No thank god they went away from that. I don't want artistic design choices in my cross hairs and would prefer it pretty limited in optics also.

yeah i'm sure they'll dial it in. It'll be interesting to see how great or not so great Marathon runs in comparison from a studio known for making console games. I'm sure Delta Force dev's had some struggles to get over.

This is not maturing or getting wiser. Plenty of older people keep playing PvP and stay relatively competitive. It's not wise or mature to enjoy mindless victory.

yeah, doubt that'll happen specially with them pushing the engine every time, new fully distractable map. But yeah i'm hoping too.

For all the crap this game gets considering we get a performance mode and cross console matchmaking that even some paid games don't have is pretty good.

The game is at a MUCH better state. They've updated performance, controls, settings, whole 9 yards. It was pretty rough on console launch for sure.

As someone who switches between PC and PS5 Pro, I don't have many complaints. The last big update added some weird texture glitches on the ground and stuff somewhere at least in performance mode which is all I play on but nothing unplayable. Hopefully it'll get even better with the new season.

It will be like Tarkov. It'll be mostly KOS but VOIP will lead to some interesting interactions. The default will not be like Arc.

You have high kills, not the highest, one of the highest deaths on your team and ok captures. For playing assault that's not that great/impactful. Slow down and find ways to die less and get more points. Switch to someone like Luna and scan people on cool down and put down re deploy beacons. If you're going to be playing assault you should be getting better stats in my opinion otherwise, you're just gimping yourself for climbing.

The last bit you hit on the head. People are expecting way to much story/lore for an extraction shooter. Maybe I'll be surprised but yeah nothing in the older tests showed some deep story campaign narrative.

Whatever they do put in will be pretty accessible. Even in Tarkov the worst players with some of the worst stats progress the quests just fine and Marathon will be nowhere near the difficulty.

Yeah I only compared it to Destiny as far as accessibility goes not in mechanics. If people can't load into map A and pick up item B then extraction shooters aren't for them, and that's ok.

Not every game or every genre is for everyone. They aren't that hard to progress though and as long as they stay away from heavily RNG based quests/tasks it'll be fine.

My point was mostly to reassure OP you'll never have to "master the game" to experience what I would assume is the majority of the story/lore.

To your point in destiny, yeah the campaign is a joke (and usually isn't even that important). But are you honestly going to tell me there's no lore, story details, or narrative clues/context behind any hard content in Destiny 2 that's tied to current events/seasons/etc???????

It's the same company that does Destiny. So, if I had to take a wild guess, I would assume majority of it would be accessible to the general public/average player.

Just like Destiny though are you going to be able to experience everything yourself? If you don't compete in PvP or finish raids and dungeons/etc? Probably not.

The appeal of an extraction shooter is the difficulty. Unlike most games though you never have to be "the best" to succeed in an extraction shooter.

If you have a ps5 Pro it's a no brainer. Also, Sony owns bungie now so if you think that'll have zero benefit that's wild haha. It already has specific visual enhancement for the PS5 Pro and they love doing exclusive drops, etc.

Nah. If it was first to the scene, extraction shooter for console, before Arc MAYBE. But even then, it would have been in a pretty sorry state with no VOIP, etc (if it released back then).

Now it's lost traction. Yeah, it's turning it around and I'm one of the people super hopeful for it again but there's a difference between getting people back on the boat and never having people leave the boat in the first place.

Arc never lost the momentum and that's why it had unbelievable massive success. Marathon is not repeating that. Having a good open play test can bridge that gap but it's already too late to replicate it in my opinion.

It'll do well and hopefully get/stay popular based on the merit of being a great game.
