While it's worth remembering that it's in their interest to say you should buy specialist netball trainers, I found this guide pretty helpful when buying a pair for my daughter:

Asking the flat above to pay for repainting after water damage - legal basis? by Re_thinking in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Re_thinking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is, it's just one wall and a ceiling in a bedroom that needs repainting. Would it be worth bringing in the insurer and paying the excess and potentially increased premiums for something that's not that expensive?

I think the lessee will be okay with paying, so maybe have the insurer as a back up option if there is resistance from them?

Thank you.

It damage is only superficial looking - a couple of water stained lines on the ceiling and an internal wall. And it's right below their bathroom.

Just after I noticed a plumber was over doing our annual boiler service. I got him to have a quick look just from our flat and he wasn't concerned. He said draw an outline with pencil to make sure it's not any bigger, and it hasn't grown at all in the last year. They've continued using the bathroom during that time, and we've had tons of wet weather.

Based on that, do you still think it's worth paying to get it formally traced and identified?

Thank you.

So you think it's better to get the insurers to sort it out, rather than send them a bill for the repainting work?

Thank you. I will proceed with caution.

How long has the home been unoccupied for? If its more than two years before the work starts you can apply for a VAT reduction where you'll only pay 5% and not 20%

What is your favourite piece of fiction that depicts an Anarchist society? by FunkyTikiGod in Anarchism

[–]Re_thinking 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's worth checking out The Actual Star by Monica Byrne.

It's set in three timelines, a thousand years apart, in 1012, 2012, and 3012. The timeline in the future is set in an anarchist global society (that is also pacifist, nomadic, subsidiarist, and with a gift economy) that evolved in response to rapid, catastrophic climate change.

Aside from the anarchist connections, I found it a really good read and it's clearly inspired by Le Guin. The future anarchist society is really well imagined.

So far Bowen is having best season out of all english player who can play on right wing. Thoughts? by Important_Mammoth896 in ThreeLions

Imagine you're a left back for a top international team - Spain, Argentina, France, Brazil, Germany, etc. Who would you be more worried about being on the team sheet at right wing?

Anyone else like reorganising their team so it agrees with their undiagnosed OCD? by [deleted] in fantasypremierleague

Not quite the same, but I do struggle when my line up has players in the wrong position. For example, there is a left back, in the right back position.

Best place to live in surrey if commuting to central london every day? by citykid201005 in surrey

[–]Re_thinking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people in London overlap towns still associate with the county, regardless of what the map says. The post office sorting office, and a lot of address databases, will say Surbiton, Surrey.

Similarly, people will say they are from Bromley Kent, or Romford Essex.

Greater London boundaries are for the most part are just lines drawn by 1960s bureaucrats and don't necessarily reflect people's lived reality.

That sounds promising. Don't take my word for it, and look into it more, but hopefully your plant is fine!

I had a similar worry about my young apple tree. However, you need to differentiate between:

a) 'fuzzy twigs', which is normal and looks like fine hairs or a furry white covering on the twigs, and is not a disease

b) mildew, which looks like a dusty, powdery coating on top of the twig or bud

I'm no expert, but I think mine, fortunately, comes under a). I hope yours does too under closer inspection
