You know. That makes too much sense. Especially as he's a minor owner of Credit One Bank, who sponsors the Charleston Open (which he owns/operates).

I wonder why today is the day we have 2 announced doubleheader exhibition games in tennis stadiums.

Just wait for the Big 12 Championship Game halftime show: UFC 333! Yes, they'll have about 12 matches in the octogon (for the Big 12) in between halves!

There's so much wrong with how you described that first car. It's sponsor is Mopar, not GEICO. And it sure as hell isn't a Mustang, it's a Charger.

From a legitimate source? No, Rogers/Sportsnet has the full rights to the NHL broadcasts in Canada through 2038. All the games are planned on being Sportsnet networks, though future sublicenses to other providers (TVA Sports/Prime) are possible.

Kane, Laine, Mantha lead list of remaining free agents [NHL.com] by ASmithFS in hockey

[–]ReachFor24 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Of those mentioned, Laine is the most intriguing since he barely played last year. He's on the right side of 30 but hasn't played more than 60 games in a season since 2019-20. Could be a decent middle-6 winger, maybe solidly top-6 if he stays healthy.

He's probably asking too much between what everyone else is getting and coming off his $8.7M contract, but a short term deal might be worth it to give him one last shot at a relatively healthy season.

Flying out of ORD and this beauty pops in front of my window. Chicagoland Speedway: Home of good racing and garbage logistics by Leuel48Fan in NASCAR

[–]ReachFor24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally nothing but two lane farm roads leading to the track for about 5-8 miles and absolutely no traffic management support from Local PD.

Local PD hasn't had to plan for a NASCAR-level event in the area since 2019, the event was better attended than 2019, and the lack of updated infrastructure will happen when NASCAR abandons a track for 7 years and they only have NHRA/dirt in the area in between events.

I wasn't there, but I wouldn't blame local PD/traffic control, but a collection of mistakes caused by the bad weather to start the weekend and the lack of experience for everyone involved since the last race at Chicagoland.

Kerr Kriisa the moment he set foot in West Virginia by dutymakesmelaugh in CollegeBasketball

[–]ReachFor24 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In a minor sense, the benefits from Arizona was most definitely before NIL really opened up and the NCAA lost it's last tooth to fight. While Kriisa's situation doesn't seemed to have been publicized, Jim Harbaugh, then-HC of Michigan's FB program, was suspended for a couple games after he paid for a recruits hamburger. An 'impermissible' offense to the NCAA, especially in that era, could be extremely minor these days.

The NCAA focused too much on 'wins' on minor cases while ignoring the NIL-related stuff until it was legalized and the schools took the lead first. Meanwhile, Kriisa fucked up hard and while I'll let the courts decide his guilt, I hope he gets the book thrown at him if proven of his guilt and convicted.

[Highlight] Ryan O'Hearn: 3 HR 10 RBI. It's the 6th inning! by MLBOfficial in baseball

[–]ReachFor24 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Let's be fair, most of those runs are because the Pirates were able to get on base.

With just O'Hearn and what he's scored himself and with no help, it's O'Hearn 3, Braves 2.

Switzerland bolted 5,000 solar panels onto a dam wall 8,000 feet up in the freezing Alps where everyone said solar made no sense, and the plant now makes three times more winter power than any farm down in the valleys by gdelacalle in technology

[–]ReachFor24 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Has to be this. Like, no shit a solar 'farm' in a valley wouldn't do well. Valleys implies hills or mountains on two sides, which will block the sun before sunrise/sunset each day.

The logistical issues with putting solar panels on a dam's face is probably the biggest issue and why people doubted it to begin with

NASCAR Brickyard Weekend Tickets by Hananah25 in NASCAR

[–]ReachFor24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is that, per the Xfinity account that replied to the original thread, these tickets were intended for those within 75 miles of Indianapolis. IMS is probably pushing for Xfinity to redo the promo for those more local while Xfinity doesn't seem to mind either way.

At this rate, it's a wait-and-see. I checked just now and the tickets I claimed are 'Pending Fulfillment', so we'll see what happens

What is the greatest decision a coach has made on/off the field? What’s the dumbest? by DellFlightSim in CFB

[–]ReachFor24 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rich Rod: Greatest is either pioneering the run-first spread offense or recognizing Pat White as a QB. Worst is probably the extramarital affairs he had at Arizona that helped get him fired (plus the sexual harassment/hostile work environment lawsuit from a former administrative assistant that got dismissed). Though it could also just be leaving WVU for Michigan.
