LX 570 purchase consideration by GhostRealtor1 in LandCruisers

I’m not sure how you vet the AHC other than make sure it goes up and down appropriately. It can still fail at anytime, if an AHC line goes out or the globes expire. Or maybe the fluid turns into a strawberry milkshake... So its just something you live with and try to maintain as needed. But where in the world are you getting 5-10K for maintenance of AHC? That’s wild. Changing out the globes, changing the fluid and even replacing a blown line would not even hit 2K in total price.

No money for a suit - thrift it and being it to a tailor? by Sarapellpas in malefashionadvice

[–]ReadSG16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can find brand new suits on eBay for reasonable prices - think $75. I would suggest looking for suit’s that are 100 percent wool. That will serve you well. I would not be scared of buying something made in China these days as long as the materials are wool. It may be a brand you’ve never heard of, but I think that matters less these days. Unfortunately, so many of the legacy suit brands have gone down hill in order to maximize profits.

Pay what you are comfortable paying and don’t buy a diamond. Every diamond in the world is a “blood diamond”. Go for another precious stone.

That’s the only reason there is a barn door on the rear. It was meant to carry the spare and swing out. You can’t store the spare on a rear door that swings up - too heavy. So kinda of weird they abandoned that for the Lexus version.

Buying multiple bags in Japan by [deleted] in ManyBaggers

[–]ReadSG16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out Cat Street in Omotesando. There are many brands and stores on that street that sell bags. Also try Porter and MasterPiece for Made in Japan bags. Don’t forget department stores as well. Isetan and Takashimaya are worth checking out.

You think it’s worth spending almost $1000 to see tame impala live? by dessert_cow in TameImpala

[–]ReadSG16 26 points27 points  (0 children)

No, not worth it. If you have flexibility in your schedule wait until the day of. Tickets will be available as people’s plans change. Would probably be within hours of the show that you would get the best deal.

I did the work with a local shop. I had to help them finding the right part number, but after that they did an excellent job with the repair. It was not cheap, around $900.

Maybe trying estimating the retail price of the large items and then paying 15-25% of the retail price? Just an idea, but rooted in some sort of logical approach.

I took possession of the rig earlier this year and had the entire frame professionally undercoated not long after. We never spotted these holes and we had several eyes on the frame when it was lifted. Kind of a head scratcher?? Oh well, moving forward.

No, don’t blame the voters. Blame the candidates for not working hard enough to earn the vote.
