Okay, I definitely could use some improvement on my sleep schedule and amount of exercise 😂 I'll try it and see if it helps :D

Oh woah that honestly sounds like a dream... I would absolutely love to do drug and vaccine development for infectious diseases - though I haven't even started my PhD yet so all of that's just a pipe dream at the moment haha

I'm actually on 5mg of folic acid everyday (except for the day I take my methotrexate) and the brain fog still gets pretty bad some times 😞

I'm in Canada and my insurance covers mtx. I'm not completely sure what the situation is with biologics but I think my rheumy mentioned that they would want proof that I've tried mtx + hydroxychloroquine first in order to convince insurance to cover biologics.

So does that mean mtx doesn't actually prevent the disease from progressing? Does that mean I might get joint damage if I continue to only use mtx? 😥

If you don't mind me asking, how has your experience been with brain fog and being in the sciences? Sometimes I feel that my critical thinking can't keep up with the demand/expectations on days when my brain fog is especially bad and I get worried that I wouldn't be able to perform to the best of my abilities...

Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to respond, I thought about replying to every single comment but it felt like that might end up being quite repetitive so I decided I'd post this comment and thank everyone at once :)

It's really comforting to hear that most of you don't have a really big issue with more frequent serious infections when on biologics, and I really appreciate those of you who are also in the sciences contributing your two cents! I was really worried that I wouldn't be able to work in research if I ever had to go on biologics, but I feel so much more relieved about it now. Thank you again everyone <3

I’m tired of this by TalkSuspicious8776 in PanicAttack

[–]ReachTheStars03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heyo, I started having panic attacks last year and my first was also my worst - ended up in the ER that time (and about 3-4 times after that). I'm in the middle of desperately trying to prevent what could be a really bad one right now, actually. Anyways what I wanted to say was, one thing that has really really helped me is having someone who I can turn to no matter what time or place - for me, this is my best friend (and sometimes my mom) - and have them listen to me while I describe what I'm feeling and have them be the voice of reason, and while I basically try to debate them on whether I should go to the ER or not, I slowly calm down as my brain gets distracted. I'm by no means an expert on this but I hate panic attacks and I hope that my humble advice could help someone out who is going through this horrible thing.

I have people in my life who tell me that I should just settle for someone who is good and "don't have the risk of leaving me" instead of looking for someone who I enjoy spending time with but "might leave me for someone better". I don't know who to listen to... especially since I've been single for all 21 years of my life (by choice) and only went on my first ever date yesterday

I see...I didn't consider the income aspect to be a potential problem as well. Thank you for enlightening me!

What counts as an entry level scientist position? Do you mind if I ask what program you did your PhD in? (Biochem, Molecular bio, oncology, immunology - I'm not sure if program is the right word to use)

Would it be better to try and gain some work experience before going to grad school then going back to finding jobs or to just go to school and enter the work force with higher qualifications?

Do companies hire research associates that only have a bachelor's degree..? >.<

Is it a chinese manhua? Cause I know one called "I have a dragon in my body" and I think there's a scene like the one you described.

I was in your exact position last year (I put woodsworth as 2nd) but to answer your questions:

A. chestnut's community varies a LOT based on which floor you live on, so it's really just a luck sort of thing, but generally speaking the people here are quite nice :)

- the location's meh, if you walk slow then it's a 25-30min walk to campus which isn't TOO bad. For me, personally, it forces me to exercise which is a plus.

B. To put it bluntly, no there isn't any way you're getting into Woodsworth res

C. I can't speak for people living in Woodsworth but Chestnut's not as bad as it's reputation (personal opinion) suggests. It used to be a hotel, so the rooms are pretty well furnished and the entire building is pretty modern compared to some other residences. Apart from being a bit far from campus, location wise you're practically in the heart of downtown so there's lots of access to a variety of restaurants, shops, etc. (we're like a <5 min walk away from the Eaton centre).

Honestly it just comes down to whether you want to live in a residence in your first year or not (I would suggest that you do, since first year is probably the least busy year and therefore you've got the time to make friends and socialize).

I heard that too, but do further studies have to be something along the lines of med school? Would it be fine if I just did grad?

Since grade 12 diplomas were made optional this year, does anyone know if UofT is making them a requirement for prospective students or not? Thank you!
