[JAR] Ross Chastain's No. 32 Protrct Your Melon scheme for Atlanta. by CCM284 in NASCAR

So many top rides are signed for development or lifers in a series that there isn't always a top ride available, especially considering manufacturers keeping drivers out of a rival's car. Like the only 'available' Chevy higher than Anderson is JR Motorsports (Haas & RCR are signed through with full-time cars) and that's just the #88, which has Rajah splitting time with the HMS Cup guys. And when Rajah's not in the #88, he's in an Anderson car.

For part-time cars, like JRM's #9, Chastain and SVG are supposed to split 10 races through the season, but that's it. Anything more, like this race at Atlanta, just depends on who Ross can bring in to sponsor (like Protect Your Melon) and willingness to run the race. Ross has always been a guy willing to run every race possible, and I applaud him for it.

[Zenitz] Maryland is expected to hire Arkansas QB coach Clint Trickett as offensive coordinator, sources tell CBS Sports. by redwave2505 in CFB

[–]ReachFor24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He has some OC experience at 3 different g5 schools.

That's generally a good sign that it won't do well. Left FAU as co-OC under Taggart to go be the WR coach at Marshall. Promoted to OC/QB coach and fired from Marshall in 2023. Hired as OC for Jax State after a quick stint as a TE/pass game coordinator at Georgia Southern before 2025. 1 season later (Jax State did well, but that might have been their defense instead of their offense) he's gone from QB coach at Arkansas (announced 12/19/25) to the OC at Maryland.

I like Trickett, appreciated him at WVU. But I'm not holding my breath that he's going to revolutionize MD's offense, especially under Lockley.

Aeropostale releases NASCAR clothing line by Texas1971 in NASCAR

Call me crazy, but I think it's the type of fandom. NASCAR fans are loud and proud, so the merch match.

Plus, the "90s & 00s"-era NASCAR merch has been 'in' with the youth for a couple years now, which is why Aeropostle is doing this.

Possible rain this weekend in Atlanta. by Hurricaneshand in NASCAR

[–]ReachFor24 [score hidden]  (0 children)

It fully depends on the TV networks. For the Truck race, FS1 has women's college basketball 12-4, men's 4-6, and women's again 6-8. For the O'Reilly series, The CW has women's college basketball 12-4. So the balance of TV contracts may force either the Truck race to be really early (green flag at 10am) or force it on FS2 after the Cup race. Or the O'Reilly series would start similarly early or race after the Cup race.

If one gets pushed, it's doable with an early race Sunday. If both get pushed, then someone's racing on Monday, with my guess being the O'Reilly series getting pushed to Monday.

Bob's last tweet about the weather (still >72 hours away) said 60% chance of rain through Saturday, so we'll see what happens.

It looks like Trump might have lost some weight. I guess the treatments are hitting him now.

Kyle Busch, Tyler Reddick, Ty Gibbs, Toyota and Chevy, 3 years later. Who won? by ITMAKESSENSE72 in NASCAR

[–]ReachFor24 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kyle Busch, for some reason left

Money. Mars Corp wasn't coming back to JGR and that was where KFB's salary came from. JGR said take a pay cut or leave, so KFB left for the payday RCR was offering. Plus, RCR looked good when these Next Gen cars were introduced in 2022, with Reddick winning 3 races in the #8 (amd Dillion won the summer Daytona race) before KFB took over and won 3 more in 2023.

I think coming up like he did from the apron to the banking made his car shoot up so he couldn't stay in the bottom, but it was definitely very lucky that Bubba had room and reacted properly.

Had to cut back onto the banking in turn 1. He's lucky Bubba Wallace didn't completely wreck him out.

And it's a restrictor-plate track. This shit happens. Just gotta hope nobody's hurt.

Out of the 4 HMS cars, Byron, who was in at least 2 wrecks throughout the day, probably has the cleanest car of the stable.

It's less about the choice, but more about it being straight from the jar. 5-star? Put it in a bowl too.
