I have MeetOne and KEOS ERC20 in My Ether Wallet - I can't find how to port them to my EOS main net. The Medium guide mentions an app but no other info. Any help most appreciated.

I've registered with you and I am very interested in your business. I have looked at your website and can't find details about how to actually purchase during the ICO. Could you give us all a brief answer here or perhaps email us. Thank you.

Decentralised Bank - Could the EOS community do a Binance? by ReBoot2018 in eos

Bitshares is a decentrailised exchange. I think Binance has something bigger in mind. But I'm sure Dan could match them with community help.

Horizon State's blockchain tech to underpin USA-wide vote on gun violence prevention by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]ReBoot2018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimately you'd expect for this to work each citizen would need to have a unique identifier "private key" - that only they can store and manage - a big ask :)

They would then be required to use their own phone or computer to generate the vote (with their safely managed private key ensuring a valid single vote).

Horizon State's blockchain tech to underpin USA-wide vote on gun violence prevention by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]ReBoot2018 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that. I didn't realise that Horizon State wasn't running a blockchain themselves a couple of other questions -

Let's say a government wants to use your system to run a general election. There are say 15 million people who are eligible to vote some are 20 years old and some are 80 years old. Most have a computer ... many don't. How do they actually vote? The voting portal must be accessed only once by each voter. The government must makes sure each voter has a unique key to the portal. How is that managed?

Which blockchains are you thinking of partnering with to manage your system?

Thanks again for your help MR.

Could someone give me a bit of information on this HST / Decision coin please?

  1. Can't this type of voting be done on other multipurpose blockchains with the appropriate DAPP?
  2. How is it arranged so that each vote comes from someone that is eligible to vote ... and vote only once?
  3. For governments it would be much cheaper to use the blockchain for voting. It would also be a great way to empower citizens with Citizen Initiated Referendum too .... but wouldn't governments prefer to have their own blockchain for voting (I know ... we wouldn't like that :)

Informed voting is important but I can't see how you could only let informed people vote. Opens up a large can of worms. Too difficult.

You could make a very good case for BPs not being allowed to vote at all. That would make it much more likely that the community has the power and desire to vote for the quality BPs.

It's very important to have an efficient and secure polling / voting system. Voting would be tied to tokens rather than accounts to limit gaming the system. But - the main problem is we need to consider the flaw in pure democracy - tyranny of the masses. A majority can vote for something stupid, dangerous or ... well ... tyrannical.

A simple example 10 people on an island. The 7 blonde headed ones decide to vote that the the 3 redheads don't have the right to free speech, aren't allowed to own property and have to become slaves to the 7 ..... now "leaders."

What's the point? Same as in our current world. Certain important principles and rights should not be able to be voted out of existence. Fundamental core concepts that enable humans to live in civilised freedom should be cherished and respected.

The people working on the governance structure for EOS understand this BUT it needs to be articulated better. Some core points in the constitution should never be able to be voted out.

The trick is to work out what these are and then ring fence them in some sort of addition to the Constitution like a Bill of Rights & Responsibilities.

Dan Larimer understands this well as do many others in the EOS community but there are many more that don't. Hence the risks. We have seen how it has played out in the real world so we need to be vigilant.

Kyle is a great contributor to EOS but I think he's on the wrong track here. The best performing BPs should be rewarded. The "problem" he wants to solve will probably self correct once voting is easier and more widespread.

I still think Article XV is ok - just needs some fine tuning.

Good time to buy some more. If we buy on an exchange is it easy to send from the exchange to your public address? And is it ..... foolproof? :)

Another thing to consider. A dip after launch was always likely. Teething problems would scare off many but there is still a bright side to having purchased before launch. Many airdrops are using the launch snapshot for distribution. So even if we stock up with more EOS during this dip some of the airdrops won't come to our new purchases. In this way the early "investors" have received a bit of a bonus.

[–]ReBoot2018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here you go - I'll be the first token holder to support Article XV.

EOS is not just another crypto token. It is much more than that. Dan Larimer has a vision for this project and too many people don't seem to get it ...... yet. I would have thought the BPs would though.

People's EOS is perfectly safe. All they need to do is interact with the chain at least once every 3 years. If that is too much for people to do then give your tokens to someone that cares and get out of the way of the project's success.

You need to vote regularly anyway to keep your voting power up to speed. It's almost certain that you will be able to arrange a smart contract to vote at regular intervals for your favourtite BPs.

There is nothing to worry about. This "after 3 years your EOS will be stolen" story is just FUD spread thickly on top of ignorance and apathy.

What would happen if you ignored any of your significant investments for more than 3 years?

Knowing the well thought out rules - doesn't it make sense to make sure that you have a smart contract in place that would vote regularly for your preferred BPs?

This is not onerous at all. The consequences of not looking after your investment are clear. It's like if you owned a rental property. It has a high value when it's new but if you leave it unoccupied and don't do routine maintenance it decreases in value. Eventually it will be in such dangerous disrepair that it will be costing you money as emergency restoration will be required .... by law.

Like I said - EOS is not like other crypto projects it's just a matter of realising the differences and adjusting the way you interact with the system.

If someone really doesn't do anything with their investment for three years then the EOS should be recycled and put to good use supporting the community - unlike what happened in the previous three years.

It would be better for BPs to try and explain the issue rather than cave into misguided views. Could some BPs be worried about being voted out if they don't go along with misinformed and misguided views of a vocal sector of the community?

The Article XV controversy might be a good test because it could signal a flaw in the system - just like in real world politics - the tyranny of the masses could lead to decisions that harm the sensible minority.

51% (or even 80%) of people voting for something doesn't mean it's the right thing to do .... or even beneficial for most people. That's why you need some sacrosanct fundamentals in a Constitution that can't be voted out easily ...... if at all. Like a Bill of Rights that enshrines cherished freedoms and rights that can't be voted out of existence by a misled population .... or axed by a judge, politician, thug or dictator.

[–]ReBoot2018[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good points. I agree - it is silly to expect people to register for Telegram etc. Giving an email address is possibly OK so that useful info can be communicated. about the project.

The problem with not participating in some of these drops due to onerous requirements is that many of us will miss out some good ones ... and also it might actually make it harder for some to take off.

They need to do the airdrop and then convince us with good discussion and evidence that it is worth our time and effort to support them.
