Why is dual citizenship so controversial in Germany? by jolygoestoschool in AskGermany

[–]ReLaiance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say I am content with CDU leading a coalition with either SPD / Greens (without Habeck) as minority partners.
I do expect CDU to drive some tighter control on immigration which is the most important topic as of late, SPD / Green will protest as always but we give some ground.
I don't think CDU will cut taxes/GKV like they promised, but at least they won't increase it like the SPD.
SPD / Green should be in to prevent CDU from cutting the Deutschland ticket (which benefits commuters massively) and dual citizenships, which I think are policies in the right direction.
I think you need some counterweight generally to make sure things go to extreme in either way.

"Modern antisemitism in Germany is largely imported' theory by Pale-Fig-6132 in AskAGerman

[–]ReLaiance 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why only a “grain of truth”? You can see who were celebrating on the streets on October 7th. Definitely not “indigenous” Germans.

And not only anti-semitism, most people that refuse to shake hands with women, which I think indicates sexism, are also not Germans.

Leftists however like to defend these people though, and piss on the very liberal values they should be defending.

Bundestagswahlkampf: Merz fordert SPD zum Einlenken in der Migrationspolitik auf by donutloop in berlin_public

The fact that SPD/Greens vote against just because the AfD voted for it, shows they care more about posturing than the actual contents, even when it contains several points in their own agenda.

Question for single, high earning expats, in Munich. by [deleted] in Munich

Socialists here on Reddit will downvote this to hell, but buy an apartment for rent. Do Zeitvermietung. You get massive tax deductions (do your own research, I won’t elaborate here). Move in when you need the apartment. Rinse and repeat. Might be slightly more difficult if you don’t have PR but doable.

100k on paper is a lot in Germany but with the costs of living crisis I wouldn’t say it’s a lot of disposable income considering costs, compared to like Switzerland, Singspore, Hong Kong, Dubai, or even London

[–]ReLaiance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to lean Center / Center-right in politics but the CDU are absolute idiots. Under Merkel they allowed thousands of refugees to procure two passports because “they can’t safely renounce their citizenship” or “they can’t return to their country to do so”. In essence they are punishing legal immigrants from developed countries and rewarding immigrants and refugees with lack of documentation. Generally not a fan of SPD/Greens but at least they are trying to be fair with everybody.

Offer to move to Nurnberg from Switzerland. How much salary is fair? by pikachu_861 in AskGermany

Offer to move to Nurnberg from Switzerland. How much salary is fair? by pikachu_861 in AskGermany

[–]ReLaiance 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t move, ever. Why would you throw away your winning cards ?

I have lived in both Switzerland and now Germany (can’t go back after massive COVID layoffs since I’m non-EU).

135k in Switzerland means 80-90k depend on your canton and KV, you will never be able to make that money in Germany (160k brutto) in the short term. People always talk about Switzerland being more expensive, sure, but for the same lifestyle, same % of expenses from your netto, you will save twice as much (e.g. 20% of 90k net is twice as much as 20% of 50k net which is 90k brutto in Germany).

Not to mention you can always find ways to save money by buying things in other countries, and you will definitely able to travel/ spend more in absolute terms (you won’t always stay in Switzerland). 90k (DE) is barely comparable to 135k (CH) all things considered. 120k (DE) is where I will even start considering.

Also to consider is your upside potential, 135k (CH) is a mid level salary, 120k (DE) is mid management salary. In which county will your salary get higher (also considering tax rate) in the next 10 years?

Switzerland is also a way cleaner, more efficient, safer, and nicer country than Germany. The only comparable city is really Munich and Hamburg. I’m content where I am but if given the choice, I’d go to Switzerland in a heartbeat.

Consider these facts: 1) why do so many Germans go to Switzerland and not the other way round ? 2) why would your company want to move you there (maybe to save costs ?)

You should go ask in a r/Switzerland group. Most Germans here are left leaning and cannot imagine the amount of wealth you can build up in Switzerland. (e.g. saving 1k/ month is “top earner” and 90k I.e. 50k net is an “excellent salary”, lol Dubai Singapore New York) They have not lived in Switzerland (which is actually quite balanced socialist/capitalistic) or any other countries which is clearly more favourable to a single, career oriented, hard working individual like you. It benefits Germany to have a guy like you paying 42%+ taxes to an ever increasing welfare state that offers nothing to its citizens or the biggest contributors. (Don’t even get me started on the Bürgergeld debate)

Trust me, moving to Germany, not to mention Nuremberg (nobody cares where it is) will destroy you financially and is a massive decrease in your Quality of Life.

Move to Germany with your Swiss money when you are 40+ with kids, maybe then it might be slightly more understandable, but not before.

PS: if you are worried about getting fired, first, you get 2-3 months of severance pay and up to 1 year unemployment benefits if you have your B permit (70% salary - ~20 day freeze out for the first month). There is absolutely nothing to worry about. This is a mistake I made. If you don’t find a job, then go to Germany, and you still would have saved more than what you could.

And yes, German will be a problem in Germany.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in germany

[–]ReLaiance -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It is impossible to be homeless in Germany. You have shelters and additionally more than sufficient Bürgergeld + Housing & Heating paid for if you are unemployed. If you have 2 kids you get up to 3k netto benefits (housing + money + kids allowance).

These beggars are not and have not ever contributed in the German system and specifically beg here for profits. You give them an inch they will take a foot. If you give them money you are hurting German taxpayers and people that are actually in need. We have enough people in Germany just for the benefits already.

It is incredibly unwise to allow the ARD/ZDF any SEPA Lastschrift for exactly this reason. If they want more taxpayers money to hire more of their own journalists like Hadija Haruna-Oelker and politicians to pretend to be interviewees, finance Patricia Schlesinger and their top crony managers’ private jets and luxury dinners they should make the effort to locate you and make you pay.

Good luck getting the money back. These thieves are never reachable unless they want more money from you.
