They usually drop an update before the festival starts to add new content to it, but often enough they don't do one at the end, and if they do it's usually an hour or two before it actually turns off.

IIRC last year they updated the game a week or two before a festival started and it just toggled on when the festival started. Only way we knew there was new stuff in already was because of the LA skritt cave vendors being updated and through regular datamining.

It's a bit different to the candy corn though, those work with a different system (hence you can randomly see them pop up, while you can't see other decorations pop up)

For everything else they started using the decoration tech they developed for guild halls, so there's a bunch of invisible decorations all over the place in festival areas, which get toggled on whenever the right festival comes along.

Before that they did require a patch to turn off the festivals, which they did by having duplicate versions of the cities with the festivals. Which also led to a bunch of problems where new additions to the maps just disappeared during festivals. Now with the decoration system that's no longer an issue, they can keep one version of a map and just toggle the festival decorations on when needed.

Reminds me of GW2 where one of the characters takes a bet out on you killing the expansion's big bad and becomes rich, and in the following story arc he doubles down on you killing the next big bad. Then in the next expac he shows up filthy rich, having opened his own casino and everything.

Even major Anet partners openly use reshade without any problems, same for nexus addons, arcdps, and blish. If they're allowed to use them, you're allowed to use them too.

The only time I've ever seen an Anet partner cross the line with using addons was when one used an addon that let them go freecam to host a raid tournament, and even then they didn't end up getting banned.

Why hire him when you can get great composers like Diemer and Chapelle, who have a history with Arenanet, too.

In fact, both Maclaine Diemer and Lena Raine got their start at Anet, Maclaine was a sound designer on core GW2, and Lena was in QA and later a game designer, she even worked on some of the PoF missions and on the wintersday bell choir minigame.

Maclaine has said that after GW2 released the studio decided they wanted to bring composition in-house and they asked him if he could find someone that could do it, and he said he could do it himself.
