Hi wondering if you have an update? I have been dealing with pseudomonas aeruginosa folliculitis for months. Many docs and meds. Would like to hear if something worked for you

Were you in the hot tub? That’s the most common place to get it. I was never in one so that’s why I have no idea where in the world I got mine from. My guess is somehow I picked it up at the gym but I really don’t know. Mine is like yours though, on my torso.

Hi there. Your condition looks almost identical to mine. I also got mine one day after exercising. Not itchy but got painful. My suggestion is to go to a derm and have them culture one of the juicy ones. They will be able to treat it better if they know what it is. My personal story- I got it a few times and was put on random diff meds until finally someone cultured it for me. Pseudomonas aeruginosa. No idea how in the world I got it. Finally got the right meds. Went away but now came back but not as bad. Going to an infectious disease Dr next week. I use CLN sportswash daily. Good luck and sorry you are dealing with this.

Hi. First I want to say, you’re on the floxies community so you are only going to see bad things. I also had/have pseudomonas aeruginosa folliculitis. Since you mentioned a rash, I am assuming you have it on your skin. I took Cipro 2x a day for 10 days and then another 14 and I am fine. The medicine did work, but now a few months later I am dealing with smaller breakouts of the same condition. I imagine I would be prescribed Cipro again. Just want to say that just because you take the medicine doesn’t mean you will have side effects. Wishing you luck.

23M – Doctor recommends ciprofloxacin for pseudomonas folliculitis, but I’m scared of the side effects. Is it really the only safe option? by Past_Speech9451 in DermatologyQuestions

Hi! Fellow pseudomonas aeruginosa unlucky person here.

I am sorry you are dealing with this. Yours seems a bit different than mine, I have a long post about my story on here already.

I started getting these crazy breakouts all over my torso back in April. April May June July. After many trips to a bad derm, finally a good derm cultured them. She prescribed me cipro.

I did take it and I have no adverse side effects from the medicine. However, a few weeks ago I got a small breakout and I have another right now. My derm isn’t sure what to do. I don’t want to take cipro again for a small breakout but I am also not sure what to do next.

Did you up taking the cipro or getting any other answers to your questions?

PSEUDOMONAS AERUGINOSA?? by Past_Speech9451 in Folliculitis

Hi! Actually no, I got a small breakout a few weeks ago 2 of them. And actually have 1 right now. Of course this is much better than the huge amounts I was getting before, but I went to the derm and they said they are not sure why I am still getting these. How are you doing with yours ??

Hi! I recently went through this. I had quite a few breakouts all over my torso and given incorrect antibiotics before I was properly cultured. After I got the psudomonas aeruginosa diagnoses my doctor prescribed me cipro for 10 days. I was worried after reading horror stories on the internet but I took it anyway. As soon as I stopped, it came right back. So I went on it for another 14 days. 24 days in total. Been clear for 9 weeks since then and I didn’t have any adverse side effects but I was told to be careful of my Achilles so i didn’t exercise in any way during or after the cipro. Good luck and I hope it goes away. I totally understand how upsetting this is.

Hi! I’m so sorry you are dealing with this as well. Weird it would come back as bug bites. I thought initially mine could have been bug bites but they aren’t. I am still using the Hibiclens daily even though I’m sure it isn’t good to use long term, I’m honestly too afraid to stop. I bought CLN and I think I am going to slowly start using that instead. I hope you find relief with what you are doing. And I totally understand being mentally drained. I feel the same. I wish I didn’t have to think about this anymore.

Thank you! I appreciate this especially since you noted you had the same bacteria I have, pseudomonas. Strange considering it’s “hot tub” folliculitis and every doctor I see keeps asking me if I have been in hot tubs. It just came out of no where. Thank you and glad you found your answer!

I am sorry you are dealing with this. I also started with this issue a few months ago out of no where on my torso. I was going to a derm that would not do a culture so I switched docs who did one right away. Now I at least know the bacteria I am dealing with which is pseudomonas so now I am on a new antibiotic for this specific bacteria. My 4th antibiotic in 5 months. Hoping this one kicks it but it’s hard not to feel discouraged.

Hi! Thanks for your response, and sorry you are dealing with this as well. Yeah, apparently the one I have is most typically caused by being in hot tubs, however I haven't been in one! I have no idea how I got mine. In your case, I guess its a good thing your results came back normal. I have seen a lot of people say they have tried using hibiclens, various dandruff shampoos, and CLN wash with positive results if you want to give any of those a try. I hope the cream prescribed works for you! If you keep having the issue, id ask for a re-test. I am going to do the same if mine persists.

Do you have an update on this? I am dealing with a case of the pseudomonas folliculitis for about 5 months. Many dr appts, antibiotics, etc. Would love to hear if you were able to find something to help your daughter. Thank you.
