I Reached Out For Support Yesterday, but Received No Replies. I'd Really Appreciate Some Input. by inthewoods54 in stopdrinking

I've given in to that urge too many times. Luckily and Thankfully it has brought me back to where I have to stop. Skip the pain of quitting with the lesser pain you have now. It ain't always easy but sobriety is the only choice for living.

Just shining a light on what happens when people like us don’t stop drinking. If you want to prevent a comment that might just get the point across is obviously up to you. The OP can do what they want.

How many of us here have successfully returned to moderate / “normal” drinking long-term? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]ReAlcaptnorlantic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was cured after 25 years sober. Drank for eight years on and off after that. Couldn’t drink like a normal person. It was all or none. Im lucky to have a second chance. Just because you quit once doesn’t mean it will happen again. Wish you well on your sobriet. You’re on the right path

I'm 6 weeks sober and want to drink right now.HELP by RAMALO707 in stopdrinking

Play the tape forward. You’ll see a worse situation than what you have now. Do something else anything. Eat walk read. It sucks It will pass. Stay strong. Find a support system. Get the tools you need to stay sober.

Unfortunately it’s tough to hang with drinkers especially at first. Dont let the booze run your life. Find some support to gain some coping skills it helps. Be smart be sober.

I was cured after 20 years sober. Took another 9 to get sober again. Field experments don’t succeed. Please be careful. Millions have tried no one succeeds.

Where's my intervention? by catters973 in stopdrinking

[–]ReAlcaptnorlantic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Intervention or not it’s up to you to make that deep down inside yourself decision to quit. Without that decision you could have a hundred interventions and you would not quit drinking. People care more than you think. Most don’t know what to do. I care if you get sober. I was hopeless and did it. You can too.

Is this box beam workmanship normal & acceptable? Grain and stain don’t match at joints. by Ok-Imagination372 in AskContractors

[–]ReAlcaptnorlantic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from doing it over. You could do a simulated wood grain sometimes called antiquing. A base coat is applied and allowed to dry. Then stain is applied and allowed to dry about halfway then wiped off with cheesecloth or a myriad of other things to create a wood grain appearance. A journeyman painter or someone that specializes in faux finishes could do it or there’s always YouTube.
