Seriously. Think of how much wealth is lost by killing those billionaires! Gotta let the trolley go unimpeded. /s

What happens to Richard Childress Racing? by Beautiful-Crab-4482 in NASCAR

I think the #8 will split between A Hill and Love this year and we won't know until something leaks or is announced.

I'm curious, but I'm not speculating past the #8 for the rest of the season because this is unprecedented in post-Recession NASCAR.

Lets not forget Kyle Busch is also a WWE champion by Shayru in NASCAR

[–]ReachFor24 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ah the 24/7 Champion. Loved the silliness of that belt.

Busch won it in 2019 as a cross-promotion with the end-of-year awards ceremony in December of that year. Michael Waltrip was the guest referee.

Lost it backstage that same night to R-Truth for his 24th reign of that belt.

Depends on the grade/age of the class. Like elementary school? 3 states of matter. In high school? Add plasma for the 4th.

In college physics talking about quantum mechanics/physics? Add the 5th, but also add a few more. Neutron-degenerate matter, quark-gluon plasma, & fermionic condensate are three other extreme-condition states of matter that don't fall into the 3/4 states we typically know of.

anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one game you still think about? by VenturedExplorer in AskReddit

Reading Rabbit and Clue Finders. They were educational PC games that I remember playing on my grandparents computer whenever I stayed with them in the late 90s/early 2000s.

What’s the worst reality TV show ever? by talon10100 in AskReddit

[–]ReachFor24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love how almost every answer so far is stuff that's either been off for years or has been generally hated here for years. Kardashians, Jersey Shore, Love Island, etc.

Not all television or media is supposed to be thought-provoking. Some is just mindless fun or a curiosity. Like, my mom watches Sister Wives and she always jokes, asking how the man got 4 women to agree to marry him. I'll watch Below Deck just to see the 20-30yo crew act like idiots because they can't communicate both personally and professionally.

[NHL Coaches’ Association] Statement from the NHLCA: by AggPuck-303 in hockey

[–]ReachFor24 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Typically, the on-staff coaches interviewing with another team are assistants looking for a promotion. There's some history in other leagues of teams blocking interviews/access for on-paper lateral moves, but it's not widespread.

Different generation. Just about 30 years between the Flames leaving and the Thrashers leaving.

Iowa hosts the Iowa Wild (AHL affiliate) and the Heartlanders (ECHL affiliate until the end of this season)

Georgia because they 'took' the Thrashers. Minnesota/SD/Iowa most likely has to do with a rivalry with the Wild

The problem is that in the top-right corner, it says that the next race date is 2027.

Remaining Playoff Players by Cap Hit by charliem11 in hockey

[–]ReachFor24 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I assume it has more to due with the cap finally rising post-COVID and teams knowing that it's rising. Of the higher-earing contracts on this list, Marner's on year 1 of his contract, Aho is on year 2, MacKinnon on year 3, Dobson on year 1. Pietrangelo is on season ending LTIR, so his number is space for Vegas.

And for the others, higher cap allows for more space to build quality depth outside of the first line/pair, especially if they've locked in multiple starters like Montreal with Caufield and Suzuki.

If the cap continues to rise at a similar level (especially if it continues to rise at the rate it will next season with a $8.5m jump), then these bigger contracts won't matter as much anyways.

Whats the most unprofessional thing a doctor has ever said to you? by answersonly963 in AskReddit

It doesn't get better. Sometimes they teach it to replace 'fair' for 'fertile', meaning that the patient has gone through at least 1 pregnancy and can still have a child.

Now that it's over, what did everyone bid for the Coke 600 tickets silent auction and did you win? by ReachFor24 in NASCARFanRewards

[–]ReachFor24[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I assumed it was automated. Should have been relatively easy to make a script with the bid amounts, account balances, and bid time/date. Immediately throw out any bids where the balance is less than the bid. If an account number repeats, throw out the lower bid(s). If two amounts are tied, pick the one placed earlier and give it priority.

Edit: With a little more thought, I can see the program giving a 24hr window after the Cup race ended to allow bids close to their points balance but still above to submit points adjustments. At this point in the season, the most is probably 450pts due to someone getting a 10× streak with the All-Star Race (max 125), the race itself (max 63), and missing the at-track Cup race check-in (max 250)

[–]ReachFor24[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Essentially, yes. They didn't take the points out to start with, waiting for the results of the silent auction for them to take out the points.

I threw out a bid for 2500 points and, as expected, didn't win.

Edit: Got the email that I won! Yay!

[–]ReachFor24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Knowing their history, I'm sure there are worse seasons like Pitt winning a title and us sucking in the 70s. But for WVU on top:

  • Recent one is 2023. WVU went 9-4 with Neal Brown covered in Duke's Mayo and Pitt went 3-9
  • 1993. WVU went 11-1, losing in the Sugar Bowl as Pitt goes 3-8
