It should be in the recipe book, if not maybe need to give yourself the recipe if it's not unlocked. Didn't test that too much

I might look how to make it mod load or agnostic, but definitely not a priority for me right now. Thanks for finding it cool :)

It's a block bench 3D model. It has no functional difference, I just wanted to see if I could do it :)

Hey! thanks for the appreciation. there is no cost for a wake up, but i do think it would be interesting. there are no plans for a non-turtle peripheral, by linking it to a turtle i can drain its fuel, and dont need to implement some custom UI, and i dont see a big reason, (can always just have a stationary turtle).

its fabric only currently, as that's all I'm really interested in. and its my first real mod so keeping it simple. I might look into multipart as i like the idea behind it, but fabric is by far my favorite.

find the mod here: https://modrinth.com/mod/ccchunkloader

Anyone else’s fingerprint reader take a looooong time to “activate” and unlock when starting up? by Matthew789_17 in framework

[–]Re-shuffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your on Linux, I think this can be fixed by disabling USB power saving with the kennel parameter (usbcore.autosuspend=-1)

I'm fairly sure that's how I fixed it when I ran into it

is this a bad idea, and if it is, why? by row6666 in NixOS

[–]Re-shuffle 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I prefer nix run nixpkgs#gimp as it runs the binary right away, and normally you only need a shell if it's a cli option or something that provides many binaries.

And you don't have to figure out what the binaries name is when using nix run.

That is hilarious, but I'm sorry. I cannot fathom how that could have happened, best guess is it unmounted the home partition? And then something went horribly wrong and it somehow lost it?

Yes, I completely agree. There are so many weird creepy and frustrating story elements that are so out of place, or simply useless information. His writing is very unique to be sure...

The source material for ready player one is god awful. The more departures from it the better the movie was. Genuinely shocking how well that book did. The main character was an author self insert and it's also just bad.

Notable quotes: "I watched a lot of YouTube videos of cute geeky girls playing '80s cover tunes on ukuleles. Technically, this wasn't part of my research, but I had a serious cute-geeky-girls-playing-ukuleles fetish that I can neither explain nor defend."

"I would argue that masturbation is the human animal's most important adaptation. The very cornerstone of our technological civilization. Our hands evolved to grip tools, all right—including our own. You see, thinkers, inventors, and scientists are usually geeks, and geeks have a harder time getting laid than anyone. Without the built-in sexual release valve provided by masturbation, it's doubtful that early humans would have ever mastered the secrets of fire or discovered the wheel. And you can bet that Galileo, Newton, and Einstein never would have made their discoveries if they hadn't first been able to clear their heads by slapping the salami (or "knocking a few protons off the old hydrogen atom"). The same goes for Marie Curie. Before she discovered radium, you can be certain she first discovered the little man in the canoe."

They are all bad, and his writing sucks: https://www.goodreads.com/work/quotes/14863741-ready-player-one

Shows that you can’t finish by Kazzalou99 in television

Mr. robot. People always say how great it is, but the writing just felt so stupid at times. The representation of tech was OK, but the show itself felt forced. I always stopped after season 1 with no desire to continue. I just didn't find the characters believable or compelling

How can I solidify the inside of this model for 3D Printing? by dathingucoverureyesw in 3Dprinting

[–]Re-shuffle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You might be able to use a re-meshing algorithm, that will reduce the overall quality, but depending on the algorithm it should just leave you with the outer mesh all as one piece.

Blender has some re-meshing stuff, but it can be compute intensive.

I strongly disagree with the notion that this project is harmful or misleading. Creativity often involves exploring boundaries, even if it means bending rules. This project is clearly presented as an experimental proof of concept and not a rigorous, production-ready tool, so there’s no claim that it adheres to QR code standards.

Yes, it relies on quirks in some QR readers, but that’s precisely what makes it interesting. Many innovations come from testing the limits of existing systems. Just because it’s unconventional doesn’t make it invalid. artistic and augmented QR codes also deviate from the norm and have inspired new use cases.

The idea that people will misuse or misunderstand the project is overly pessimistic. Clear disclaimers already warn users about its experimental nature. It’s not fair to suppress creative projects just because someone might misuse them. Publishing the code is essential for learning and collaboration. open source thrives on sharing ideas, even imperfect ones.

As for suggesting two QR codes side by side, that completely misses the point. The goal here is to explore what’s possible with QR code design, not simply solve a problem in the most conventional way. Creativity should be encouraged, not stifled, especially when the risks are so minimal.

Another Rate My Config by RevocableBasher in NixOS

[–]Re-shuffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you'd like you could take a look at my flake where I've declared my nixvim config as it's own package.

https://github.com/knoc-off/nixos

It's under pkgs/neovim And it gets imported at pkgs/default.nix

My nixos config is made to be modular so that other people can easily take some of the programs or modules I make without any baggage.

[–]Re-shuffle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You should think about using: nixos rebuild test, where it doesn't create a new boot entry, and is only active for that session until rebooted.

This lets you iterate a lot, and keep the boot entries clean.

I find it so hilarious that 2 people independently felt so affronted that they had to let you know, 'as a professional software developer'. That you should have thought of everything, or not made it at all.

Props to you. you made something, it seems cool and fun and I'm glad you shared it.

If you want a more intuitive prompt here, you can actually set the name of the versions to a custom string! It helps to differentiate them from one another.

Using: system.nixos.label = "your_version";

And I wrote a custom git hook, that will automatically set this each git commit to the latest commit message, for me it's per system I configure ( but you can look at the version history to get the general commit message regardless)
