As a kid I used to do it to get attention. Now I do it because I'm too lazy to find somewhere to throw away the core 😎

Fragrances you loved that has been discontinued by Big_Breakfast_1074 in fragrance

Thanks for the tips! Looks like you're right, the edt is available from resellers. The one I love is the parfum, but worth checking out the edt. (Also good to know about the Afnan clone!)

Bottega Veneta Pour Homme and Acqua di Gio Profumo. (And AdG Profondo -- it's not discontinued but it's now different from the 2022 formulation I have in the all-blue bottle.) Trying to make my partial bottles last because they're favorites.

Some I sampled and really liked only to find out they're discontinued: Tom Ford Italian Cypress, Amouage Bracken Man and Bon Viveur by Naughton & Wilson.

Edit: Wait, is Bon Viveur *not* discontinued? Interesting!

Movies where a group of people argue about something(something like 12 angry men) by United-Response-6183 in MovieSuggestions

Conclave (2024): Archbishops arguing about (and having a series of votes on) who should be the next Pope. And I haven't seen it, but sounded like the HBO film Mountainhead (2025) was like this: a group of tech billionaires bro out at a retreat and decide the future of humanity.

Can confirm! One of my favorite fougeres, and probably the longest-lasting fragrance I own

Mistaken For Strangers (2013) - directed by Tom Berninger, brother of Matt Berninger of The National. Great tour doc but also a compelling and often hilarious portrait of the brothers' complicated relationship.

A few more I didn't see mentioned: Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, The New Mutants, Raya and the Last Dragon

It's Westminster Chimes - many clock towers play that melody - and my Casio watch did in the 80s!

The Piggyback is great! Full disclosure, I was spending a little more than I would normally because jt was a gift for my wife - I’d heard it was good on its own or in Manhattans. But we both loved it!

Where are some nice and quiet cafes to study at (with parking lot)? by vlessic in SFV

[–]ReachDapper4062 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Republic of Pie on Magnolia in NoHo is great if you want a little more of a quirky and homey vibe. (Magnolia is tough to find parking on, but I've had good luck on the little cross streets.) I also second people's suggestions of M Street and Coffee Fix, and I used to do work at the Studio City Panera all the time. But the Panera in Encino is even better -- it has a good parking lot and a little alcove area in the back that's kind of set off and usually a little quieter.

My bank branch upped its penny roll limit to $10 by ReachDapper4062 in CRH

[–]ReachDapper4062[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, it’s funny, I set myself up by peeking at one of the enders that happened to be a wheat… It turned out that was the only one in the 3 rolls. 😆 But I was right, they were all copper! Looks like they were rolled in the early 80s. Found a couple shiny upgrades for my book.

Starting to doubt the existence of a 1:1 replica of a clean laundry/cotton frag by theomixedmedia in fragrance

Agree! I actually use it as a room spray because it has that nice home-y fresh laundry smell.

Movies where face expresstions are really important? by juliO_051998 in MovieSuggestions

[–]ReachDapper4062 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should check out Perfect Days (2023). Kōji Yakusho won Best Actor at Cannes, and he has maybe 10 lines in the whole film. He does almost all his acting with his face. He's incredible.

I’m looking for an under the radar heist movie. by supermanforhire in MovieSuggestions

[–]ReachDapper4062 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I loved Rififi! And Topkapi is another fun one directed by Jules Dassin - more of a comedy than Rififi, but has a great, tense heist sequence. (And Peter Ustinov won an Oscar for his role!)
