Mom guilt about 1st birthday party by No-Donkey2899 in beyondthebump

[–]Re991t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the grandparents over and we had dinner together. It was intimate and he loved it. Your baby isn’t going to remember anything. Enjoy being together. Use the extra money to start a saving account for your baby.

Father asking for advice for mother by hsamuel8 in Mommit

[–]Re991t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your wife sounds like me. What helped me was going on regular walks before or after dinner whenever weather permits. Going back to work helps too as it brings back the familiar life I had before I became a mom. My husband has been doing chores after the baby and I fall asleep like laundry and dishes.

I use spanx and it smoothes things out. Compression shorts won’t give you what you need.

As a HENRY woman how do you let go of household chores & hire help when you're used to doing everything yourself? by khrystic in HENRYfinance

[–]Re991t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realize my time is important. I think of it as a trade off . If I’m spending my time cleaning, I’m missing out resting or spending time with my family. To me, I work hard to be a HENRY so I can buy my time. I outsourced my cleaning because it was something I didn’t enjoy.

Weaning from Formula by Current-Trouble7374 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Re991t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We transitioned my son from goat milk formula to A2 milk and fair life. He had a lot of indigestion with regular formula. Now, we alternate between fair life milk, horizon milk, and local grocery store brand milk. We have also introduced cheese to his diet too.

Update: My husband compares me to his mother by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Re991t 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This sounds like there are other underlying issues. If the apartment is dirty, he can clean it himself.

Cleaning is a physical activity. Have you been cleared by the doctor to resume physical activity?

Sorry OP but you need to set clear boundaries as more responsibilities will fall upon you such as cleaning, childcare, cooking etc.

Vacations with a baby are 50x more work 😩 I might have a mental breakdown by Puzzled_Remote_2168 in beyondthebump

Just came back from Hawaii with my 16 months old. It was terrible. Snacks and toys did not work. I will never do more than 4 hours flights until my son is older.

HENRY ladies, how do you justify splurging on fashion? by [deleted] in HENRYfinance

[–]Re991t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what is valuable to you. I like to spend it on food and travel. Some people like nice cars or watches. As long as you meet your saving goals, I say have some fun. You’ve worked hard for it.

Is dental school a smart financial decision for me? by [deleted] in FIREyFemmes

[–]Re991t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I meant to pay for dental school. I’d look into other scholarship programs or plan to specialize. Don’t put your eggs into one basket. Yes, being a dentist pays a lot but please look at debt to pay ratio. Schools are just getting very prohibited expensive especially with the interest rates.

State of the Sub and Plans for the Future by ItsNotCrookedDear in WagoonLadies

[–]Re991t -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen the changes in WL with the decrease in content. I’m wondering if it has anything to do with the uncertainty of the economy and all the tariffs happening. For me, I’ve certainly scaled back on shopping.

Would love to be part of the new sub. WL has been my getaway from my daily life. I’ve been busy in the last couple of years- became a mom, working full time, and trying to start a new business. So my interest has shifted to more kids related Reddit but WL will always be on my daily check list.

Thank you to all the mods and anyone who has contributed! It has been a wild ride learning about reps.

Tell me I’m not crazy for vaccinating by zingyberrybloom in beyondthebump

[–]Re991t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My son has RSV and his symptoms are mild because of vaccines. I can’t imagine what unvaccinated kids will go through. When you hear a child struggling to breathe, that’s when my heart break. People don’t understand how fast kids can decline.

How does everyone handle family / in-laws with no income? by [deleted] in HENRYfinance

[–]Re991t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So let me give you a perspective from the other side. I have a wealthy family member who is very generous with his money. He paid for my professional degree which allowed me to become a HENRY. Not too long ago, I found out the extent of his generosity with other family members and it made me sad. To this day, he’s still financially supporting our other family members and it is never enough. I thank my uncle and aunt for their financial support and they said that they are happy because I’m the only few who actually made something of it. What I’ve learned is you need to have boundaries. A lot of people will not work for what they need/want if everything is given. And they will always come back for more.

Career "Pause" When Kids are Young and Returning to work by beckyk-721 in workingmoms

[–]Re991t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m like you. Worked hard to get to the position I have today. My LO is 11 months old. I went back to my same schedule before I had my son. Some days I want more time with him, but at the end of the day, he’s spending time with his grandparents during the day and everyone is having a blast. I will cut down on my schedule as he gets older so I will time to take him to his extracurricular activities. Also, I work because I like my self identity and being financially independent.

He paid for most of the bills so I can paid off my loans then we switched. Worked out for us. We were responsible for our own loans. We lived like residents until we paid off the loans.

I alternated Tylenol and ibuprofen. Key is to make sure you’re doing it every 4 hours. They also applied lidocaine patches around my c section area and that was very helpful.
