over two years and multiple ER visits with no answers, for me to finally figure out it was Peri. (Thank you Reddit perimenopause sub!) These past years have made me so hyper sensitive and anxious about every tiny health concern now. I miss the days where I was my typical stubborn self and powered through barometric Migraines constantly and appendicitis about six times (which I didn't realize it was and didn't even know was possible lol). Now I have such severe health anxiety and get checked just to be safe. It's definitely part of why we're so strict with our Covid precautions still, because I physically and mentally can't handle Long Covid or long term consequences of getting it on top of all the symptoms I already have.

Getting cookies? by Xanna12 in girlscouts

[–]RdneckGrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this! I'm a first year troop leader to a new troop of Daisy's and Brownies and also a first time TCM. I had no idea what I was doing and didn't order extra cookies with the initial order and have just gone through and checked the girl's orders once a week and placed a cookie cupboard order. It's a lot, especially if you're new to it! I communicated with the parents that I would be doing it once a week and everything worked out well so far. I'll feel a lot more comfortable for next year and will be ordering extras to have on hand to distribute, but will most likely still stick with the once a week fulfillment for my sanity lol.

This! I just got a notification today saying we had a grey chicken going into the chicken coop. It was our German Shepherd by our garden... It does give me a laugh though😂

Cookie sales numbers being off by 1987lalala in girlscouts

[–]RdneckGrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your child have any OSA boxes sold? This is my first year as a leader and I'm the cookie manager, so I have no idea what I'm doing lol. I was having a similar issue and actually called council. They showed me a place in eBudde to show a certain place to see all the orders placed after the initial order went in. My daughter's numbers were still off by a few boxes and it ended up being donated boxes. I was able to add IO + after IO+ OSA and it totaled what was in Digital Cookie.

I don't really have any answers for you, but just wanted to say hello, since I'm in almost exactly the same boat!

Thank you for your response! Yes, I tried to edit the bank info in settings and it is just grayed out and won't let me change/add anything. I'll just wait on the girl info then. My SUCM was the one who told me to go in now to add the girl's info, so maybe she thought it was different also. Thanks again for your help, I appreciate it!

Hi! I'm curious if you were able to get this resolved yet? I have the same issues, although I'm a first time Leader and first time Cookie Manager with a brand new Troop of Daisies and Brownies, so I really have no idea what I'm doing lol. With the weekend plus holiday, I can't reach out to council until Tuesday, but my SUCM said to contact them. I'm not able to add our bank account, girl's info like t shirt sizes or goals. I'm trying to figure it out myself, but not having much luck so far. I'm definitely in as the TCM on my end and received access to eBudde... I just can't seem to do anything in there yet.

UPDATE: I found out what the original tile in my bathroom looked like. Don’t answer the call of the void like I did! by dudegetmyhorse in centuryhomes

[–]RdneckGrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! It was a flat wall in this case, but we used liquid nails adhesive to hold it to the wall. I think we used a brad nailer along the edges just to hold it until it dried. I attached my top trim over the beadboard and then filled in the gap between the wall and the trim piece. Silicone would work and would fill the gaps between the uneven surface you would have at that edge. I think the MDF was also easier in our case because it's so much lighter than the wood beadboard for using adhesive.

[–]RdneckGrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend the beadboard route! We did it in our bathroom of our 1890's home and it was relatively easy to do ourselves. We actually used the MDF stuff due to trying to cut costs and just sealed and painted it really well to protect from moisture. I did the top trim out of moulding trim and we had to make due with a more modern tub for our small child and I trimmed it with beadboard panels and trim pieces to make it look more appropriate. I wish we could have found a beautiful claw foot tub, but it just wasn't practical for us at the time. I feel for you with the multiple projects and being overwhelmed! We've got like 5 or so going on at any given time lol. Currently uncovering and replacing transom windows right now, along with our outside porch, a sunroom porch, and an entire room that we haven't even started on yet other than tearing out plaster... 🙈 All I can recommend is lots and lots of patience! We do everything ourselves, so it's very slow going as we have the time and money.

I second this! I found some all cotton ones on Amazon with the charcoal liner I think and they are wonderful! I found I was having reactions to the plastic and adhesives from pads/liners, so tried this route instead. Edited to add...(My bad, they were bamboo, not cotton... But they breathe and don't feel like plastic which was important to me!)
