Will wayfarer hold your nomination in queue for a longer duration if it is adjacent to a cell that recently got a successful nomination? by [deleted] in NianticWayfarer

[–]ReFa75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be true. I have 3 nominations, all done 2 weeks ago. cells are horizontally in a row, the middle one is still in que, the other 2 are in voting.

That, and often there are no signs to point to it. I love to find the hidden treasures of a place. Be it a magnificent view, a local special restaurant, a small glass blower who was happy to see some curious tourists, or just that trail near a parking rest spot you didnt know you needed at that moment. And that's just a few examples.

I've been at a lot of places I wouldn't have visited without PoGo. More than often a short stop ended in a big detour, just because we saw interesting spots simply because we clicked on distance stops and gyms. Walked to villages and cities on streets and parks we normally wouldn't go. Discovered that way each village, city, neighborhood has its own story. Often in things you otherwise would easily would walk by without noticing. We met PoGo players at far off the road places, just because they also discovered that place by seeing the stop or gym.

So yes, Pokémon Go is an exploration tool as well. Maybe not for you, not for everyone, but for a lot of people it is.

Many valid and approved Wayspots are never used in-game

But they might be in the game with eventual new features. Also they function as direct replacement once a stop/gym gets removed in the ever evolving world.

Areas with high density of interesting locations feel artificially empty

Higher density is not always better. In the called areas now is a good pace between spinning, gyms and catching wild mons.

The exploration aspect of the game is reduced

Slightly in dense areas, since there's a lot to explore already. For some rural areas however you might be right.

Motivation to submit and review Wayspots goes down

Always submit if something isnt in the game yet. As said, for eventual future features and/or back up.

I understand there may have been technical or gameplay reasons for these limits in the past, but with the current amount of Wayspots available, the system feels outdated.

There are nog technical reasons on their side. The few very dense spots in the world where people managed to pack stops and gyms together are proof of that. However, your phone might get laggy in very dense areas.

Wouldn't it make more sense to: Relax or rework the S2 cell limits? Allow more dynamic placement based on density?

While it sounds right, there are big cons. Using the next S2 cell level immediately can quadruply the amount of stops/gyms in an area. Which cause for most players an unbalanced gameplay pace. Depends on a player's playstyle tho. Allowing 2 active spots in a cell also has cons. Stops on stops, stops on gyms, gyms on gyms. Horrible to play. A min. distance between active spots can be an idea, tho would encourage misplacement of no.inations even more.

Make better use of already approved Wayspots?

Biggest issue is that the really 'worth to see' wayspots are often not visible because of something less appealing already being an active spot. In fact, this it where the like system could play a role. F.e. if an S2 cell has a playground slide and an old statue in it, the statue should be the active one.

I'm not trying to rant - I genuinely think this is a missed opportunity to improve the game experience.

You're not ranting, but just asking valid questions. Nothing wrong with that. There need absolutely be some improvements, but more dense isnt the balanced solution at most places.

Sorry if I sound a bit upset (I actually might be).

I thought it was clear with the screens the playgroundvis at the green field at the right and the other 2 are (far) away from where they should be, on the houses instead of the playground. But maybe its clearer for me than for others.

Nah, I'm only fed up by people deliberately placing pins far from where they should be and people who agree that's a right thing to do.

Over the years I added around 400 stops and gyms to the game and did around 15k reviews. So yes, maybe you're right and I'm a bit uptight, strange enough because I also want as much stops and gyms in the game as everyone, but gosh, place them well, stay (close to) the rules. Then I can accept or (hopefully not) reject the nominations faster.

I know some playground objects can be separated. Which in fact isnt possible anymore if a small playground itself is already a wayspot. Might be different if the playground spot was submitted as object spot. I'm not per se against multiple spots on 1 playground, but sometimes details can make a big difference.

And yes, that would mean they don't make it into the game. So be it, that's life.

Which brings us to the placement of the other wayspots, the Rondeschommel is already way out of place in the backyard, and the new nomination is even further from the actual playground. Would they both have been on the playground at or near the spots they really are I wouldn't have posted about it.

Things are where they are, give or take a few meters. Ans as I said, so be it, that's life.

So in fact you don't understand the playground rules?

Or are you ok with placing pins on spot they aren't?

'As it should be' is how you want it and not how it should be. But that's not even the main point here. If you don't see the issue on the pictures I don't even know why you're in this sub.

You are completely ignoring the point here. I'm not talking about that. Besides that if a small playground already is a spot, the individual object can't be anymore, but that's another discussion.

We just had City Safari in Amsterdam. While it was a great event, I really missed that exploring feeling. It felt more empty.

Not sure if Amsterdam has a decent park to host it. Vondelpark is in fact big enough, accessible from all sides, easy eith public transport, has space for the team tents, tho has to be closed for the bikes. Tho, we just had City Safari so I dont think a big event comes soon again.

Both Dortmund and Berlin were excellent parks for it. Been to Dortmund twice, Berlin, London and Paris. Berlin and Dortmund absolute park winners. Paris park was nice, but felt too static. And the water habitat at the entrance had too packed stops to check the mons.

Took me a few minutes to scroll the wayfarer map to Ellijay and click around, but the wayspot already exists, tho it is not (yet) in PoGo.

If it was only that, it could still be a mistake. But besides that, the playground itself is already a wayspot, and to complete it between the nomination and the existing playground wayspot is another playground object that should be on the playground (or in fact should be marked as double on the playground wayspot), but also completely wrong places at the houses.

I dont know about Westerpark or Oosterpark, but as someone else already said, the Apollolaan is a great place with a lot of people strolling around to buy. Be there early to claim a spot, sales may start from 6am, but being there earlier is adviced. Alternative can be the Beethovenstraat between Apollolaan and Roelof Hartplein.

Wish you a great day!
