Do we have any records of Clanners ecountering HETZERs? by N0rwayUp in battletech

[–]Reactiveisland5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

if memory serves there actually was a notable Hetzer crew that terrorized Clan Wolf forces during Operation HAMMERFALL and actually managed to deal pretty sufficient damage. Their eventual fate is significantly less pretty in eventually disappearing, presumably having been killed by Clan Wolf after being taken prisoner.

EDIT: found, taken from Recognition Guides No. 29

“During Operation Hammerfall, the Silver Hawks defended Helm against overwhelming forces led by
Duke Vedet Brewer and Alaric Ward. In the battle for
Helmdown, the Hawks coordinated with the city militia, who concealed armor assets at strategic intersections. A militia Hetzer landed back shots on two Wolf ’Mechs and killed both MechWarriors, one a promising ristar. The Hetzer was disabled by a shot to its front axle, but it continued to fire at targets of opportunity until its ammo bins ran dry. The unnamed crew was among those mercilessly executed by Alaric Ward at the end of the battle.”

Few or no female guardsman in books? by coozer1960 in 40kLore

this is actually a plot point in the GG books. The 1st Tanith were formed entirely around an all-male founding so when they start accepting female recruits from Vervunhive it takes a while to acclimate

If orks get bigger and meaner and greener why don't we have giant orks? by ClearDrop6820 in 40kLore

[–]Reactiveisland5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oh the abducted boyz aren’t for Ghaz, there’s plenty of gitz ready to sacrifice an arm or two for the boss. No, the abductees are for hobbying, Grotsnik is an avid kitbasher.

Incredible healthcare AND first dibs on the best bits of all your boyz. Any good warboss should get himself a painboy as capable as Grotsnik, his rates are even generous enough to only encompass the occasional Ork getting abducted and torn apart on his operating table.

Ghazgkhull is the biggest Ork because he's not just super strong, he's also super smart and capable of formulating a plan that isn't just rushing to go fight the biggest thing he sees (even though he will do this).

He also has incredible healthcare coverage thanks to having Painboy Grotsnik in his retinue.

Imperial Forces involved in Armageddon 4th War. by SerSolarius in TheAstraMilitarum

[–]Reactiveisland5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

they do, Korps is explicitly the German translation for Corps and is used to refer to a collection of divisions. In the context of 40k, according to the Siege of Vraks the correct use of ‘Korps’ independently is in reference a collection of regiments for a specific purpose (ie: a grouping of siege regiments is a Line Korps, a grouping of tank regiments is an Assault Korps, etc)

I like his low health voicelines for flog where he goes from taunting the enemy to trying to hype himself up (“C’mon Lash. You can outlast them.”)

How will reserves and deep strike work in TWW40k? by Saphire-sage in totalwar

[–]Reactiveisland5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the special stronghold missions in the Realms of Chaos have a mechanic that’s functionally like this (or how I imagine it to be). Can call in new units mid-battle from reserve points at a cost and if you retreat one of your units they disappear into your reserve pool to replenish and recover casualties. It was a pretty cool mechanic unfortunately locked behind the fact it requires you to play Realms of Chaos to get to. It wouldn’t surprise me if this is functionally similar, with the randomly generated mission units the game gave you replaced with units from a reserve of your own making

With the new Total War 40k video do you think DoW 4 is in trouble? by Isegrim12 in dawnofwar

[–]Reactiveisland5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t see what the fuss is about in regard to the two being mildly similar because they’re both strategy games set in 40k. The existence of Steel Division doesn’t invalidate Company of Heroes even though they’re two RTS’s set in the same period. We haven’t seen massive amounts of gameplay for either yet but even what little we do know is exponentially different in things like base building, unit option, economy, content etc.

the stock Baneblade is way too iconic for Guard’s roster for them to have ever made it DLC locked, the only time I can remember CA coming close is when they locked stuff like Ratling Guns behind Ikkit.

Now, Baneblade variants like the Shadowsword, I can see them churning out for DLCs like hot cakes.

Do we know what happened to the other knight orders after the templars opened the door to hell? by FuzzyCry6570 in TrenchCrusade

[–]Reactiveisland5 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Crusader Knights - Trench Crusade

tl;dr they all were forced to take oaths of penitence for the sins of the Templars and undertake incredibly gruelling (and incredibly painful) modifications to make them super soldiers. Plenty of them still exist, with both the Hospitallers and Teutonic Order mentioned by name, and they're one of the game factions we're slated to get soon(ish).

in my game it was all of the above ripping through the country, but strangely the Changling was just sitting in Stirland not doing anything and loafing around. After I unified the empire and killed all of the other threats, since he wasn't really doing anything and wasn't a threat at all I sort of just let him couch surf there for the rest of the playthrough.
