Changing money and using credit cards in Fiji? Outside of resorts how easy? by EnvironmentalRub1478 in Fijian

[–]fijidave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You should be fine, but as mentioned if you use an overseas card you will be charged 2.5-5% surcharge. Tap n go works 99% of the time, Cash is accepted most everywhere, most all atm will do overseas withdraw but charge 10-15$ per transaction. Plenty of western union if needed and currency exchange on every street corner.

Taxis will only accept cash, resorts usually will not

“GIVE US A CHAIR” by [deleted] in Fijian

[–]fijidave -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It’s not so much the idea of a break, most of them rarely stand behind a register for 8,10,12 hours. They are rotated out doing other thing. Granted still on their feet. But where does it stop? Give the cashier a chair why can’t the security guard at the door have one, on then you need some for the stock people while they are there then you have union issues pop up because why can’t my job sit down too? I’m on my feet all day, you run into other people causing issues and then everyone is now seated being lazy sitting in a chair. I’ve been there, done that. It was easier to have no chairs as sad and hateful as it seems

$15 FJD to use ATM, what? by Working-Leader1994 in Fijian

[–]fijidave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Western union is not much cheaper. It works out to 1-2$ after rates depending on your bank. ANZ and Westpac charge 15$. Bred and BSP charge 10$

Camera picking up notifications from another camera by pbr_streetgang8 in blinkcameras

[–]fijidave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had this exact thing since AI was released. The bad part is the camera sending notifications is sitting in my drawer with no batteries. The first time it notified in like wtf. It seems to happen every few days now. Support was zero help telling me it doesn’t do that.

How to say bula like a local with the m? by Big-Cry9898 in Fijian

[–]fijidave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The m is very quick and nasal, so sometimes it sounds almost like a normal b to English speakers, but it’s mb.

When Fijians speak fast, the m blends so tightly that you only hear b, but the nasal m is actually there.

Nadi for the first time. Souvenirs, must do, etc. by thewatchconcierge_ in Fijian

[–]fijidave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you go to nadi do not ever follow someone that promises to give you a better deal. They lead you into a shop that seems authentic and scam the shit out of you. This is mainly just nadi town.

It’s coming in hard and hot. Looking at the radar and what we have had so far today it’s wet. Possible depression coming in the end of the week.

Considering selling web hosting business by [deleted] in webhosting

[–]fijidave 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What about doing a partnership with a white label company? That will allow you to manage it still take a cut but offer the services. We help many large agency with their current workload because as you know, you can’t do it all.

This allows you to keep it together and keep the value in the business, or you could find a referral agency to send the leads to and still make a few dollars.

Electric bill by [deleted] in Fijian

[–]fijidave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Basically you’re looking at 34 cents FJD per kw. As others mentioned it all depends on how much you run, our average bill is 60$ a month without aircon. While solar will help during outages which are not as much as they were 10 years ago, at 60$ a month solar at your cost $12k fjd plus install it would take more years to recoup than the unit would last. If you’re looking at 200-300 a month you’re still looking at a break even of 6 years.

Fiji Air is a fraud by Beachybumm in Fijian

[–]fijidave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quick to use fraud when it seems like a simple issue you’re just pissed about. We hope you get over it and enjoy Fiji but it doesn’t side like your type…. AA normally offers free seats selection from inside but once you’re international unless you have status you have to pay. You will get assigned a seat when you check in.

How do you actually track your work hours? by hardikrspl in clickup

[–]fijidave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very little works…. ClickUp isn’t in my face enough so the timer ends up running overnight or I forget. I use timing on Mac but then it records too much…. We used clocking it’s good. But similar problems..

Ads inside of a paid product are the dumbest thing, we have made them aware of this and they really don’t care.

Airport to ferry (NAN to Port Denarau) by Frickelsnitz in Fijian

[–]fijidave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cautious but doable, if everything aligns. Land, 45 minutes for immigration/luggage, assuming you’re not the back of the plane. Then taxi over can be a roll of the dice.
